is it just me or does messi looks disinterested lately... it seems like he has no responsibilities defensively..not chasing balls down.. closing down opposing plays.. he just stands around and wait for plays to come to him.. like sometimes when he loses possesion, or when team mates around him loses the ball, he does not react to get into positions to steal the ball/stop opponent's play.. this kinda pisses me off tbh.. am i the only one who sees it this way?

Hahahahha .. i agree.

I have to say .. he's easily one of the laziest player ever.

He just stands there until he gets the ball but I think for him, it's forgivable since he contributes so much attacking-wise, almost 100 goals (assists and goals) to the team.

Lionel Messi has 253 goals and 101 assists in 329 games for Barcelona.

Amazing stat!!

Time for a break before the new season for him smile.gif

Visca el Barca. Visca Catalunya.

The team will be almost unstoppable when Villa and Puyol returns and since Alba is surely to be our long serving left back in the near future.

I don't think Iniesta has got the mention he thoroughly deserves. The man is unplayable.

He's a bit like Messi but minus the goals and assists lol.

Our first sign is set to miss the whole of our preseason as he is selected for the olympics doh.gif  doh.gif

I'm surprised he's even selected. He played every minute of the Spain games in the Euros! I thought it was normal that players who played in the first team in the Euros are omitted from Olympic games....

Anyways, interesting article ..

Xavi's father reveals Spain tensions

Xavi Hernandez's father has claimed Iker Casillas had problems with Jose Mourinho because of his friendship with the Barcelona midfielder.

Ahead of Euro 2012, rumours had been rife over strained relationships in the Spain camp due to the rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona, and at one stage Vicente del Bosque openly acknowledged that there were issues between Gerard Pique and Sergio Ramos.

Xavi's father has now revealed that the problems in the national camp were serious, and that Spain were able to successfully defend their European Championship crown was down to the diplomatic efforts of Casillas and Xavi.

Mourinho had said in March that he had "no problems" with Casillas as speculation of a fall-out raged, but Joaquin Hernandez told COM Radio: "Iker had many problems with Mourinho because Xavi and Iker didn't want to end their friendship. The problems came to light and everyone knows about it.

"Had it not been for Iker Casillas, Xavi and Del Bosque, the national team would never have achieved what they have. It has been very complicated at times because of the Clasicos.

"Friendships between players were about to end. There were rows. There were issues with Arbeloa, Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos and how they behaved towards their team-mates. The behaviour of some players was inappropriate. Luckily, Iker and Xavi intervened."

Hernandez also responded to the suggestions his son had looked tired during Euro 2012.

"Xavi has played 81 games this season," he said. "It's a brutal schedule, and involves travelling all around the world, but he was fine. It's said that he wasn't in a good state physically, but that's not true."

------------

I actually believed the relationship between Barcelona and Real Madrid players deteriorated when Mourinho took over. He caused so much tension between them.

I don't think Barcelona need Javi Martinez.

There's Busquets playing in his position. And the only reason he plays CB is to partner Pique as he's tall and Puyol is at the wrong end of a football career. Still, CB isn't his primary position!
