Hi all,
My router and modem place at first floor. Wifi signal for First floor is good for both 2.4G and 5G. Ground floor is cover by 2.4G but 5G signal is not good at some area.
I plan to buy an access point to put at ground floor to cover up. Please recommend me an access point.
My current setup as below:

Miktrotik RB750G - Asus RT-AC55uhp (configure as access point)
*
Get an ubiquiti unifi AP AC (Lite/Pro). but make sure you have a POE switch or injector because this device only can be powered by POE

To be frank, i did not try the functions which has on SHD.
If you have over 150 devices its gonna give problem. We used about 180-200 unit per room, having around 6 rooms maybe. 1 very weird issue, after sometime you might not able to connect on 2.4g signal... really have no clue what went wrong but restart solved the issue temporary.
why not... if it is cheap  devil.gif

All. How's rb4011 compare to hexgr3? Thinking of upgrading - just making sure it's worth an upgrade or i just might stay with gr3
*
what kind of traffic u utilizing? my home using Digi infinite with rb2011. Connected wireless device is 25 devices. I set it up with PCQ QoS though, working great with average 2mbps speed for each device.
If you have a lot of user then maybe you can go for rb4011.

hAP AC as your main router? What speed is your UniFi? Afraid to say that the hAP AC routing performance is relatively weak.

I did a test here with the hAP AC. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=90330495

Not a comprehensive test but it didn’t give me a very impression of the hAP AC. I’m currently using one as an AP only. WiFi also so-so lah. But then again Mikrotik’s WiFi is always just so-so only.

can you suggest the best mikrotik router for TIME 1Gbps?

hAP AC2 will be good enough. It handles UniFi 800Mbps with room to spare. And TIME's internet doesn't use VLANs which means less CPU needed.

RB4011 for sure OK but 3x more expensive.
*
i dont have hAP AC2, just hAP. I have an EdgeRouter-X though, does it better than hAP in terms on performance? I know the functionalities is win by MikroTik.

Yea, this is what I know so far when setting up time, but i can't ping to google dns at all, even setting dns like I do when using maxis. I can go to a few website like idownloadblog.com but not the major site like Google or youtube. The dlink 882 doesn't give me this issue though.
*
have u check your nat rules? dns already set up in the dhcp server?

Geng, need help abit ah

Got 4G Huawei B818-263 router for Unifi Air. Use my hAP AC2 connect to it (via lan ether1) router mode.

Problem is, how to get the IPv6 from B818-263 advertise to hAP AC2 eh? Tried everything but no luck ah. Otak jammed already. Or need to set the hAP AC2 or B818-263 bridge mode?

Please help & teach me sifus sifus sekelian alam. Thanks!
*
u need to create DHCPv6 if u set it in router mode. If u go bridge mode it just plug and play.

Thanks for the reply.
Successfully got new port for Unifi fiber.
Ipv6 enable without issue.
*
of course ipv6 is enabled without issue. the problem is if u have many sub networks or vlan, the ipv6 wont advertise as slaac. you have to enable the dhcpv6 and separate the given ip to multiple subnets nod.gif

try replace your power adapter. Or try power it on by using PoE.

Hi,
I have a question about VLAN.  I know what a VLAN is, but I am not sure what purpose Mikrotik's implementation of 'Interface -> VLAN' is for.

For instance, if you put in a bridge and turn on VLAN filtering, you will filter VLAN.  If you go to "Switch->Ports" and perform VLAN configuration, you can manipulate packets.  This is filtering behaviour on ports.  You can also tag VLANs on per port basis.

What I don't understand is the purpose of 'Interface -> VLAN'.  To get Unifi working, you have to create VLAN 500 and assign it to the WAN port.  For HyppTV, create another 'Interface->VLAN' 600 and assign it to the same WAN port.  What purpose does this VLAN interface achieve? Is it to tag outgoing traffic to PPPoE?

P.S. It seems I may have answered my own question, I just need to confirmation.  Looks like the technique or recommendation on VLAN configuration changed with 6.41 firmware in December 2017?  Can someone confirm? Technically, I don't need to assign VLAN 500 and 600 on the ethernet port anymore?  Instead, I can have 1 bridge with VLAN filtering, passing VLAN500 and 600.
*
To my understanding, both have the same function. The VLAN on interface is handled by the software, while the VLAN on the switch is handled by the hardware chip itself. Correct me if I am wrong.

Assuming your WAN port is ether1:

- Add VLAN 500 to ether1.
- Add a PPPoE client on that VLAN500.

Does the PPPoE client managed to connect to the server?

For easier way this is the drawing as ppl today saying "lukis bang" laugh.gif

Hahahaha.. always kena like this.. so i draw la..

Btw, still in dilemma.. want to upgrade from ac2 - ac3 but some of my mikrotiks group friends said wait... wait for MikroTik wifi6 device.. save money first..
*
I suggest you buy the hap ac3. Do not wait for wifi6 from mikrotik as their wireless driver have limitation. Their product still cannot benefits with wave2 wifi technology, let more wifi6. If you want a wifi6 device i suggest you to get from ubiquiti. They already release wifi 6 product. IIRC it is called u6-lite.

Hi guys, any wired router to recommend?
Using Unifi 800mbps and vpn.
if have PoE out will be better
*
You may want to buy hEX s or hEX PoE

https://mikrotik.com/product/hex_s

https://mikrotik.com/product/RB960PGS

Either both of them are good for packet processing and also for ipsec vpn. The hEX s has only 1 port passive PoE out and the hEX PoE has 4 af/at PoE out. Your choice.

I would like to block the mikrotik to lease IP addresses to unregistered MAC addresses, anyone know how to configure in mikrotik?
*
You will need to change the ARP in LAN ports/Bridge to accept reply only. Then you will need to change the address pool on DHCP to use static-only, also do not forget to tick the option Add ARP for leases.
