the spec sheet of NV56 at lowyat.net frontpage got 630/650 as GPU , should i hold me breath? laugh.gif

Well, Malaysia always seems to get the short end of the straw. The default configuration for the N56 when it was announced was a GT650M using GDDR5 VRAM paired with a FHD display.

When you have less expectations of a product, you tend to get disappointed less. laugh.gif

Don't see the "crippled" GPU as a problem since it's not a naming fiasco like the GT555M.

True about the first statement. i was so hyped for the n56 but what i've realised now and is pissing me off now is how these manufacturers now assume that customers are either desperate/stupid to shell out money on anything that has an ivy bridge processor on it. me and my friends saw the n56 in lowyat on saturday and the first thing they pointed out was the resolution is 1366x768, they couldn't believe that for the price rm3,599 that was what they were gonna get and we just simply walked away and went to the sony store, less than 10mins later they bought a sony vaio s 13.3" laptop with older specs (for less money of course). if asus just put a 1600x900 screen, they would've gotten those guys (and a lot of others) to buy, instead they want to use "ivy bridge" to sell their left over stock.
*
Well, you could have imported it if you didn't mind the wait. I'm guessing that by introducing the lower end SKU with such a premium price, Asus Malaysia just shot themselves in the foot.

After some digging, I found that the upcoming U47VC is an impressive piece of work. Just a bit disappointed they didn't stuff anything more powerful than a GT620M in it considering it could have supported at least a GT630M or GT640M LE.

If this source is to be believed, the specs aren't that bad: http://www.costcentral.com/proddetail/ASUS...CDS51/11594677/

And I think this is the version of the N46 that people hope to get.

Thanks for sharing bro notworthy.gif
Not really confident with the accuracy of the specifications though laugh.gif
Asus U47Vc, i3-2310M + Nvidia GT620M + 8GB RAM + 750GB HDD (5400rpm), W7HP, 6-cell battery

Asus N46, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT650M + 8GB RAM + 750GB HDD, W7HB

Let's hope more news would come out soon thumbup.gif
*
Not that surprised. Different SKUs for different regions. The N56VM in China is identical to the one we have here except it uses a FHD display.

And it's not unknown for U-series to have i3 processors. Also, in China W7HB is more common than it is here since people want an OS but don't want to pay so much extra. doh.gif

PS: It's an i3-3210M (Ivy Bridge) with HD4000.

Ops, if its Ivy Bridge then the spec might just be correct nod.gif
Pretty impressive this U47 considering its very light weight~
*
Yeah, and there's signs that there may be backlit keyboard on it. Looks like I might replace my U41SV after all. wink.gif

Btw, the Asus EeePC 1225B is now available. 3 SKUs apparently:

1225B-BLK031S
1225B-WHI013S
1225B-RED020S

All with AMD E-450 + AMD HD6320M + 2GB RAM + 500GB HDD, W7S and is retailing for RM1359.

after the nonsense asus has pulled with the n56 i highly doubt the models that'll come to malaysia will have the same specs. i remember last year when the u41sv just came out, on asus malaysia site they said usb 3.0 was optional. I sent a mail to them asking them where i could get the one with usb 3.0 to which they replied that it DOESN'T COME WITH USB 3.0 AT ALL. even now if you go to the site the "optional" usb 3.0 is still there( http://my.asus.com/Notebooks/Superior_Mobi...#specifications ), so pls don't get your hopes up especially with asus
*
That's just the configurations available for different SKUs. The Malaysian SKU does not have a USB 3.0 port while the Singaporean version did.

Those specs are only speculated as nothing has been set in concrete.

So why is it on the website if it is not available/not going to be available?  blink.gif  the page is for asus malaysia not singapore, if it's not going to be available in malaysia then it should not be on malaysia's site plain and simple.
*
That page is taken from the global website for convenience. That's the thing with them, too lazy to specify which country gets what. doh.gif

I think it is. MSI did the same for the X460DX before. It has that 128GB SSD too but I couldn't determine the make of the SSD.

We all knew Asus is coming out with a Windows 8 tablet, who expected it to be Tegra 3 powered in the form similar to the Transformer series?
http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/04/asus-ta..._medium=twitter

And also, convertible dual screen Windows 8 notebooks?

The XPS line has been experience sort of a downfall ever since the Alienware was acquired by Dell... the mainstream XPS models were customized so that they "fit" in between Inspiron and Alienware series. In short, to avoid competition between Dell's own lines of laptops... this has resulted in compromises for XPS models, which is sad  sad.gif
*
Yeah, I think the XPS should have been folded since Dell acquired Alienware since it was their own high-end gaming series. Now it's just branded as the entertainment line.

Asus U32U reviewed by NBC.

Pro

+ good feature set

+ decent speakers
+ 2x USB 3.0
+ fluid HD video playback

Contra

- poor application and games performance
- heats up significantly
- only average input devices
- dark, reflective display
- continually active cooling fan
