What is the tar file name; list it here and I can tell you whether is the correct one to use
Go read page 1 post #5 I explain how the firmware files are being developed : 2 types - a breakdown into 4 parts or just a one compilation in 1 tar file

No need to use MIUI if you do not want Samsung's stuffs. As the MIUI solution is still beta, an unfinished project

I'd recommend you to try these 2 roms if you do not want Samsung's bloatware. I highly recommend it: My choice Cognition 1.5.1
Speedmod Vanilla 0.3
Cognition 1.5.1
*
Uncle Benny, I have tried both MIUI and I prefer bmarko with rsome mods.

I think I need to wipe data to go back to Cognition.. What are the strengths of Cognition + Speedmod Vanila?

Cognition : Stable with virtually no bugs; good battery life - a highly dependable rom. I just restore all my apps/data using TB onto Cognition - no problems, no force closures. On Speedmod there were a few FC, so it loses out here.
Both have option to install back Samsung apps if you need it. What I did, instead of flashing the zip - I extract it and transfer those apk file I need over to /system/apps folder

Nice. Will give a try after my phone charged. Tried Batista but somehow I cannot restore/import my contacts. Always give the same error. Can't remember it exactly though.

I always thought that re-calibrating need to drain batt and recharge and .....
If just clear batt stat I can even do from CWM.

Anyway, only way to find out is to try it. Waiting for my phone to fully charge.

Touch x-treme is giving me a good impression so far. Restored everything with no issue so far. Seem pretty fast and smooth.

my sgs2 doesn't autofocus during VIDEO RECORDING if i set the resolution to
720x480
640x480
320x240
176x144

the autofocus only works on
1920x1080
1280x720

does this happens to yours?
please let me know if i have a defected unit.

to test, start recording by aiming something far, then aim something nearer about 10 inch away, see whether the nearer object will become sharp and clear.

Added on September 3, 2011, 10:11 pmopps, by the way, new user, please add me in user list. thanks :-)

So this tar file is a compiled version of the phone/pda/csc - it is a all-in-one. Just select this tar file and put it as PDA in ODIN. Leave the others blank and do not select repartition

after using the phone for a few weeks... I now wonder... do we really need that many cores on the phone? after all, if it's about silky smooth scrolling, iphone 4 could do it with a single core.

from what I can see... most here are into modding phone but not really about posing the phone to its limit - unless you're over clocking. apps wise, I can't think of any that really pushes the phone... then again, if there is such an apps, at most, it'll be hours before we look for a power point.

so just wondering... did I get the right phone or was this an overkill? but I know I love the 1080 recording... maybe this is where the dual core is useful.

I'm using MyBackup Pro.

The error came out when it tried to delete / remove a contact. The error also came out when I tried to delete a contact from well, Contacts biggrin.gif . For now I flashed back to another ROM and the app worked flawlessly.
