just go to a shop and test it out la... i'm quite sure there are shops out there with a sample unit you can play with. i was at digi shop in ss2 and i recall seeing sgs2 and iphone4. play all you want... and decide... heck, i think they also got windows phone. who knows... maybe bill gates is still the best leh?!?

kies is so buggy. unlocked my phone and it's still telling me my phone is still locked. i'll be d4rn impressed if it can actually update the phone firmware without bricking the phone.

anyway, mine is virgin set (as some owners here will call it). checked from phone's settings (about phone) and click check for updates. nothing there as well.

holy... after restarting my notebook and my phone... connected again... wah, got firmware update... updating now!

i pray kies dun brick my phone...

3 days... i think can. some users reported that about 20-40 pages back. basically, no data. only phone and sms. maybe data is like once a day sync with 1 account or sth...

to be honest, i m not kidding about kies bricking my phone. 4th time asking me to update firmware...

and it does not help when the screen gets locked, i think process gets screwed up... *sigh*

ok, kies is really stupid... either that, or i'm just not smart enuff to know how to use it.

#1. after restarting notebook and phone, i finally got kies to detect my virgin phone (dang kies thats like 10-15secs to load).

#2. finally detects my phone and prompts for firmware...

#3. when i click update, the stupid kies downloads the firmware but in the process, disconnects my phone. so end up, after downloading firmware, no phone to update.

#4. kies now detects and connects my phone... and repeats #2 - #4.

i have a feeling flashing rom is easier than this....

i guess i can't ask you all since i think 90% here not using virgin sgs2 and not bothered with the official sme firmware, etc...

still... how to update the firmware? its now here... but kies seems to be going on an infinite loop...

* kies detect phone
* kies prompt and download firmware but disconnect my phone (even while cable is still plugged and phone din go into sleep mode)
* kies detects no phone and firmware update cancelled
* kies exits firmware update screen and detects phone (process repeats itself)

can la... my sgs2 still virgin... no mods, no root...

heck, to the point even the official firmware can't be updated... stupid kies!

but i got into another problem after that... kies will discon itself while downloading firmware. so, when firmware download complete, it sees no phone to update... after firmware update window is closed, it detects the phone again... really stupid.

i'm gonna try uninstalling kies. and reinstalling it.

i'd think digi gives a better deal for the phone... no? the only thing is... whether you are happy with digi coverage.

i would love to tell you... but i can't even get the dang kies to update my firmware... waiting for feedback from others... maybe its my kies. i dunno...

with your plan... total for phone + 12months = rm2366

if let's say he's to go with digi's 48 plan (rm43 if you go paperless)...
rm1699 for phone
rm43 x 12 = rm516
total = rm2215. cheaper by rm151. but of course that's without the voice calls yet. so, for 12mths, that means rm12 per month based on the rm151 savings.

digi 48 plan gives 1GB limit. but my usage is less than that. so ya... 500mb quota should be good... though i wonder... ppl say i'm considered heavy user... heh heh...

the thing is... whether digi network is good at the regular places -- office, home, on the road...

the kies update was sometime last week... anyway, posting again what i saw today...

it's not time out... if i'm not mistaken, you get the same problem like i am...

if you look at kies connection (the part where it shows the phone is connected -- top left), when kies is downloading the software, it will turn from GT-9100 to something like 'no device detected'. means the connection to phone is disconnected.

so, firmware cannot be updated...

i tot kies air is to connect pc to phone directly? last time i tried... it took me like 5mins to transfer one small file... hmm... not sure if got firmware update or not...

actually... does this mean SGS2 cannot do FOTA? i tot there's a check updates option under settings -- about phone?

i honestly got no idea... i wanted to try out reinstalling kies... but too lazy... maybe this weekend.
