How many people can do that and what about other industries other than the dangerous OnG?

I am talking about normal office 9-5 jobs
*
Don't know what rubbish you are talking about being dangerous in OnG. Obviously you have no clue whatsoever on how the OnG companies work.

hi,

would like to know from those who travel from KL to Singapore frequently.

Am going down to Singapore for interview soon, but I'm travelling via bus that arrives at Singapore around 5am in the morning while my interview is at 10am.

Is there any place I can rest once I reach Singapore?

thanks in advance.
*
Just hangout at McD, a lot of overnite 'campers' hangout there.

Is free public WiFi available in most area of Singapore? I think I would really need to find my way via Internet.
*
same again, McD & Starbucks. Coffee Bean are not free though. There are public free wifi available in major shopping complex (WIRELESS@SG) but you will not be able to use it until you register.

Very arrogant indeed

Working on offshore oilrigs not dangerous?

Working at Pulau Bukum refinary not dangerous?

Working at LNG plant not dangerous?

I've spent many years in one of the top 3 OnG corporation in the world and i fully understand the system that have in place to safeguard the people, the equipment and the environment. do you ? probably you could tell us your work experience to come to such an understanding of your statements ? If not, don't talk to me about being arrogant.

Every work place has its risk. Even in an office setting. And its not arrogance that he's speaking but hopefully from experience.

There are different levels of risk when your on an oil rig, a rig which is currently "drilling" is more at risk compared to a rig which is "warm stacked" or "cold stacked".

Its premature to say all oil and gas operations are high risk.

Pulau bukum is the exception though, it would be interesting to see what the investigation team found out about the cause of the fire, plus no employees on the island was hurt except for a few firefighters.
*
I truly believe that all accident are preventable and humans are to be blame. Ppl failed to follow procedures is the major one. A place is only dangerous if the risk is not managed well. I do have some info on Pulau Bukum incidents but unable to share it due to the ongoing investigations.

knowing the the risk and taking the precaution step help to minimize/reduce the incident, but it doesn't deny the fact that the nature of the job is still dangerous. Be open and respect other's opinion, that's the point. biggrin.gif
*
one shouldn't give opinion without the credentials, etc experience in that field at least ? This is not some kopitiam talk, especially with a sweeping statement like 'dangerous OnG industries'

I will be getting a manpower supply offer of one of the biggest o&g operators in Singapore. In terms of money and benefits, nothing much to rave about. Is it wise idea to get the offer, for the sake of hopping to be absorbed as permanent staffs? Besides, my resume value will increase as well if I am working as a Client.

Btw, is an engineering position and I have 2 years exp in oil and gas.

Any comments?
*
The biggest OnG companies in Singapore is either Shell, EM, BP or SRC ? rclxms.gif . Not too hard to guess tongue.gif

there is no one in this world "fully" understand, there is no ideal case in this world.

there is also no "managed [well]" but there is "minimize the risk" or "to the acceptable level".
*
the term 'managed' the risk did exist in Risk Assessment and Risk Management . One who have done a risk assestment would understand that managed a risk meaning adding barrier to either minimize the risk impact or bringing down the probability. So the term 'managed well' do exist. well, we are drifting from the topic here, which i fully believed accidents are all due to human errors/negligences.

Anyone come across this case?

why would a major companies need the manpower supply from your companies instead of directly hiring from the market ?

which EM plant is that ? Mainland, Jurong Island or Pulau Ayer Chawan ?

Just one last question, Is there any cases that EM discriminates contract or manpower supplied staffs? Will they draw border line eg. probably some activities or courses you cant join or maybe laptops will be given to perm. staff only...

Anyone come across this situation?
*
I dun think there will be any discrimination. it's pretty much in black and white. You are employee of Setsco, so your benefits will be that given by Setsco. If you are EM employee then of coz the benefits will be of EM. You can't be the employee of one company and expect the benefit of another right?

Hi friends,

I am going to visit SG end of November. I am planning to go for the Universal Studio in SG, just want to find out information as listed below:

-how much entrance fees I need to pay for the theme park
-Is this Universal Studio located nearby to any one of the casinos in SG?
-What kind of transportation I could take to reach the Universal Studio? By MRT and which station?

Thanks for anyone who have been there to leave your guidance.smile.gif

Buy online with the master card promo. 20% discount. They will give out a certain amount (1st 100 ppl?) of $10 merchandise shop voucher per card holder. So try using different master card to book to maximize this. Card holder must be present to redeem the voucher.

Universal Studio is just above the casino rclxms.gif

Take mrt to Harbour Front. There's a shuttle bus to casino from the bus stop outside Vivo city.

You mean driving a Malaysian registered car into Singapore?

Anyways, everything you ever need to know if GIYBF.
http://www.lta.gov.sg/motoring_matters/mot...de_overview.htm
http://driving-in-singapore.spf.gov.sg/ser..._conversion.htm

In short, yes and only if you reside outside of Singapore. You will still need a Singapore driving license after 12 months.
*
No. try get your facts right 1st before posting to avoid confusion. You don't need a Sg license to drive a Msia car. This issue have been discussed quite a number of times before .

And where did you get this "fact" from since it's not stated anywhere in the official websites?
The only statement I see is this.

"A foreigner above 18 years of age and holding a Work Pass/Dependent Pass/Student Pass may drive in Singapore with a valid class 3, 3A or 2B foreign licence, for a period of not more than 12 months. A Singapore driving licence is required after 12 months. Those on short term social visit may drive with their foreign licence for up to 12 months each time they enter into Singapore. For licence not written in English language, an International Driving Permit or translation is required as explained below."
They are mentioning about driving Sg registered car here, not Msia registered car.

I won't want to be caught in an accident in Singapore driving a Malaysian registered car with a Malaysian license after 12 months on work pass from the statement above but that's just me.
Yes, it is just you

I suspect you can probably get away with it but why take the risk. Converting a license is not hard and you don't have to "blacklist" your Malaysian driving license if you are creative enough.
irrelevant

ok.. u are right about the law. but in Singapore. there is always allowance given to foreigner... i just got caught yesterday for bringing in 2 pack cigarettes into the country.
kastam officer stopped me, fine me for 1 pack but the other open pack, they say its an allowance given (aka unwritten rule). they say according to the law, not even a single stick should be bring in. but the order from their higher management is there is an allowance given to foreigner. 1 open packet, less than 20 stick.

same goes for cars. TP rules says that u cannot drive with ur foreign license after 1 year. but their allowance is, as long as u don't touch any Singapore registered car/bike, its ok.
*
No he's not.

Singapore Traffic Police is governing the driving license. Why would it mention about foreign car when we are in Singapore ?

Foreign vehicles will fall into LTA, because LTA specifically mentioning the rules about foreign vehicles. LTA guideline still the same, to operate a foreign vehicles, you have to follow the guidelines set them, etc... not Singaporean/SPR, no residential address in Sg, car must insured under driver's name, bla bla bla

There's is no such things as 'allowance' under Sg rules.

Think i'll just stop explaining and let you guys interpret is as the way you like thumbup.gif
