There is a tweak called Aptbackup which is free from cydia that save a list of tweaks that you installed on the phone. This will be backed up via iTunes and when you restore and install Aptbackup, it will be able to tell you what tweaks were installed before. It does not restore the tweaks though. PKGbackup is a paid tweak that supposedly is able to restore your Cydia tweak but it has never worked for me. 10 bucks wasted for that useless program.

Tweaks in Cydia usually cost higher than most apps in the AppStore. Then again, the percentage of people who jailbreak their iPhone is probably 15-20% of total iPhone users. So price has to be a bit higher.

Celeste is another expensive tweak that was riddled with problems. Spent 10 bucks on that as well and now it's not compatible with ios 5, sigh.... Also found that I don't use it that much so I've gotten rid of all my Nokia phones.

Have you tried restoring WITHOUT Jailbreaking? Tell us if the lag is there prior to the jailbreak.

Backup your iPhone. Update to 5.0.1, jailbreak is redsn0w and restore your backup.

It's there in the home screen options but not in te lock screen. That's okay though. I'm
Setting it up as my unlock button.

I was on 5.0.1 semi-tethered as well so I installed only Corona and uninstalled semi-tether. My activator is the latest version 1.58. When I go back home, I might try to uninstall activator.

I suspect it's a pass code issue. My company requires me to have a pass code on my iPhone otherwise I will not be able to get the company email on the phone. I noticed that once the pass code is requested, you cannot even unlock using the vol + button. So I suspect it's a security feature.

Nothing in the repo. Cydia is still slow.

Updated my activator to 1.60. Seems to have solved my vol+ button issue in the Lockscreen.


Ehhhh.... While I was typing this, it does not work again if the screen goes to sleep. Sometime it does, sometime it doesn't.

You need to edit your host file. There's a line there that's causing the restore to give you a 3194 error. Remove or put a hash in front of any IP address with the corresponding gs.apple.com

i.e. 127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com

So delete that line or put a hash infront of it

#127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com

Jailbreak and unlock are 2 different things.

Jailbreak allows you to install tweaks that are not approved by Apple

Unlock allows you to unlock your locked set and use other carrier's simcard

To unlock, you need to jailbreak (unless you are using the Gevey Sim)

The iPhone baseband CANNOT be downgraded, so if you have upgraded the baseband, you will not be able to unlock your iPhone (ultrasn0w only works up to 01.59 baseband for the iPhone 4 and Gevey does not support any iOS5 related baseband i.e. 4.11.08) so if you are using a locked set with ultrasn0w, DO NOT TOUCH iOS5 unless you know how to create a custom firmware (creating an iOS5 firmware but preserving the baseband)

Also if that does not work, use another computer or another USB port. Avoid using any USB Hub, connect the iPhone directly to the USB port in the computer and try again.

Restore and jailbreak again.
