may i humbly ask, do you guys trade on earnings smile.gif? meaning hold an opened position till the announcement announced?

do you observe the option open interest of a stock that's going to make earning announcement as part of your decision makings? Yesterday, the call open interest as well as its volumn of AA showed a high value at ATM compared to its Put.

AAPL too expensive for a newbie like me. Most of the time, I trade with AAPL's suppliers which are closely correlated n more affordable entry point tongue.gif

Yeah, the commons are pricey. But, options are ok.  Take your pick.

But.. if you notice the price action.. whether it is $500 or $5.. the percentage move is what's count.  wink.gif

Fantastic movement for Apple.

From 585 down to 485 and based on my assessment, 475-485 will be holding tight before next gap.
*
Newbie, need lots of reassurance. Expectation of holding tight is due to "Stalled Pattern"?

After hours, AAPL: 460  -10.5%  drool.gif
More than the 5% move that I was hoping for.

Nice, I expect the PUT gain to exceed all my CALL loss tomorrow when market opens tonight.

Drooled with the 10% moved drool.gif but the delta gain of Put able to offset the delta loss of Call and both vega crush???

If new home sales improves further, this might give a good January Barometer that will lead 2013 as a bullish year.

aapl will bounce today...

It is oversold down here...at 450'ish level. So might be good opportunity to play a little dead cat bounce.   drool.gif

new home sales figure didn't deter or tame the bulls. Awaiting for a healthy dip before longing for short term of DJI.

no, he entered when Mother share price is $453.now is 457.39 Up 7.56(1.68%)

Thank you.

I had looked into the 5 & 10 mins aapl respectively, @ $453 mother share price, it was neither a dip of an uptrend nor a draw back of a down trend. What makes him to choose this long entry point rclxub.gif rclxub.gif ? The only reason I can think of is @ 10 mins, it's a Bullish Harami candlestick pattern supported by volumn above average??

danmooncake?

AAPL slowly craving out ascending price channel from that 435/436 double bottom yesterday.
I'm using fast 5m chart to view.. and the 50ema line as support line for my buy entry.

First target exit: 460 (almost there)
2nd target exit: 464/465 (if it can get there).

Hey guys, did you read AMZN results?

They missed on both eps and revenue BUT... stock price GOES HIGHER!!   shocking.gif

EPS: 21c vs. 28c estimates
Revenue: 21.27 bln vs 22.26 bln estimates
P/E: 3000

Income fell 45% for Q4 and extremely thin profit margin.

This how Wall Street works.. if you miss badly, it goes higher.  P/E doesn't matter.
If you meet expectation only,  that's 10% haircut.    doh.gif

Rinse and Wash to the maximum! That's the reason why I seldom trade on earning announcement smile.gif

do you guys keep records of your trades? Like a trading log and a trading journal?

Trading Log = Tracks your profit & loss.

Trading Journal = What's your entry and exits point, reasons of selecting that points, signals that indicates which direction you should select and etc..

Thank you smile.gif.

IMO, traditional Feb will be a tough month to trade as the upside could be limited. So, be careful going long into Feb here. Hold on to your tight stops and be ready to short or get some puts protection now to protect your long position.

tks for your guidance smile.gif. Finance sector usually will be tough on Feb and reverse on Mar smile.gif
