Hi, it was not me who got a new netbook, but my mom just did. She got herself an Asus X101H (RM699).
It has an Intel® Atom™ N435/N455 Processor, DDR3 1Gb memory, 2.5" SATA 320GB HDD and an Intel GMA 3150.

I was wowed by the 10.1" size (I don't own a netbook, but a desktop and a laptop) and the simple MeeGo OS was such a breeze to use. The weight is also just 1kg (3-cell battery). I was *tasked* to install Windows 7 on it which I am yet to do.

I am thinking, with this kind of specs, it is possible to :

- Watch HD movies (480p / 720p / 1080p)
- Aero-capable (Pixel/Vertex shader), do not want solid taskbar!
- How efficient is 1024x600 resolution (for me minimum is 1280x720)
- How far can I push it for 3D games ? (e.g Bioshock DX9 etc.)

That's about it. I know I am able to browse the web, check e-mails, play music, and some casual games. Please advice. I am not willing to spend too much since I am just looking for something super light and portable. I can wait and not in any rush to get one.

i don't know about the capability of meego os, but you can get the win 7 version of it for additional rm100.

though for your requirement, i think you better off with c50 variant for 1015b

Helo guys, Can anyone recommend me a good laptop :

1. Preferred Brand - Not sure, any usual ones like Acer, Dell, Alienware, Sager, etc2 but NO APPLE

2. Budget - RM 4500 (maybe can up a little bit)

3. Usage -can perform well for video edits, motion graphics and 3D designing? (As in render speed, smoothness in editing etc2)? Will be using a lot of After Effects and 3D Studio Max.
Also a bit of gaming

4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 15" and above

I know people would recommend me to get a desktop for these kind of uses, but I need a laptop because I'm always mobile.

Please don't recommend me Mac's coz they're underpowered overpriced doh.gif

Thanks! smile.gif smile.gif
