I will rerun redsn0w once I am back with my computer. The boot was looooong. That was the longest 20 seconds of my life. My mind was already, ohhh damn, where do I put that guy's phone number. Should have written it down before attempting to do this.

Mail, Safari, everything works fine for me. Reboot is a bit long though. It respring when I first opened safari but now everything ok. I just installed corona.

SBsetting which is the most important working fine. Bitesms works fine. All tweaks are working fine.

Cydia must be slammed right now.

Backup is a good thing. It takes a while but it's worth it if anything were to happen during the jb process.

Not sure if it supported for 5.0. I suggest you upgrade to 5.0.1

If you are on 5.0, you can update directly using your phone. No need to connect to a computer. The size is about 45MB

Gist of the jailbreak 5.0.1 untether

1. If you are not on 5.0.1, upgrade to 5.0.1 and jailbreak untethered using the latest redsnow.
2. If you are already on 5.0.1 and are currently on tethered jailbreak. you have 2 choices, rejailbreak using the latest redsnow or the easiest being to download And install Corono Untether 5.0.1 from Cydia.
3. If you are on 5.0.1 but have not jailbreak the phone, run redsnow.
4. If you have semi-tether installed, uninstall it. You can do that before or after installing corona. I did it after installing corona and the iPhone will respring.
5. If after installing corona, you have an issue (hang etc) either respring or do a hard reboot of the iPhone. Should clear all the trash from the cydia installation or uninstallation.

You need to be super careful since yours is a locked US set. Don't simply upgrade to 5.0.1 . You need to create a custom 5.0.1 firmware and preserve your baseband. Go to iClarified and find the correct tutorial to create the custom firmware.

If yours is a Maxis set, then a stock upgrade will ensure that it is factory unlocked again. Do a stock upgrade (using iTunes or by downloading the official 5.0.1 firmware) and you should be able to get the factory unlock.

After the stock upgrade. Test by inserting different sim card from different operator (Digi, maxis etc). Once you confirm that it can use those simcard, you are now ready to jailbreak untether.

You do not need to preserve baseband since your iPhone is a maxis set. Something must has gone wrong before. This is my suggestion

1. Upgrade to stock 5.0.1 firmware. Either via iTunes (slow and may et connection error because the file is huge) or by downloading the stock 5.0.1 IPSW file directly (Google "Where to download iPhone firmware iClarified") and you will get the right page with all the links. Make sure you download the correct firmware version for your iPhone. Once the file has been downloaded, you can just press Shift + Restore and point it to your 5.0.1 IPSW file ( you do this in iTunes by the way)

2. Once your stock upgrade is complete, test your iPhone with different operator simcard to confirm that the iPhone is back to it's factory unlock like its supposed to.

3. Once that is confirmed, you can run the jailbreak.

Before you proceed, can you tell me what is your current baseband?

That is the correct one. You're already on a baseband that cannot be unlocked by ultrasn0w and if you currently can use different operator simcard, then your phone is factory unlocked. I suspect when you tried to jailbreak it before, something went wrong somewhere. You should be able to do based on my suggestion (use stock 5.0.1 firmware)

Aiyoooo, I thought you were on 4.3.3, that's why I thought you need to download 5.0.1 IPSW, if you are already on 5.0.1 and already jailbroken, just open Cydia and search for Corona. Install Corona Untether 5.0.1 and you should have an untethered jailbreak.

Phil, go to changes Tab and then press the refresh button. It might take a while. If that fails, then you may need to go through the redsn0w route.

I downloaded it 20 minutes after the jailbreak was released. Now, I am sure cydia is slammed with request similar to a DDOS.

Can I ask for those who jailbreak using redsnow instead of corona, how long for the iPhone to come out of boot? Mine takes 80 seconds using Corona.

SBsettings is working fine. Remove background works fine. Most of the tweaks I have works fine but I have been on semi-tether for the past 2 weeks.
