HI all hedgehog lovers here,

I just got a pair of male and female snp few days ago. i placed them together in glass aquarium with DIY house for them, bedding. Just read this thread said that. Not suitable for them to live together..  doh.gif . Their age about 3-4 months.. What should I do now?

And another things is i found out.. the male one. one his back leg got a bit tempang and couldn't walk properly.. damn, is my mistake didn't check properly when purchased them.. cry.gif

and here is their picture of them both. top left is male, and top right is female. tongue.gif

You should separate them. Then, just keep a close eye on the female for pregnancy signs (not eating for a few days, then gaining weight continuously) and the male for the leg injury (which should heal, if not, bring him to the vet).

I hope you did research on hedgehog care before buying them. It is very irresponsible if an owner does not know the basics.

Hi there, new hedgehog owner here! want a pet hedgehog since few months ago, decided and finally getting myself one rclxms.gif
got it from one of the breeder @ Mxdah.my, not really a responsible breeder i can say, 100% profit-based breeder
2 months old naughty girl, sleeps a lot during daytime, VERY active during night time. had her for 3 days, every morning when i woke up, poops everywhere in her cage blink.gif need litter train her but takes time right.

my girl biggrin.gif
Attached Image

close-up picture when she just woke up and uncurl, will do nail trimming but will wait for few more days when she's more familiar with me
is the skin near her ear there dry skin? will buy vaseline afterwards..

Attached Image

bought this wood pellets from Pets Wonderland @ Midvalley, rm13 for 2kg. izzit ok to use for hedgie?
Attached Image

Attached Image

bought everything including this cage(except the ceramic food bowl) from Pets Lovers Centre, this is all i can get for her, a rabbit cage sweat.gif
big and with solid plate at the bottom. bought the wrong material for her bedding, thought this is Fleece but seems like its not hmm.gif
got her a wheel also, not shown in picture. she's currently on the hedgehog food 'Hedgehog Premium Food' from the breeder
will slowly change her diet from hedgehog food to RC36. bought one 400g pack from Pets Lovers Centre too, costing me rm19,
the branch i bought from doesnt sell any repack..
She hissed when i first got her but now no more, its just that she wont stay still when i hold her with my hands, naughty gal, even saw her clinged on the cage trying to escape sweat.gif
when i let her wander outside the cage on the floor, she sniffs and keeps finding 'hole' to dig in laugh.gif
eats and drinks a lot, before i sleep i'll put 20-25 kibbles in her bowl and in the morning all finished. big eater biggrin.gif
but just now there is watery poop in her cage, when i let her out of the cage, she poops again, all watery. any idea why isit happening? is it because she got anxious when i pick her or something? unsure.gif

*currently a student living in condo, this pet definitely suits me since normally i study in the night, there she is my companion now laugh.gif

pretty! what u call naughty, i'd redefine as "their nature". hedgehogs are noctural creatures, true they can be active at morning this makes them a fun pet to have as they are ready to play anytime!

mine was actually smart enough to "get" that litter pan use 80% of the time it does poo and pee on the litter pan, still dont forget they are animals, they dont really know stuff they just do stuff when they feel like it (biting, pooping, scratching, digging). get ready for heads up they probably would just poop and pee on u when they feel like it too. idk if mine's a male or what he can actually "keep" its pee, never got once pee on me while some people ones do complain that whenever they pick em out they just greet them with poop.

wood pellets, yes it is good to have them but i dont really use those as i use newspapers as bedding easy for daily change. all in all, everything u did is perfect for the hog nothing i could actually say.

green poop, i'd say it is totally normal for the first couple of weeks, probably a month is still normal, but if all the time then maybe get some heads up. still mine never poop or pee whenever out of the cage tongue.gif clever boy. additionally, u could crumple up (loosely) a newspaper and throw it in, watch it dig in and sleep or push it around. newspaper because easy to get, easy to change.

depends on you really, want it to become fat or not? fat then each mealworm per day, about idk, 1 or 2 TEASPOON of food (say royal canin's size) specific then 30 biji.

as for mine i do few meals a day (saje2 kacau him to wake up for breakfast lunch dinner supper, feed bit by bit) if i busy then str8 morning 1 go. mealworms when i feel like it, about 2-3 ekor every 2-3 days (can say each a day la)

Hye all,

Im a new owner! My hedgehog has been with me for 5 days now but it stopped eating or drinking for the past 3 days. Im getting scared that it might be sick cause when i got it, it was friendly. Now, it just curls up into a ball and vibrates and wont leave her hole ever. Im not sure what is happening.

Also, can anyone please tell me where can I get Aspen bedding? I've been to a few big pet stores and none of them seems to know what the hell is Aspen bedding. I have no choice but to buy the cedar and pine bedding for now. sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

Please help!!

u're worrying too much haha. its just being 2 days give it some time. even if its used to u, give it a lil shake or scare then u'll see green poop (if incase u miss her greenish poop) i think its perfectly normal, but it should not last, like if 10 out of 10 times its green poop then it is a problem.

u seems to be confused about what to do with your hog, dint do your homework eh, i'll help u out this time
1. remove bedding, in my opinion cedar is pretty dangerous for a hog, read this thread's first page.
2.just use newspaper
3.if u just got it, it is just being nervous, try to leave it alone
4.hog shaking is normal, it may look like it is vibrating, somehow they're just breathing fast (sniffing surrounding)
5.or your vibrate could also means it is huffing and pufing, it is a sign of "LEAVE ME ALONE" from your hog. it is not sick it is indeed very very stressed.

i change my bedding (newspaper) everyday and he scrathes himself everyday haha. hog scratching itself is just like us scratching our hair. their skin is dry thats why it gets itchy sometimes. it is only a bad news if there is over scratching like signs of redness or bleeding. so dont worry
