i've got two PS2 consoles that are having problems.

the 1st one's mine, scph 55006, it's the fat version, just that it's white in color.

much like deadwiller, my ps2 cant play DVD games.
it plays Audio CD.
but unlike deadwiller, while he can play the original demo disc.
mine cant play original games as well.

i've brought it to a nearby shop. they said it's problem with the lense.
they say it'll cost more than 300 bucks to replace it.

1) Is it really the lense? or is it the chip? Am i gettin rip here?
2) If it is the lense, how much does it cost to replace it?

The second console belongs to my friend, his PS2, scph 30001, is having a problem with the IC.
Boot up, his ps2 loads the game halfway thru the intro Playstation2 screen and stucks.
Sometimes he boots, and it doesnt load at all.
wat's the problem here?

thanks in advance, guys..

There are 2 laser diodes in the PS2 lens. 1 for emitting laser for CD and the other for DVD. Since yours can only play audio cd, the diode that emits the laser for DVD is already dead. You must change the whole lense. There are no new lens replacement for fat PS2, only new refurbished lenses. The price is around RM250 - RM300 depend on the model of the lenses. This price doesn't include labor charge. There are 3 models, i.e 400B, 400C and HD7/400R.

The second console also need to replace the lens. Bear in mind that dead lenses are common case for PS2 even for any dvdrom drives.

guys,

i got a problem which is pretty much similar to alien@lyn above. only that my ps2 could play DVD movies with no problem at all. but when it comes to DVD games, it just failed to load. can't remember the serial number but it's the fat satin silver model which is made in china.

any idea what is the problem with my ps2?
anybody know a good place in KL to send my ps2 for repair that won't charge you an arm and a leg?

thx.

try to play original game (your demo game if you have)
it sound like you modchip fails or a problem with solder points.

Hi guys

I'm just about to buy a PS3 and was wondering about what any possible issues with streamyx speed. I subscribe to the 1.0mbps package though I'm sure I'm getting slower speeds than that. Will that be an issue for online games like Resistance or Motorstorm?

Or do I need to upgrade my streamyx to higher speeds? hmm.gif

i've got a problem playing ffxii

i bought 2 types of disc, 1st one can play until phon coast(the beach), then the game hangs, screen becomes black and music on. i tried testing at 2 ps2 shops (they use the small ps2) they also have the same problem.

2nd type i tried at the shop can get past that beach place but i try playing at home it wouldnt load the title screen.

my ps2 is the large one, hope anyone can help me out with this problem.

Quick question:

Last night while I was playing a game (say Rouge Galaxy), the game started to lag and the DVD tray inside the PS2 starts to sound like a scratched vinyil player. I thought it was a scratch problem and checked the DVD, but the DVD was clean of scratches. Seeming it was odd, I tried to restart the PS2.

But then, the same noise starts again and it starts to read 'Please put a PS2 DVD' at the startup. I resetted a few times without the DVD this time and the scratching sound comes out again.

Kindly advise.

@snipersnake: Fat PS2, laid flat. Does it matter? Cause I've been placing it like that for 5 years...and it never made a sound like that

Question;

Accidentally drop my psp once. Now the umd tray/slot/whatever wont fully close, but still can use the psp normally, except 1 problem; I tried charging my psp in sleepmode and offmode, and when I turned my psp on, the psp will display the screen for a bit, before suddenly turning off on its own. I have to stop charging the psp then it can turn on normally and the menu will be shown. Also, the psp will also shutdown itself when I start a game while recharging the battery. No problems using the psp when not charging.

Edit: forgot to mention, thinks the charging problem is getting worse. The psp wont be recharge if it is turned on; have to turn it off then the led will turn to red/orange color.

I did not have these problem before. Did the fall break my psp, or the psp battery? Kindly advice.

Cheers~ icon_rolleyes.gif
