Sad to say when I said my budget for speakers is RM2K, Howie didn't reply me anymore in PM. I guess it all boils down to $$$. sad.gif

I think you can get decent sound with a 2k budget but you won't be able to get everything at one go. In my case I got a new amp, Dynoaudio 2nd hand comps and my old wiring altogether for just about 2k. Then the HU another 800.

Honestly bro, if you're going to start ICE, go for the best you can afford and tutup kedai. If you buy the lowest end one due to budget, you'll get poisoned later on into upgrading and upgrading is a never ending story.

im poisoned to upgrade, however im not touching my current car anymore  whistling.gif

i think the main thing here, is to at least complete an entry level setup, then perhaps proceed from there, or full stop smile.gif

fyi my setup is rm 2k only and i'm happy with it
maybe later only change my hu
maybe u should pay him a visit then he can recommend u

I have the same idea as u guys. Budget 2K for spks first (maybe with cables). Then upgrade HU etc step by side. I had bad experience at an ICE shop in Spore when the guy made a rude remark after the demo when I didn't buy anything on the spot. I guess it's the same here. No money no talk.

I think the next time an installer ask me what's my budget, I should say 20K then maybe get better service. whistling.gif

if ur mindset is already like that, then u will even get more flame after u visit more shop.....say wan 20k end up buy 2k i think some other shop will like wtf and shoot u kao kao.....

if i only do 20k setup, i believe lyn only got less than 10ppl is my customer lor...but i do wish got many 20k customer....lolz
No offence, dude, but I dun buy that at all. If an ICE installer wanna size me up and decide whether to serve me or not based on the size of my wallet, then I would say the approach is wrong to start with. I think it's a common thing for a customer to walk into a shop and say he has 2K budget, but when shown a lot of professionalism, honest opinions and options, he may walk away spending 4K and being satisfied, too. And it happened just like that for my last car. Just my 2 sen.

PS: BTW I did PMed u 2x. My opinion is that if u have time to post here and do so much sales talk, surely u have time to check yr PMs, too. Another installer has PMed me btw, and guess who I will be visiting soon? nod.gif

Seriously speaking... when I was there last week... it took them 4 hours before they can work on my car... and the 4 hrs of waiting... is well worth it as I manage to get Howie to setup for me... and darn good too. Regarding if he is bz or not... its a miracle that he can still post here... coz he was sooo freaking busy on last weekend man.

I have no qualms recommending my frens to him as he is very pro... and dont simply recommend things which is out of ur budget.
Bro, I'm sure u have your religion and believe in miracles (like how he has time to post here). But not everyone share your same faith. Sorry to say, I would not waste 4 hrs to get my car done (think opportunity-cost).

To be fair, initially I had high hopes on him and shared with him what I wanted to get done. But after receiving his reply "wads yr budget?" and silence after I gave him an answer, I realise it's all about $$$.

No offence, Howie. I wish u well in your business. I'm sure u will find lots of believers out there. smile.gif

maybe your expectation dont reflect your budget?
Ok, today I'm quite free so I tok-kok-sing-song a bit.

So u think a budget of RM2K (mebbe stretching to 3-4K if I can be convinced) for 2 front + 2 rear spks are "below expectations"? hmm.gif

Wow, he writes your pay cheque?

QUOTE(craziechild @ Oct 5 2011, 05:27 PM)
my work experience... when asked, "whats your budget?"

customer's thinking: woah... once talk then money money money... like i print money...

service provider's thinking: i am trying to set a scope on what i can offer you...

there is no point recommending you a Focal Utopia BE No.7 then come down to K2P then come down agian to Access... and in the end... what you wanted was just a DLS basic series... those time are better used to cut a mid baffle, or wirings or dismantling your door panels...

I read 2x but don't understand what u r trying to say... rclxub.gif

Anyway speaking generally, for sellers out there (not aiming at anyone), don't treat yr customers like idiots. There are some, like me, who have done their homework. I know how much Dynaudio vs Focal vs Polk Audio etc costs and I know 2-3K is enough to get the job done. In this instance, I just wanna know if the installer have my interest at heart and is willing to help me along on the path to achieving my aim. He shouldn't be looking at my wallet.

I could be walking into your shop today with a small wallet and a BLM. But would u know that I also have an Estima sitting at home that I might bring in based on your 1st service performance? Or that my friend drives a Ferrari?

This is why I dislike 'chatting' in forums....
izso and Quazacolt, thanks for playing peace-maker. izso, your advice on spks is what I already know, but thanks anyway.

To all others, howie and I have more or less stopped. Both of us made our points and I am giving him the benefit of the doubt when he said he missed my PM (although I sent 2x) but nvm lah. Drop it.

No need for anymore heroes to come in and chip in their last 2 sen. Move on to other topics okay? TQ. smile.gif
