Looks like the bull wants to push it to green.... tongue.gif

I somehow feeling more bullish actually. Cook's decision to mark it as now a mature company (who pays good dividend with share buyback) is reasonable. It's better to be reasonable and as a common person than to be a stubborn common person (since Cook knows he's not Job, he's just ordinary). So Apple will no longer a legend as before, but still a brand that produced great (if not best) quality gadgets. This is good enough for a company to sustain.  hmm.gif
*
The general market still bullish but not sure about AAPL.. seems it stagnant here.

AAPL now has accumulated 144bln in CASH so far.. sure they can sustain in profitability but the growth trajectory has slowed. The problem is because so many crazy people have unreasonably high expectation that AAPL is going to be like when it first launched the iPhone in 2007. Big wow factor back then...Now, they're disappointed.. that's why the stock price fell from the highs.
CEO T.Cook admits the outlook isn't as rosy, no new products until after 3rd quarter or so.. that's a sell signal but we still got some 'value' buyers stepping in at this level - which I think they will quickly give up this position, just like they gave up the $500 level.

Miners like FCX and TCK are bouncing back.. catching bids. As does gold.. but still way below the 1500 trap door when it fell thru.
Miner equip maker CAT also bounced off the lows..holding at $83.
Looks like China's commodity appetite is coming back. hmm.gif

Tech looking good too: GOOG, MSFT, AMZN, AAPL...

Not yet. But started to get excited. I wish the "sell in May and go away" sentiment can send Apple down to 300.  tongue.gif
*
300-320 would be the classic technical H&S retracement from the top ..

If 300 that means AAPL completely lost all the 2011-2012 earnings.. all the sales of iPhones 4S and iPAD 3 as if nothing new has been created. But, I don't think big boys will let this happen and they will step up their machines to buy ahead of those numbers.

At 350-360, I think I'll see capitulation happen.

btw, what is your comments on this year's May-June market? It's tricky since US economy seems to picking up more "believable" for many this year. Could this "sell in May" effect minimum this year? I was wondering. As China also seems continue recovering, as this may confirm the fact of its market has truely bottom.  hmm.gif
*
Do you believe history repeats itself? If so, then May-June-July will just be like last year..and the year before.

Wallstreet traders call this the summer swoon, or maybe this is just a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The reality is because the volume dies down..Majority institutional traders pack up their bags (sell the risky, hold the winners) and go for holidays and left the machines on to trade by themselves. Skynet will be left in charge. Hackers may take another chance to feed Skynet with false news to take it down.. brows.gif

Anyway, let's watch for opportunity.. if happens, then some of those stocks that you like to own will be on sale, then grab 'em. smile.gif

Not yet... like yok70 said earlier, I think the big boys want to let them see 1600-1625 first.

The market is still pretty strong.. the giant vacuum is sucking the air on top of the chart... pulling a lot of money from sidelines.

Everyone who hasn't invested will be saying.. OMG, I missing it.. so they jumped in.. and when everyone piles in..
you know what happens next.. laugh.gif

yeap, the price already expected Amazon will make more than 100 times of its current earning. Quite speculative if buy at current price.

But I wish someday I can have the opportunity to buy this stock  sweat.gif ....waiting and waiting and waiting.....
*
Actually, now would be a good opportunity to trade it.. a dip here at -7%, back to 200ma support level.
Buy here AT 253-254, put a tight stop at 251.

if Apple breakout 450, it will be the first bull sign?..... hmm.gif

I would think so.. need another day for a follow up after break up above the 50ma (433).
Last month, we got a head fake..(469).. then bam, fell right back down hard with lower low to 385.

If this fail.. we could see another lower low.. that's would be very bad for AAPL longs.

Is AAPL's surge related to the bond issue?

Apple taps markets for record $17bn funding

Computer giant Apple is asking investors for $17bn (£10.9bn) to help fund extra payouts to shareholders in the biggest ever bond issue by a non-banking company.

Most likely..so.

It's a crazy move but because the interest rate so low, heck, they would rather borrow money to pay investors dividends eventho they got TONs of cash on hand. Can you believe this?

thanks.

And i'm waiting for lower lower lower lows desperately! If hit 320, I might turn very greedy.  brows.gif

Me too but.. can't be too greedy.

There was no follow thru overnight.. AAPL pulls slightly back to low 434 but remain closed above the 50ma (432) at 439.
The general market also pulls back with profit taking too.. so it's not too bad. Keep a tight stop for AAPL at 432.

If AAPL doesn't roll back down below 50ma tomorrow, I think AAPL can go to 469/470 before running into resistance.

Hi Sifus,

May I know whether there are any disadvantage in buying shares in odd lot in US. I plan to hold it for the long term (10 years +).

Thank you! notworthy.gif

What does "odd lot" means? Can you provide example? hmm.gif

Thanks Danmooncake for your help smile.gif

Odd lot means 1 to 99 shares. 1 lot = 100 units of shares.

I've read that in Malaysia, if you sell 20 units, there must be a buyer who wants to buy exactly 20 units. So it is hard to sell it. Not sure if this applies to US Market or not.
*
There is no concept of "lot" for US market...
otherwise there won't be many people playing AAPL or GOOG. 100 shares of GOOG will cost you a car or house. LOL! brows.gif

You can buy just 1 share of any common stock but for options, the contract is either 100 shares or 10 shares for minis.

You can sell any number of shares too.. it doesn't matter. The computers will match it and find various buyers who offers the bid to match your price and it will be filled.

Tonight, AAPL got the follow-thru... highs 448, all ready to blast off. laugh.gif

Thanks for the info. Have not trien it since open it almost a year ago. Now they closed my acct liao. Agree that TOS is quite difficult to use for beginners as it is quite powerful. You can even write scripts and create custom charts. Many online help and investing videos in Youtube are using TOS for their demo.

TDA also offers lots of free online seminar that you can attend. TOS is swiss army knife for trader. biggrin.gif
