it's recommended change is every 100k KM
and as u know it could last way over 100k KM....go double also can
20+ years?....newer gen car can't even last 20 years bro
newer gen car's lifespan is 200k KM or 7-8 years only...only old gen car can last 20 years like the old saga
*
What's wrong with the newer gen? My mum's Iswara is 20 yrs old now still kicking. I hope my FLX can last 20 yrs. When I upgrade to Volvo my FLX can use as 2nd car. tongue.gif

Yup, last min DIY ... pics tell story...

And yup, used up left-over of LED stripe from Boot Lamp DIY... thumbup.gif
A last minute decision...wasted 1 stripe cos soldering was kinda poor causing intermittently lighting up only...
Extra work...  sweat.gif
Had to make new stripe...and re-connect.
Eureka! 2nd stripe worked!! rclxms.gif

Source of power : From fuse (for headlamps - LHS Driving lamp) in Fusebox in engine compartment so line is fused & protected.

Wanna try?  icon_rolleyes.gif

Ya, almost 100+ now. At one time had a tough time renewing her insurance. Luckily last year got new rule saying old car can renew at Post Office and no need send to JPJ.

iswara is old gen...not new
newer gen are like waja, new saga, myvi...those car
nowadays car won't last that long not becuz they dnt last long
it's the manufacturer doesn't want it to last that long
if your car can last that long...what profit do they make, how do they stay alive
just think it's your company....nowadays it's all abt money...not like last time
cars won't last over 10 years.
around 7-8 years...something is gonna broke...it's either the engine or the GB
and anyone of them broke will cost u a fortune to repair it...and repairing it doesn't guarentee it won't come back
that's why ppl always go for new car
no car now can last 20 years...it's a dream...manufacturer won't allow it
*
I wonder how do they engineer the GB or engine to disintegrate in 10 yrs? I wld think with better/more precise technology, things wld work smoother/longer?

If can, I would have bought the FLX without the engine. Then source my own engine and put in. tongue.gif

any significant/major difference in sound quality if we just change the front speakers n continue to use stock HU?
*
I think u should change all 4 speakers + tambah amp to drive those new spks. For me, I am also adding a JBL bass tube taken out from my old car. Then only can hear the diff. HU can upgrade in the end when have money. Me looking around for good spks now. I heard Dynaudio spks cost 2.5K. cry.gif

abt amp, one accessory shop told me put amp only if u wana put woofer if not amp no use oso...
but me not into woofer... heavy+not into rock+not soo into bass.. more into treble if u understand what i mean...
i want all the sounds rather then duk duk duk oni.. hehehe

so still ok to use amp if dowan woofer?

ya i heard d same... HU can upograde in the end coz ours has already hv cd,mp3 n usb.
*
Technically if your HU has built-in amps, u dun need additional amps to drive the spks. But I can tell u, having dedicated amps to drive the spks will have very noticeable difference.

If on a budget, u can get those 4-ch amps that can drive all 4 speakers. Ppl with budget will get 2 separate amps to drive front + rear spks.

Subwoofer is a different thing. Some folks get a monobloc amp to drive the sub alone. Actually woofer is not just for rock etc. Some music like classical have a very low frequency rumble that is beyond normal speakers freq range and the sub will be able to deliver this range.

Add Mit logo is okay. Cos Proton has Mit DNA, if not for Mit help in the early days, there will be no Proton today. I think to this day, most Proton models can be ftted with Mit engine. thumbup.gif

I agree with V12. From a purely aesthetic standpoint, Proton's logo looks fine...just the company's reputation is questionable. unsure.gif

To be honest one of my pet peeve is people fitting mitsu badges on their proton cars, it's like buying fake LV handbag from pasar malam. Everyone know it's not LV, but still wanna pretend. doh.gif

Proton's logo is much much better then before lor....remember the sickle moon and star logo?  sweat.gif
*
LOL, I tend to agree. Many years ago, I used to drive a Mitsubishi Colt 1.6GLX and some idiot stole my Mit star logo, probably to stick to their Satria. cry.gif

But someday I might drive a Proton with an implanted Mit engine, so maybe that entitles me to stick some Mit logos? hehe...

Hey guys, just a quick question for you guys. Im planning to get a new Saga FLX soon, just wanna ask for some advice from you guys. Is it good? Which spec/ range should I pick? TQ in advance
*
My FLX is good so far. Some small problems like boot closing not so smooth. The rear spoiler has "ngek ngek" sound when I press on it, I think all QC issues typical for Proton. BTW if u need a good branch/sales person, I can recommend mine, she's really fast worker.

QUOTE(gogoman86 @ Oct 3 2011, 08:52 AM)
there is only 2 spec to choose from... everything is same except Executive covered :
1. ABS + EBD
2. Dual Airbag
3. Audio HU which able to play USB/AUX
4. 14" Alloy Rim
5. Fog Light (no sure standard spec have it or not)
6. Pre-tensioner Seatbelt
7. 4 Power Window (come with lifetime warranty)
8. Steering Wheel with Audio Switch

meanwhile which colour should choose from, that's your choice bro...  icon_rolleyes.gif

* to other forumer out there, any miss out please do add-in ya...
*
9. Extra bag of jumper cables in the boot.
10. Detachable coin holder cum ash tray. tongue.gif

Can Drive around 120km/h ?? Bcz I dont wanna reach KT around 2 or 3AM in the morning..perhaps I would say optimum speed and time for me to reach KT?

Thank you so much.
I know that Zeone, thats why I am kinda of frus now sad.gif I just wanna know whether my car can push above 20k milleage or  not bcz I really worry about the engine and might want to hear some advise from u all. If it is not adisable then maybe I just rent a car for 2 day and drive to KT.

THanks for your help bro
*
No need to be so serious. The 20k mileage is just a rough guideline. Today I sent in my car for 1K service, actual mileage was 1,360km.

My experience today at Mutiara D'sara SC - 1,000km servicing

Last week
Called up last Thursday to make appt for Mon at 10am. Gal said sorry, 10.30am staff go for tea break. Okay, how about 11am. Gal said okay.

Monday
11.05am: Reached there 5 mins late. Gave gal my details. She said wait. Lounge area quite comfy, flatscreen TV playing Discovery channel. Can read newspapers. Two PCs for surfing but 1 not working and another guy hogging the only PC available.

12pm: After waiting 1 hr, couldn't take it. Told gal I haven't makan and very hungry. She checked, okay, my turn. Young lady (looks like East M'sian frm her accent) took me to my car outside, I told her normal service, boot has problem closing. She said ok, asked me sign a form, say will take around 2-3 hrs and estimated costs around RM170/-. Said they will call me when ready. Took my time go for lunch, go Ikea, Tesco, Curve etc.

2.30pm: Tired of walking. Went back saw my car parked near entrance so I think it's ready. Asked gal why didn't call me, she said "still preparing bill." Waited few mins and went to pay bill.
i) Engine oil...... RM103 (Petronas Pentium)
ii) Oil filter........ RM12.22
iii) Gasket drain plug.... RM3.32
iv) Engine treatment...... RM48 (apa ini?)
Total.......... RM166.54

When I went home, realised boot closing problem still the same. Think they didn't even bother to check. All in, a routine service took up 3.5 hrs. I am thinking of the money I could have made in that few hours (opportunity cost).

While I was there, I noticed a a poster saying "60 min service". Asked her, what is it, she said "Oh if u bring your car in at 7.45-8am, you can enjoy that 60min service.". I said "Oh, your gal didn't mention when I called to make appt. But will take note for next service."

Question:
Does it make sense to spend RM2-3K for ICE on a cheap Saga? I mean, although I like the FLX ride and handling, it's still not a Volvo or Estima. Every passing motorbike or lorry I can hear the sound outside clearly and no amount of soundproofing will change that. Or should I just get a cheap (but decent) ICE around 1K and save the money for my "akan datang" cars? hmm.gif

Dear,

I'm very interested to purchase a FLX with CVT and executive line.
I was wondering my friend have been saying that CVT is not that "powerful" to drive when on highway or something like that. Although there's the "simulation of 6 gear" it'll still be slow. I wonder if that's true.
*
Yes, what you heard is true. It's very slow. For your needs, you should consider a Ferrari, Lotus Esprit or Maserati which are more powerful cars.

However, if you are like most of us Ahmad, Ah Chong and Muthu with only RM45K to spend on a 1.3cc car, the FLX is the best value for money, some say even better than the "lagi best" car costing 10K more.

I was keen on getting that lagi best car, too, until I saw some newspaper reports that showed the car self-igniting on the highway. Not to mention the perut-dua salesman screwed me up on a false promise.

Dear,
Thanks for the info. My budget is around 50k to 60k. So I think flx would be better choice for me. Since actually my dad have two Persona elegance already I wouldn't wanted to have another Persona in house garage. Nevertheless. Thanks you very much for the information.
*
With that budget I would advise u to get FLX. With the spare change, u can buy a set of Dynaudio speakers (RM4K), amps etc. And I guarantee you would take the longer route home just so u can enjoy the ICE.

Bag pack which contain several electronic devices and laptop gone. I know some of you will say "Why I didn't take it out". After whole day of meeting and frust in the office , I forget damn forget to take out although I just walk to nearby restaurant to dabao food (which took me less than 30 minutes!!!!!!!) and when I came back to car, everything gone.

This happen in Cheras ( Tai Zhi Yuan ) or I think it is call Taman Putera?? around 7.30PM.
*
Sorry to say but this is too common. My friend lost all his cameras etc even though he left his car unattended for 5-10 mins. I think everyone shld remember not to leave any valuables in full view to tempt robbers.

they take away the whole glass away la

no amount of security tint can counter that.

Trunk also not safe. Actually once u r marked, it doesn't matter what tint u use.

Re: security tint etc, it offers a false sense of security as all glass/tints can be broken.

What u shld get are those that prevents the glass from shattering into pieces and hurting you or your loved one seated beside u. For eg in a motorbike-drive-by-break-glass-and-grab-valuables situation. The tint will hold the glass together and prevent it from flying into pieces and also the thief will have to hit the glass a 2nd or 3rd time to rip it apart. By which time, the element of surprise is gone.
