successfully scalped DIA. Entry of PUT @ 138.80, ran @ 138.42, 10 cents higher than Fibo level 138.32.....but need to hv large contract...expensive comm. Appl better - 1 contract can enjoy big move in terms of absolute value.

QUOTE(netmask8 @ Jan 31 2013, 11:17 PM) Buy Queue for Bank of America ( BAC ) if the price is bargain hunting between usd 10.70 and usd 11 .. what's queue QUOTE(danmooncake @ Feb 1 2013, 10:46 AM) Anyway, you're absolutely correct observation for AAPL because it is volatile. But, it can be risky if you bought big and the price action goes against you. Therefore, for AAPL options you've to be nimble. Yeah nimble just like the fishes used in "Fish Therapy" Besides volatility, does the huge aapl underlying price plays any row? Bsc option is a fraction of the underlying, for instance: DIA underlying = $140+-, hence option will be around let say 1% of it = $1.40 premium. AAPL underlying = $450+-, premium = $4.50. Assuming everything is the same, we will need 3 contracts of DIA to match 1 contract of aapl in this case? Therefore, a slight move in aapl is actually 3 times move of DIA, can I say that? Percentage change for both are the same but absolute value? This post has been edited by countdown: Feb 1 2013, 12:36 PM |

I would prefer both as investor and a trader strategy based on percentage allocation. Most of the gurus would recommend stick to only one side but I beg to differ.
Hybrid. Currently the weightage is more on trading side This post has been edited by countdown: Feb 4 2013, 11:53 PM |

QUOTE(danmooncake @ Feb 4 2013, 11:53 PM) thanks man.I had observed the 10min charts, +$1 is quite tight, in fact 95% of the ranges hit more than $1 easily, should have increased to $2.1 instead. Lesson learnt but will only do trail stop, provided I had safely gained more than $2.1. If it swings more than that, at least I got back my capital. What do you think? I might be incorrect. |

QUOTE(danmooncake @ Feb 5 2013, 10:46 AM) It depends on which strike and whether it is in the money or out of money.. for AAPL, the shorter the week, the higher the implied volatility and as the underlying price moves (towards in-the-money or in-strike price), you can see it gains value fast (or lose value fast if it out of money). Ok, I have to mention my position in details, I bought 1 month option rather than weekly because not familiar with weekly's yet. I set my closing condition of stop loss and profit target based on the price movement of the underlying rather than the option premium/price. Therefore, the greeks involvement is not there though the option pricing is based on greeks. For example today, AAPL moves from 455 to 442 (-$13) -2.8%, 450 Puts value went from 4.40 (at open) to 12.50 (close).. +185%. but 450 calls value went from 8.60 (open) to 2.20 (close) = -75%. Still, thank you for your feedback on the volatility/vega This post has been edited by countdown: Feb 5 2013, 12:02 PM |

QUOTE(Matt4wd @ Feb 5 2013, 10:17 AM) Hi Gurus, It solely depends on what the user want. Are u a stock, option, forex or future traders? Low commission? Friendly platform and etc. What technical chart software you are using to trade US stock? How much it cost trading US stock?? Thanks Matt4wd For stock, I think any broker will do. But for option, I would prefer TOS and Interactive Broker. Others prefer Option House or Option Xpress and etc... Lowest comm I have seen is Interactive Brokers, u can check them out. As for forex, I think they are more on Meta...something something platform, couldn't recall. |

QUOTE(zamans98 @ Feb 6 2013, 01:32 AM) IB? http://www.interactivebrokers.com.hk/en/in...ssion&p=stocks1 IB for option, last time I saw:Quite good, but don't like their T&C, prefer MBTrading. Cheapest is SogoTrade $2.50 for each contract cost only 70 cents better than TOS in certain aspect. As for stock, IB charges $1 per trade provided each month fulfill a minimum quota of xx trades, if not a $xx dollar will be charged. I'm not using IB but my friend. |

QUOTE(zamans98 @ Feb 6 2013, 01:56 AM) no bro, I'm a newbie. TOS broker only allows me to day trade 3 times per 5 days rolling, so out of quota already unless I pump up my funds to $USD25k. I'm using limited funds because I'm still new to all these, only know some theories here and there, better to trade defensively. After few months, then I'll join all of you to scalp like no tomorrow let me kepochi on FB charts...hmmm quite reliable charts they have...... |

QUOTE(kimyee73 @ Feb 7 2013, 09:41 AM) If after a few months you can do scalping then you're really good. I don't like day trading, too intense and can get heart attack one. I like slow and steady like trading SPY, WDC, GS etc. Everytime I tried fast moving stocks I get burnt. Just got kicked out last night on DDD and WYNN but fortunately others saved my day. yes, scalping is intense, once stop loss and profit target are set, they lessen the stress significantly, in fact just observe the first 30 min to 60 mins and then set the appropriate target, we can go to sleep already (said is easier than done This post has been edited by countdown: Feb 7 2013, 10:03 PM |
