YES , faster at center. I did mine on Friday, morning 11 am , by nightime about 9 pm it was ported over. I was told if during weekdays, within few hours usually. I transfer over my Celcom postpaid - how fast also dependent on your present postpaid telco

1 quick question here...

for those "no wipe" roms, will any problems appear if i wipe my phone before installing them?
*
No. Infact is good practice to wipe even if is not needed. You start new with a clean Rom free from possible interferance from new rom

The trouble many users think there are smarter than Google engineers. These users bring their ancient outdated theories of Windows OS into Android

Just get extra battery - buying a phone based on a 2 days battery life is most unusual. The SGS II will outperform the Xperia Arc by 10 X - so dont expect battery life as good as Arc ; it is dual core and is very fast. The Arc is a tortoise compare to it
If you dont use internet 3 days also can !

What rom are you actually on ? Mine is based on AOSP rom
Or you can try just flash the Photo+Contact zip - get it from Bastista thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1162715
The download link somewhere near bottom of post #1

For those who wants a very LEAN clean rom and just do not want the Samsung builtin - this ia a very good rom to try. It is pure Google AOSP
The developer has a link to install the Samsung apps if you need it
It is based on XXKG6 with baseband KH3. However I chnage the baseband to my preferred XXKG3

GingerMod Vanilla 0.21
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1220283

It is very stable . I have changed its default kernel ninphetamine 2.11 to RageMOd T27 :

Nearly 2 weeks now since I bought my SGS2, I have not received any sms from Samsung yet. Bought it from Digi too..

Only last week i was with my friend. He bought a SME set and after he paid, the seller did the sms e warranty. Within a few seconds he recieve a sms confirmation in his handphone confirming the warranty and expiry date. I was most impressed at the efficiency an spped he got his confirmation
So you had better go, scream, threaten and bang tables at the seller

I have a problem to make call with GS2, when press the 'phone' button at home menu, I didn't see any numeric keypad on the screen, I only see all the log history, and the other 3 categories (contact, group, favourite)

Is it suppose to have a numeric keypad to let me make call? Any idea?  sad.gif

Select keypad at the leftmost of the top menu bar. What a unbelievable question

Some users has lamented some cook roms do not have call recording feature. Well this is a quick and easy fix solution here:
Just use CWM to flash the file

silentsurfer you said ' Note: ALL SYSTEM APPS AND DATA restored using titanium backup on both KH1 and KH3.
You DON't restore system apps/data across different firmwares. You can safely select restore all missing apps/data
So you cannot just select restore system app/data from KH1 to KH3
If you are lucky, both firmware system files are same , but be safe don't do it
When come to system apps/data - the older firmware will overwrite your newer firmware and these will cause problems. You can only do selective restoring - under batch - you will see all your previous system apps/data in RED. Just choose selectively those that you want to restore, example your mail, sms. For contacts, calendar ( if you are not using Gmail to sync back) - these select the data if avilable and not the app/data unless you know the newer firmware did not change this
Generally it is safer if you are upgrading firmware from same developer but definitely unsafe if different developer
The restore system app/data is only useful if you are restoring back to original firmware

And using ahem apps from the app you have listed is the WORST and most dangerous source and will cause a lot of instability. If you want free paid apps, this is the last place to get it. There are more reliable web based sites definitely not thro such an app. Use it if you do not mind facing issues such as random reboots, sudden switch off, sudden swing back to homescreen - blame yourself not the phone when these happens. I know is easy and convenient but pay a price for it.

Noboby can answer your question unless you list the apps you have. Some apps auto refresh/update data by default unless you disable it. Common ones are newsfeed, tweeters, RSS, weather, currency, games etc. You need to check each of your app and disable such auto updates

I have often received PM asking me which are the best custom roms. There is actually NO best rom as everyone needs on the phone is different. As I can see in this forum, the emphasis seems more on battery life. Some will want performance and battery life is not so critical. Some wants better gaming ; some wants better speedier browsing, some wants the best of everything ( to such users - just dream on )

However I can say the following are reasonably good : You will feel comfortable and safe using these. This recommendation is more for new users who do not know where to start
First time flashing, I always recommend Litening 4.0 and BELOW as it is EASY to flash with minimal problems - with rooting, CWM, non-wipe :

Modaco GR5 ( LEAN , don't change its kernel)
Speedmod Vanilla 0.21 ( LEAN, LEAN, LEAN )
Cognition 1.5
Bastita 3.73

You can flash safely alternative kernels to assess with these roms : ninphetamine 2.13, ragemod, speedfrey
