yes i do means it that way, or if your cloth is precious to you try using handkerchief, sleep with the hanky one night and then throw it in there

if they dont eat then i think u have to contact the seller and inquire about what its used to eat, cus they are still too young to know what to eat. it is probably their mom who taught the lil hog that a food is edible, so u have to stick with the food it is used to, then slowly change to the food u bought. it is usually royal canin 32 or 38 (and no i dont think there is a diff but probably in terms of diet, yes a little)
*
Hmm, i think i may have to cut up my cloths then tongue.gif my box aint small, but aint big enough also. Im feeding her RC36 , previous owner was on iams ... shoulnt be 2 much of a difference i guess ? since both are chicken hmm.gif

when is the right time to change their kibble from kitten to adult?
kitten kibbles contains more fat, so is it advisable to continue feeding the kitten ones?

Hi just received my hedgehog yesterday.

anybody here tried ProDiet kitten pellet brand ? mine wont take it for some reason. when i asked the previous owner, they have been feeding hedgehog pellets. so will their taste change in the future or i have to keep feeding them hedgehog pellets?

im getting a bit worried now because she have not eaten for a whole day
*
my hedgehog still refuses to eat ProDiet doh.gif

so in the mean time, ive been feeding her worms. i just bought royal canin fit 32 today and hopefully she will start eating!

then i'd say give a mx of iams and rc36 say, 1/4 rc 3/4 iams. slowly make it to 50/50 iams and rc. then when u feel its done then u can go ahead with all rc. as for mine it still doesnt know how to eat mealworms and i'm slowly teaching it.

u can just get a mini packet of iams to save $$

well i cant really give an exact answer for that but i could say why not give it a try, as hedgehogs grow up they would prefer some things to spice up their life so a change of food would be an option. u could always get a small packet if u're afraid that it doesnt accept it. but somehow some hogs would just prefer to stick to their baby food

as said, it will be easier to feed the same food then slowly change it to the one u want it to eat.

it is same for us if i say "what if i told u, grass is edible?". u never knew it is edible because u never bother trying to. same goes for them, they dont know that it is edible, it will be a rather long time to teach it. it would be better to enquire from the previous owner what it is used to eat.

it is easier to feed the hedgie its old food, i say easier cus it knows that it is food. but it would be easier to change its diet when it gets older so no worries rclxms.gif

i tried crushing the worms and also the cat pellet and mix them together. she did eat them but without the worms she refused to eat.

i know worms are like treats to hedgehog, is it bad to keep feeding worms to hedgehog ?

well u could just treat the worms like potato chips to human, it is NOT bad just risk of getting obese and the after-effects like liver disease and such but no worries only 1/10 hogs continuously being fed mealworms/treats get fatal diseases. so yeah dont worry too much but do try to make it like only 1/4 of the bowl is mealworm (ie. only mix in a mealworm)

idk its really up to you, u couxld bring it home now and spend time bonding with it (by time i mean possibly 3-5hours a day) teaching it how to eat and such plus they're really adorable but can be a nuisance if u have lil patience.

another way is justleave it for another month and let its mom to teach it how to eat then it'll be all fine when u take it back

Hi guys, would like to ask. Would there be any particular reason why a hedgehog bites ? And seriously it is very painful and quite a scar has been left (I can see blood). Im quite confident that i have already washed my hands and is just handling her the normal way normal environment I usually do in the past. I read alot on the internet which hedgehog very seldom bites, and if they do it should not break the skin, mind you this 1 didnt wanna let go .... Ive just didnt see her for 4 days and was greated with a big bite >.<

Also, this concerns me when i search up on biting hedgehog

heh seems like u have a biter there too. assuming it is less than a year old it still doesnt know how to differentiate food (mommy's not there to teach or no sense yet) i have a biter too and i dont see a problem 2 months old. it is also probably u FINGER fed it (using your finger to handle food to it insead of your palm).

next, one the other hand medical advice, i'm no doctor, i mean even if i am i would say go for the sake of your money, oh i mean your health mind me. but if i were u i wouldnt really panic:
-c'mon u're feeding high quality cat food man. not like its eating shit right.
-its harboured at home (unless u using dirty bedding, i change everyday)
however, if u're really paranoid then go ahead and take a shot. but i believe that if u think your hog is clean then i think its okay, just keep your hand sanitized. i have a bottle of hand sanitizer beside the cage to be used once i've done handling.

solution? i think it would best try not to let it bite, i usualy let it smell my finger (move away quickly if it tries to bite, i'm too adept at this shit already haha) and give it a soft threat (blow it or knock its head, dont let that be a cause of retardness or death really) if it bites. it is best not to finger feed it in my opinion, cus mine bites because of that, lesson learned.
