You just can't win them all.

Barcelona are humans, not robots. Pep has won something like 15 out of the 19 trophies he has participated in, with Copa Del Rey still up for grabs.

It is not the end of the world!

I know we win and lose as a team but Messi has to take some blame. He lost the ball rather easily to Lampard that led to the winning goal last week and he missed the spot kick that would have put Barca 3-1 up. The games would have changed alot.

I actually think it's good they lost (even though I didn't want that to happen).

They'll be hungry for more success next season.

Rooting for Bayern to win in the final. They may equal Liverpool's five European Cups but I don't want to see Chelsea win it.

Sad to say, it should have been Barca in the final and that would be an amazing game of football.

Bayern didn't do that shit of parking the bus. Great respect and thoroughly deserved to be in the final.

QUOTE(Quick` @ Apr 26 2012, 05:46 PM)
not everybody bro(perhaps only all of Barce fan's), i predicted Chelsea to lose 2-1 and qualify on away goal rule
but Toress being an arse made it 2-2 sleep.gif
There is no denying Barce to score at Nou Camp, but at the rate Barce went from the past 2 games (1st leg lost and El Classico lost)
Chelsea won 1st leg and took a vital point at Emirates Stadium,
With the veteran player Chelsea has, Chelsea entered the game mentally stronger
which they clearly displayed it

With the above, it felt likely that Chelsea will score a goal...through counter attack(true enough),
and if Chelsea do park the bus, which they did, 2 goals would seem like an ideal figure for Chelsea to concede,

Hence the prediction of 2-1 lost for Chelsea.
I know i am crazy right to think of this, but that just how i think
just my 2 cents,

Anyway what's not winning UCL a year for Barce, like they said.....nobody can win everything
dry spell come on and off, i dare not put my money on Barce not reaching the final again next year.
*
It was almost a one-off game. How often do you see Messi not scoring that 1v1 chance against Cech after one-two with Fabregas or missing a penalty. Also Barca hit the woodwork four times and how often do you see opponents scoring from 3 goals from 3 shots on goal in 180 minutes?

No doubt Chelsea defended well but also had luck on their side.

nvm la. not our day, not our season. hopefully the team will bounce back and will be ultra motivated for next season. they tried their best..

im worried about pep now, i hope he renew ASAP.

Several media and journalists claim that Guardiola has decided not to renew his contract, ahead of a meeting with president Rosell today. @barcastuff
*
Pep shouldn't be too disheartened. He has created one of the best football team the world has ever seen since 2008 and Barca are humans .. you just can't win them all sad.gif

He should be proud of what he has achieved .. I think he has won 15 of the 19 competitions available to him since he took over. Out of the four missing, one is the Copa Del Rey this season which he can still win. The three others are Copa Del Rey 2011 which he lost to Madrid despite dominatin, the La Liga and the Champions League this season.

QUOTE(Quick` @ Apr 26 2012, 08:56 PM)
Messi is not god, he is a human after all
1 off game you said, perhaps its true
but in the semi final they have 2 legs, you don't get 1 right, u get your 2nd chance
2nd chance u fail to get it right again, just maybe...it's not about luck anymore

the entire 2nd half Chelsea defended with 10 men,imo Barce don't even seem to threaten as much as they did first half...
explains a lot as well right.

3 shots 3 goal, Chelsea knew, their chance would come limited...thus the need to execute 1 chance 1 goal is top priority
humans when are pushed till the limit, they do extraordinary things, everyone does.

if we look at it the other way, the fact that Chelsea can only attack 3 times*
why on earth barce failed to even stop it, they cant stop a team from attacking 3 times?

there is a lot of ways to look at it bro, like i said if one chose to look at it pro-barce way
that's fine, i respect it..we are all in love with our own club, being bias is always there even the slightest of bit
*
Two games .. perhaps just three. Can still say a little bit of bad luck of run la unlike Liverpool ... almost every game will hit post, hit bar, but dominate game.

Maybe if Sanchez's shot had gone in, it will turn out a different game or maybe if Pedro had made it 1-1, also a different second leg.

True, Chelsea's top priority was definitely to score from any chance they could, especially against a team like Barcelona but how many times does a goal from a chance actually happen!!

That is true (about why Barca fail to stop Chelsea's 3 attacks) but at the end of the day, we all prefer to defend the club we support and no matter what, there will always be a slight hint of biasness.

Maybe, just maybe, neutral non-Barcelona hating fans, would say Barcelona should have won but those who dislike Barcelona will argue Chelsea definitely deserved it.

But I guess we can't say alot because if Liverpool had done the same, I would have liked it as well but I wouldn't disagree to say Barcelona were better.

But anyways, there's no point talking about the games anymore because Chelsea are in the final, not Barcelona.

Yup. I guess that's the beauty of football. Good performances don't warrant wins.

Everyone loves watching good football but the sad truth is, winning is what matters. sad.gif

It is a Spainish affair in the Europa Cup Final. Tw teams with Atletica names - Bilbao vs Madrid.

2 or 3 games the most may be blamed on bad luck. In Liverpool's case every game hit post, never win although dominating the games can be blamed on poor finishing, not sharp strikers, wrong tactical plan etc.

In the semis, Chelsea's top priority was definitely to score from counter attack and they have 3 chances. Barca fail to stop Chelsea's 3 attacks could be the defense went up too far to expel any Chelsea attacks.
*
Yup. That's my point.

Liverpool's run has gone on too long to be considered bad luck. It's a problem.

2-3 games may be bad for Barcelona but even the best of teams have a blip of bad form.

Barcelona kinda failed to defend Chelsea's attacks because they dominated the game so much that even their defenders were in the other half!

I would assume Chelsea started parking the bus when they got the first goal at Stamford Bridge and then again when they got the away goal at Nou Camp.

Their aim was to probably minimise goals scored by Barcelona and they managed with some good blocks and help of the woodwork. Who knows what might have happened if Sanchez or Pedro had scored to make it 1-0 or 1-1 and then Messi 3-1 but they also capitalise on some very poor Barcelona defending.

Barcelona benefited from a manager and a group of players whom majority came from La Masia.

The football they've played in the last 10 years never changed.

Being a successful player himself, Guardiola knows how they feel and he used this to his advantage by overcoming the difficulties he had as a player.

I bought the 'Making of the greatest team in the world' book and it's a very good read.

But I have to say it's a good time for Pep to step down. The last four years have been particularly taxing and he has formed arguably the greatest footballing side the world has ever seen.

He may have lost the Champions League and La Liga in a space of a less than a week but he's won alot more before. Probably Barcelona's own Bob Paisley. Never lost a European Cup final when he made it there.

He departs on a high, something like Nakata.

Imagine if he stays in the job longer and he is expected to maintain the level which they have shown in the last four years, for many more years.

Born in Barca, grew up in La Masia, played for Barca and managed Barca. It's practically every Barcelona kid's dream to do that.

Fcking amazing player Messi is.

2 goals and I think 3 assists?

That puts him on 65 goals for the season, 2 behind Gerd Muller and 3 to break that record, which I really hope he does and he has 4 games less because I doubt he'll be able to reach that amount next season. (though he looks to be getting better and better!)

Also glad to see Ibrahim Afellay back.

I do like VV more than Pinto. Pinto at times is abit clumsy. However, VV is not a good goalkeeper IMO.

Yes. Exactly.

Barcelona needs a world class goalkeeper, a world class centre back to partner Pique and to replace the aging Puyol and maybe a new left back and right back.

Alves isn't exactly a right back and Abidal also getting old. Rumoured we are interested in Alba.

The thing with Messi is that a  ;

- bulk of goals are pure genius
- 1/5 is a goal of the season contender
- his assists are defence splitting through the eye of the needle kind of passes

It is amazing.
Just look at his recent assist to Keita.

Alves can be a traditional RB if the coach instructs him to depending on the tactic eg. Madrid this season in order to keep CR7 in check.
But most of the times he is not needed at RB as he is instructed to join the attack to be an additional outlet on the right wing.
*
Messi is certainly an amazing player. I've never seen anyone play quite like him. He has very good anticipation and decision making. He knows what to do (when to dribble, when to pass, which technique to use to score) at the right moment and 99% of the time, he gets them right. I think that's what make him really, really good. He hardly misses when he gets a chance to score.

That is why I disagree that Ronaldo is a better player. I watched the Bayern-Real Madrid game and other than scoring twice, Ronaldo didn't do anything else much. Messi may rack up alot of goals but he's also played a part in probably 25-30 other goals. Wikipedia says he has 28 assists and that leads to 93 goals he has either scored or contributed directly. There's also ones he was the pre-assister. Furthermore, I think Ronaldo has taken alot more penalty kicks than Messi.

Almost 100 goals contributed by Leo and it's not even Barca's best season.

Yup, I guess it depends how Barcelona wants to play, they are more of an attacking side so Alves has the tendency to attack more. You know, I actually met him tongue.gif Got a photo with him but he wasn't smiling, lol!!

QUOTE(matyrze @ May 1 2012, 03:46 PM)
Of all transfers you suggested there the most unlikely one is a world class goalkeeper. Valdes confirmed here to stay.

*
Yeah, I don't expect Valdes to be sold but I've seen him play, he's good but he's not on the same level as Casillas but I guess not many keepers actually match Casillas' level. I remember how he gives the ball away so easily sometimes. Just my opinion, though.

It was at Manchester Airport around October 2010... the whole Brazillian football squad was there!! No Kaka though. But I only managed to take a picture with Alves and Pato. I wanted to meet Lucas (Liverpool) sad.gif

At first in Dubai and in Manchester .. I thought they were just some Brazillian school kids (they were all wearing tracksuits) ... until I saw one guy's bag .. it had a Robinho tag. Then I look at his face ... o.0 IT WAS ROBINHO!! It was actually hard to recognise them because they look alot smaller in real life.

And the funny thing is ... both Pato and Alves scored in the 2-0 friendly win over Ukraine which they played in England (that's why they were in Manchester airport).

Messi = playmaker + attacker.
I don't know but Valdes has either matched Casillas for the past 3 seasons or has gone better.

The reason why Valdes gives the ball away more is because that's the way we play.
There is a certain degree of risk involved in playing the ball out from the back.
Just like Messi's unsuccessful dribbles.
I don't blame him when he loses the ball because if the dribble is successful, we have a good chance of scoring.
Same goes with Valdes, if he passes the ball out perfectly, 1 opponent down but sometimes it can go wrong.
Even Xavi doesn't have a 100% passing completion rate.

Yup. I think Messi is a better player overall. He's not just a goalscorer, he's an all rounder. Back when he was younger, he was said to be an individual but to be honest, I have no problems with him. Good team player as well for me.

True about Valdes. He's certainly not a terrible player but I feel he's behind Pepe Reina and Iker Casillas for the number one spot in Spain. (Well, I'm a Liverpool fan an I know Pepe has been poor but still love the man!)

It's unlikely a player has a 100% completion rate and i appreciate players like Xavi or Messi trying something amazing. If it doesn't come off, i appreciate it and when it does, it's amazing (like his assist for Keita) but remember the goal Real Madrid scored against us in the first el classico. It was like so early in the game and I think Valdes gave the ball away too cheaply.
