You feel that Vanguard is outperforming the Dow Jones Market?
*
I think some of them are.. but some of them aren't. It depends on which one.
You can compare them at Yahoo for 12 months, 24 months and 5 years too.

Also, past performances doesn't always mean future will be the same.

Some of these funds, you have to look deeper to see what inside.
It takes time to do the research.

UE percentage jump up, numbers were less than 200k.
That's means Fed not going to taper!

It's a BUY signal! Bulls win! Don't short! wink.gif

Tell that at the gold investment thread, you will be shot upside down.  tongue.gif

But i agree useless yellow metal......... rclxms.gif

I did.. there's always two sides of the trade.

The gold bugs are actually in a LOT of pain. Anyone who bought since last year is still under water. The entire 2012 revenue is gone.
Those who bought stocks instead of gold in 2012 got as high as 20% in earnings. Those who bought physical gold actually could be losing -40% if they bought at the peak because they have to actually pay up to +20% for those physical gold bar and also have to pay a fee to store them.

IMO, Gold is not the investment after 2010 because the inflation fear is simply not there. Those who bought thinking Gold will hit $2000/oz are still dreaming.. when they hear this and they buy, this is when hedge funds will sell into them and hand them the big bag. laugh.gif

Reckon the rally will continue for 2-3 months?? With the continue money printing and low interest rate..

Another Concern = Nation Debt ceiling may hit limit in Sept. and its credit rating may downgrade again from AA+ to AA- by S& P or other credit
company in Oct ??
*
Not really.. stocks will either have to hit new high within a week or so or it will just trade around a range bound cycle for the next few months.
But now, the BUY signal is here.. we're moving up! Just buy the dip again and don't fight this trend.

Not worry about debt ceiling or useless credit ratings. After S&P downgrade, market went EVEN HIGHER!
Therefore there is very little thing they can do. Uncle Ben still in control of the market. He's flying in his helicopter giving out money. laugh.gif

In this market... bad econ numbers are good for market, and good numbers are bad for market.
Just move opposite side.. LOL!

Hi,i am trading Malaysian stocks for the past 3 years, now wanna learn to trade us stocks..may i ask any1 using MBtrading??is it good??seems like the cheapest broker around..or are there any other recommendations?
*
I find MBTrading fees are very attractive (as low as $1 per 100 shrs) if you trade a lot and don't mind the less-than-stellar platform. But, the MBT Deskpro seems frustrating to use especially for charting. Not as powerful like ToS (ThinkorSwim). Options also cheap at MBT Deskpro. Options tools are limited but ok if you're just a normal trader.

One think I find lacking too is MBTrading execution is not that fast. Eg. If you manage to bid lowest price of the day, your low bid don't get executed until LOD is one pt below your bid. WTF? doh.gif

ToS on TDA has no issue on this. I tested this when both I bid the same on two platforms, my ToS execution hits at the same time when LOD hits. MBT Pro bid just sit there.. as if nothing happens. I think MBT uses a very slow exchange and your bid is at the last part of the queue.

QE Taper = Most Probable in Fed Meeting 17-18 Sept 2013  hmm.gif and Press Conference Call by Uncle Ben .. Why QE Taper?
Becos US Economy is getting / gradually better and can breathe without oxygen support.
End of Sept = Debt Limit .. Congress, Senate and White House will debate and battle again.

Expect at least 10% or more healthy correction. Market is overbought.. Wait VIX spike > 30pts and above.
Continue holding blue-chip and continue increase yr cash level to see any good bargain hunting.
*
We haven't got a $VIX > 30 for long time.. not since the serious street fighting in Greece against austerity.
If $vix goes to 30, I want to see -20% down from top! Not meager -10%. whistling.gif

The real problem is in banking sector and manufacturing sector of China.

The rising of chinese yuan recently kinda  "forced" by USD rising indirectly causing a lot of manufacturing sector in really bad condition with their previous tiny profit margin. Most of the money by these entrepreneur flee away from real economic activity to unproductive economy such as goreng real estate market & etc. The local government in China had trouble to repay their money to banks institution in China, the only solution is to "borrow more to pay existing debt" method.

In US, totally opposite is happening, banking sector recovering while unemployment start going down. So it is not surprising the major trend will continue for another 2 year - 4 years ( with some minor correction in between, OK I am not trying to timing here , just my noobie guess). Actually I still dunno why people claim that US index in all high time bla bla bla, super overvalued compared to our market and some compare the index to gold price. In fact the overall market in just in P/E 10 - 11 though I know P/E is not a good indicator.
*
IMO, the rising Yuan is so meager, it actually hasn't cause exports to diminish that much. But, the austerity measure in Europe is the major cause for the past few quarters, that China is seeing the declining exports to them, furthermore, China now is being put on the "extra' tariff by EU because they're dumping their goods. China got themselves to blame, they were clearly warned yet their State sponsored companies continue to get large substantial amount of subsidies to overproduce those solar panels.

Some of the China bulls were harping the 'bubble' isn't there but merely going to be tapered off with more restrictive lending by the govt and their govt wants a 'soft' landing. But, their financial market is in a death spiral for the past 3 years. Maybe there is a huge disconnect, maybe not but we all know we can't trust the financial statements published by the China-based companies in China because their 'dual' accounting reports.

If there is indeed a bubble, eventually, it will correct itself with a blow up.. it's about time the real estate there go kaboom with those ridiculous inflated prices. brows.gif

I have opened CIMB I trade account last few days.
I am planning to purchase Apple's stocks as my first holding stock.
Read previous posts, u guys are mentioned market in red now.
So, it's an good opportunities for me to buy in?
I would appreciate if you guys could give me some advice or recommendation  mellow.gif

I don't mean to discourage you but newbie should stay clear of AAPL. I mean it. nod.gif
Once you get burned, you'll never return.

Just pick a few less volatile ones or simply invest in general index like Dow (DIA) or SP500 (SPY) for now. nod.gif

Yes the accounting reports/ statements heavily manipulated even those listed in H shares. Close to 90% of my portfolio are holding these Chinese Banks even though I knew what's wrong with their financial report. sweat.gif
Waah.. you're playing very dangerous game. That's too much in one sector alone.

For me, I don't buy and hold Chinese related stocks anymore.. all of them usually trade (usually short side) and go and most of them have either have low PE or extremely high PE. No middle ground.

Ya oh, I was thinking Apple is currently gonna to launch a range of new products.
I thought it might be affected their share price rises once their products released in the market.
*
Sure man, they'll launch new products. But, market is not kind to those new products if it is just another cycle.
Take a look at share price before iPhone5 launch last Sept. Fast fwd 3 months (one quarter) later and their BIGGEST quarter
when they're expecting to have the biggest earnings in Q1 2013. So, what happened? laugh.gif

Whatever you do, better watch your portfolio carefully. Chinese stocks taken to the cleaners very easily even for those big name ones like BIDU, DANG, RENN or SINA. Either they stay flat or down almost 50% for the past 12-24 months.

The small caps ones can go to zero or get de-listed easily. A lot of them did because they fail to report their earnings timely and then suddenly we hear of accounting fraud. What a scam.. how did those pirates get listed in the first place? shakehead.gif

notworthy.gif ,

The underwriters sure knew something is wrong. But maybe they want to goreng by shorting all these stocks when the timing is right  brows.gif .
*
Yeah.. same goes for the auditors. They knew something is wrong, then they resign themselves and the company postpones their quarterly report. That's when we see the stock price begin to decline immediately. After delisted, SEC may take action over after a few years because it is extremely difficult to get China to cooperate because those Chinese companies won't release their audit or financial report in detail to SEC. By that time, it is too late.

See how that works? They want to get listed in US stock exhange, they publish all sorts of financial reports and accounting
info before listed, and after listed, if something goes bad, they cite Chinese govt laws prohibit them from releasing accounting info because it is state secret. Therefore, it is extremely difficult for the US regulators go after them. Best thing to do is just to ban these pirate ships from being listed.
