QUOTE(NoobHacker @ Feb 3 2022, 07:06 PM) nice.. I don't know about your pihole problem, but I use it with no problem. Sometimes if the pihole block some websites, i just add it into whitelist.Used to use it a lot but eventually hit into issues 1. sometimes they block alipay and i have trouble performing payment 2. youtube history doesn't work 3. some apps will keep retry to send analytics nonstop (since blocked by pihole) and i will see like a super long bar to amazonaws endpoint 4. google search ads doesn't work and I couldnt identify where you install the proxmox.. I used to have a HP sff pc for proxmox but hit into weird linux issues. did some google search says not using ecc ram. hows the power consumption for entire setup? is the white thing above rb5009 the unifi onu? whats your router before you get your rb5009? been thinking to get a ds220+ as well but my friend say new version coming soon. sounds fun to have local version of google photos. I installed proxmox on thinkstation PC which is using Xeon processor, I just added a 10Gbps nic into it and setting it to install sophos firewall vm, windows vm and also linux vm for pihole use. Yes the white modem above rb5009 is the unifi onu. I am planning to use SFP GPON but currently the GPON I bought had some problems and I can't really use it, need to order other version. The Synology NAS I used mainly for file and photo backup as well as Plex media server and also to run some dockerization stuff and currently routed to other network using VPS fixed public IP. QUOTE(NoobHacker @ Feb 3 2022, 11:46 PM) cool, might revisit pi-hole soon. Using DSM7 the resource for using docker is quite low, highest is only when I the docker images need update and restart the container. Btw I am using 16GB RAM for my Synology DS918+. The paper says it only support maximum 8GB, turns out you can add it max 16GB no problem, been using it for almost 2 years already.seems like server cpu is more suitable to install proxmox. what do you do with docker in NAS? I see a lot of people do this but don't quite understand why run docker inside celeron cpu unit with low amount of ram. also, did you google image the logo for your diagram one by one? EDIT: nvm search seems working good in draw io QUOTE(haturaya @ Feb 4 2022, 09:19 AM) Haha the UPS i bought from carousell for only RM350 with 1.5kVA. Sadly it does not come with rackmount kit and finding one is quite hard in Malaysia, there is a lot on ebay but the shipping cost is much more expensive the item itself haha, that is why you can see I am using 1U fujitsu server as my mounting below, else the UPS will sink inside the rack. QUOTE(akihito @ Feb 4 2022, 03:36 PM) I am, I am using both internal reverse proxy and cloudflare service to expose my server to public internet. Only port 80 and 443 are exposed, other ports like SMB and SSH need to use VPN to access. Mostly I will connect to my VPN if I am browsing using my mobile data. |

QUOTE(nitehawk @ Feb 10 2022, 01:06 AM) Here is the link. Mine is 15U but depth only limited to 550mm so you will not fit a standard server that mostly have 600mm in minimum depth let alone poweredge that is about 700mm. But it will do just for my homelab.12U / 15U Open Server Rack ( 4 post open rack) |

QUOTE(quadcube @ Feb 10 2022, 09:42 AM) and I thought I was crazy to hook up all my core network to the UPS...even the TM ONU runs on PoE power Yea before I achieved this I could only watch and scroll at subreddit homelab. But this open frame 15U rack does not enough for me, I still got a lot more to put probably getting a 24U or 28U in the future.mainly running plex, AdGuard home, hosting my website and some other stuffs on proxmox. in JP, I run a 1U SuperMicro below my work desk to host a nextcloud instance and Mac mini at home to lower my home electric bill |

QUOTE(ahlong @ May 7 2022, 10:03 PM) Yes thank you so much! Solved! YOU the man. Thank you so much again. The v7 routeros automatically added default route for pppoe both ipv4 and ipv6. When you tick the default route in ipv6 dhcp client it will confuse which route. Idk this is a bug or feature.Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir & Batin. ahlong liked this post

QUOTE(Anime4000 @ Oct 28 2022, 09:18 PM) I have some good news for RB5009 users... Nowawys stable and beta version no difference only iykwim ![]() ![]() Now RB5009 SFP+ can nego 2.5Gb XPON ONU SFP, if you like to break 1GbE on 800/1Gbps internet limit... UPDATE: I tired 2.5Gb, which is much better and faster sync between ODI and SFP+ ![]() before in 1Gb mode, SPF+ will having multiple Link Down just to get sync properly... even tho 2.5Gb mode wont increase internet speed, stable sync also important! |
