I have no idea where else to post this except here..hope to seek for rational advises.

Here is the story...

I have just moved in a new condo unit and renting a master bedroom, together staying with my bf, a couple (renting the middle room) and another tenant for the small room. all 3 rooms are equipped with aircond.
before i confirm to rent the room, i have asked the house owner if all the bills are equally shared and the owner said yes, everything share equally so no argument.
but when we received the current month electricity bill, it costs almost RM300, which the previous months only about Rm150-Rm170 but no one is occupying the master room for previous months.

the problem is the couple who occupying the middle room are not happy with the high utilities and claimed that my bf and i causes the hike of electricity usage. we only on the aircond at night as we are out for working during daytime.

so here is their reason for refusing to pay equal share of the bill.
- their aircond was not functioning for the past 2 weeks.
- we are staying in high floor so they feel cold most of the time therefore they didn't on the aircond.
- so at the end they only willing to pay the least and master room and the small room have to pay most of it because we use aircond frequently.
here's their calculation. RM300/4 - the couple in the middle room will pay for 1 portion, and the other 3 portions bared by me and the single tenant.

btw, is that my problem that they don't want to use the aircond?
am i obligated to listen to their so-called reasons and pay more than what i'm supposed to? it was agreed that everything divides equally so am i the wrong one for not paying more than the divided amount?

i'm quite frustrated because it happened twice, the house i stayed previously and the current house. i don't understand why is it so hard to find nice housemates who are willing to talk nicely instead of yelling at ppl for those reasons which don't make any sense to me...

advise needed, am i the wrong one?

seriously i don't think i'm wrong so why should i listen to them? they can afford to buy gucci bags, ipad, iphone but increase of 20-30 bucks can't afford to pay? summore we are sharing streamyx as well, the streamyx is actually my account, they said want to share so i share it with them, total bill divide by 5 person but the couple connect 4 devices and only paying for 2 shares..fair enough? i didn't even ask them to pay more and the line slow like shit with 7 devices connected..i just want to know am i wrong? if u were me will u pay what they ask for?

must b u torrent 24/7 wit heavily overclock pentium D pc paired wit 3 way SLI gtx480.

ask u landlord to install separate electricty meter in each room...

i think it's your fault.

People very save electric d but yet bill came out high amount.

Let say if they open aircond whole day and the bill came out rm 600. You also will not syok coz you have to pay extra too.
And also Master room need to pay more coz it's bigger room.


if that the case, put up notice to save electric. If the bill lower d. Can ask them don't complain coz they computer running whole day too.

First of all, the previous month electricity bill so cheap is because only 2 rooms got ppl stay, the master room is empty. i rent a room with aircond but cannot on aircond, then what's the point i rent room with aircond? as i said, i only on when i go to bed at night, is that too much?
moreover, u rent a room but u dun use the aircond, why not u go get a room without aircond lar? the rooms got no meter, how can u accuse me use more than u? if got separate meter i won't argue so much but now the problem is i don't think i overuse. even if the bill over Rm600 i will still pay my share, i won't make noise as i already agreed everything share equally.

one more thing, my master room ain't bigger than their middle room, just with a personal bathroom that's it.

Maybe the couples are homophobic.

u got aircond so people assume you consume more electricity. fact

to be more steady, and no hassle, just calculate it 4 days, u and ur partner, the middle room, and the single tenant...
basically if 300, u will be paying 50 extra if u dont mind..if ppl canot tolerate then u cant do anything, but u can cincai n let it go if just normal argument..or u can monitor ur usage oso, off the aircon for a day n compare.

n regarding the streamyx, tell them no torrent during day n night time...midnite then ok..or allocate each room with 1 IP add...

did u make things clear? i'm not complaining here...i pay my share, they are the one who making noise saying i have to pay more than wat is agreed..

I c.. sorry then. I didn't read you just move in. If all of you stay there long, bill suddenly rise then can negotiate la.

If this the case, then they cannot complain. If they don't like. Go buy or rent whole house.
About internet, I created a agreement that only can torrent, pps or download after 12 midnight.

their room got aircond also wad...then i can't assume they use more?

convince the couple to use their aircon since the bill is share equally. maybe ask all tenants agree to set aircond auto cut off time from night till morning to make all tenant are treat equally.

never ever rent an air cond room becuz there will be arguments, only use air cond when u have your own house

I think you missed out an important fact in your argument. do you know that electricity is at cheaper rates for the first few blocks ? after that quota, it's a different rates all together. you need to talk to your landlord on this. everyone should pay an equal share. ..and stop sharing ur streamX, you won't know what they use it for.
