If it doesn't show up, I guess the sgs2 can't read PNG files. Because the gallery will detect images from practically any folder in the phone and place it there for your viewing.
*
Our SGSII can read PNG. Mine shows in gallery based on what folder that i've name it.

YES ; png are basic graphic files. I have many png files in my phone . Many apps uses png files as their logos too. It will shows up in any picture/graphic viewer including gallery
Just drop the files in any folder - there is no rule/restriction
Most probably your file transfers are unsuccessful if you don't see it . Anyway I never used KIES as I have written it off as the worst file transfer/sync software I have ever use. I install KIES just for its phone drivers

Ya..ya. Kies is totally crap
K - Kies
I - Is
E - Extreme
S - Shit

Apologies all around for the mistake. My bad  blush.gif

On a side note, I have a question about charging as well. My Battery Monitor Widget and Android System Info tells me that my battery has been charged to 100%. But Android doesn't tell me that the charging is done, and when I go to settings -> about -> status, the Battery Level says 100% but the Battery Status still says "charging". Should I continue charging or stop?
*
AFAIK as long as your charger still chuck inside your phone then at Battery Status will continue says 'charging'. It only sometimes when you take out your charger, your battery status went down a bit like 98%.

Right and many users will still be asking why I see 100% , after I disconnect charge immediately drop down to 98-99 % ???
*
Yes. But i found 100% can be achieved if we take out the charger then we chuck in again and leave it for around 15-30 minutes. Though for me as long as it above 95% then it's good to go :-)

Hmm, mine always reach 100%, even when I'm watching movie with it and charging at the same time. when it reach 100% it will have a soft notification tone and then after i unplug it still show 100% for quite some time.. (100% drop till 99% is much longer compare to 99% drop to 98% which is like instant)
*
ehehe., i think the situation is like this. If we leave our phone charge overnight (more than 4 - 6 hours), we can achieve 100% batt. But if we wait our phone to touch 100% battery status then we immediately take out the charger, our battery will drop to 98%.
I think our phone was built in such way as to discourage full 100%. So from 98 - 100% will take quite a long time as our phone only let in a trickle current inside. It's either you take out the charger, let the meter drop then charge it again OR leave your phone overnight.
Same like ppl. Not good eating until our stomach really full one. Can sesak nafas you know. Battery also like that

just wanna reconfirm soemthing before i change to 2.3.4. Currently im at 2.3.3 and rooted. laugh.gif
for simplest way, should i upgrade the firmware using KIES? If i do so, will it wipe my apps and my earlier root?
*
You use Odin not Kies. You can get the official firmware from samfirmware or xda. Better you get from xda intratech thread as it is much easier. Flashing full stock firmware will wipe your data. But since you rooted already then you can always use TB to restore your apps

So, First i need to backup using TB. then Flash the firmware using ODIN. After flash it, i re-root again but flashing using rooted kernel.

Correct bo?

later this weekend do it cos now im recalibrating my battery. hehe
*
That one is for KG1. Better go to intratech main thread. There got XXKH firmware already. Better use the latest firmware :-P

Supercurio released a dev snapshot of his Voodoo Screen tuning App! it's still in dev stage, worst than Alpha & Beta Stage but it's working!
Some has mentioned that it has gotten rid of the ugly sharpening, colour banding and yellow tint/discolouration on left side!

can i use KIES to update my stock unrooted s2 from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4?
thanks

Yes , you can use Kies to update your firmware BUT you
will have to wait until Samsung release the firmware to the
intended country/ region. So far there's no official firmware release until up to this minute :- P
If you insist for an firmware upgrade then the other way is
using Odin. By using Odin you can snatch the upgrade
firmware meant for other country /region hence you get a
much faster upgrading.
You don 't need any rooting to use Odin :- )
Hope this help

i read the first page but still don undersatnd wats a wakelock LOL
my assumption is that wakelock problem is when the phone in idle mode but still draining battery is it?

this morning 2am when i charge upto 100% , i deactivated FAST DORMANCY too lastnight since i dont use data plan/3G/HSDPA AND force stop most unneeded application in SETTING>APPS> RUNNING APPS so i expect BETTER battery performance after TWO ACTIONS MADE...

then i woke up 12pm today, i almost shocked it shows 80% , 20% drop edi walaoeh, usually is 1-3% drop , got one night i forgot off wifi and still only 1-3% drop only. if drop alot overnight, usage ter definitely show highest was android systems...as suspected , it goes back to the annoying ANDROID SYSTEM...

TBH, in android system usage detail, i really dono how to make of the details in it. fr past experience, my only one idea is NOT to clear the memory in task manager
*
Your phone still use quite high battery juice if you lost 20%eventhough you had disable your data network. My phone lost less than 10% of battery juice for 24hours with mydata network disable :- P
I suggest you stop killing/force close any running apps
UNLESS it' s a roque app and running havoc. Sometimes
the apps that you force closed keep popping back on,
especially the running system apps. So it 's much better
you leave them alone .
If you really want to save a little bit more of your battery
juice then you better start disable your auto update/auto
scroll widgets that sit on your home screen. You can
always update/scroll the widgets manually.
Close/exit properly any apps that you open especially the one that need sign- in to open it (like latitude). If you need to sign-in then you'll need to sign-out in order to really close such app.
