for no 2 - Split and Concat is a good alternative. Might wanna try Ajoiner and/or The Unarchiver though.

They're both free, and compatible with SL; and imho better than Split and Concat, and the Java version of HJSplit.

If you're referring to Unsanity's Shapeshifter app, then it is not compatible with 10.6. I guess it will never be compatible with SL, now that Lion is coming out. Bought the app for my use during my Tiger [10.4] days, but stopped using it as it was incompatible with 10.5 upwards. You might be a new user, but this particular app caused quite a debacle to a lot of users who upgraded their Macs from Leopard to SL. Don't know of any other app with the same functionality Candybar might be of use - but it's not a theming app, rather you can change the appearance of icons and docks.

Paragon NTFS? I've read about them written in one of the threads here. Having had no use of it, I can't remember any free apps atm.

In short - there's no substitute app exactly like IDM in a Mac, but your best bet is either Speed Download [paid app] or jDownloader [open-source/free app]. read the thread though

Need some help guys. Anyone bought the Tumblr Mac app - Beelog? Link - http://appshopper.com/mac/social-networking/beelog

Any feedback on how good/bad it is? As all exclusive MAS apps are - there are no trial version, so I can't quite gauge how good the app is.

I bought Tumblita at USD 0.99, but it only supports uploading posts at the moment.

I'd love to view my dash and my likes ♥, on a neat window, but I still can't get over the USD 9.99 price of Beelog.

Currently, I upload posts using Tumblita and view my dash/likes using Fluid-created app + compilations of userscripts, but essentially, it would never beat a natively written app like Beelog.

One more thing that I love is the fact that its appearance mimics the original Tweetie for Mac app, and also Sparrow.

I'm a sucker for anything minimalist.
