wats the best app for
1- image resizing, put watermark in photo etc ??
2- windows got hjsplit to join and split files but cant find for osx version, got any alt ??

1 - do you have photoshop? can use actions. alternatively, for resizing photos, look for some tutorials on using Automator. then make an action to resize photos using Preview. it's very easy and best of all you dont need to install any other app it wont do watermark though

2 - look for Split and Concat. if im not mistaken it's from the same ppl who makes HJsplit

2. use http://www.hjsplit.org/java/ , hjsplit java version. work on me.

Try Burn. I guess it's quite famous among the mac users, and it's free! Other than that, you may get toast from roxio, but need to pay.

I cant seem to get Unsanity to install to my mac. It just gives me error. I suppose its not supported by 10.6 yet. Is there any other theming app aside Unsanity? Magnifique seems like it has cease to existence. Thanks.

Hello all mac sifu..just wanna ask noobie question.
itry to play this "2011.BluRay.720p.DTS.x264-CHD.mkv" at my macbook black (yes very old model) but failed..i try other .mkv file on VLC player works fine but only this file cannot (5.5gb)...

can tell me why? is it because my mac is old to play this kinda file?

for no 2 - Split and Concat is a good alternative. Might wanna try Ajoiner and/or The Unarchiver though.

They're both free, and compatible with SL; and imho better than Split and Concat, and the Java version of HJSplit.

If you're referring to Unsanity's Shapeshifter app, then it is not compatible with 10.6. I guess it will never be compatible with SL, now that Lion is coming out. Bought the app for my use during my Tiger [10.4] days, but stopped using it as it was incompatible with 10.5 upwards. You might be a new user, but this particular app caused quite a debacle to a lot of users who upgraded their Macs from Leopard to SL. Don't know of any other app with the same functionality Candybar might be of use - but it's not a theming app, rather you can change the appearance of icons and docks.

Paragon NTFS? I've read about them written in one of the threads here. Having had no use of it, I can't remember any free apps atm.

Any good DVD ripper ? Something like DvdRemaster

i'd recommend paragon NTFS but it's paid. ntfs-3g is free and it works, but the speed is pretty slow. should be okay if u only deal with small files
