maybe the person doesn't feed his/her hamster pellet? he/she probably let his/her hamster eat dirty things../not taking care good enough of the hamster.so the hamster might spread virus or something like that. or maybe the news is fake. I own 2 syrian hamster n I'm very upset with this news..btw they should provide more info's regarding the person who got infected by this virus..if they're not sure with this news why would they stated this issue in the newspaper? sad.gif hope that this news is not real.

Hi,

I just bought 2 WW hamsters a few hours ago. When they were transported back in a plastic container, both of them were doing fine. I put them in a glass thank 2 ft by 1ft. There were doing fine initially but when both of them bump into each other, one will chase the other until the other is back into the hiding house.

So, one is always exploring and the other is always hiding in the house...

Is this temporary or it's time to split the tank into 2 parts with wire mesh, which they still can see and smell each other, for a while? Or let them both to settle it themselves?

Thanks.

Winter white hamster are meant to be alone. You cant put two together. You might see them doing fine in the pet shop together but once you bring them back home and put them together, they will fight. Some even fight till one of them died or both died from severe injury.

You need to separate them. Only robos can be put together. WW hamster are meant to be lone wolf.

can use but toilet paper absorb urine very fast & good...so the tissue paper might become damp with urine & smell bad overtime...plus if the hamster carry it in their pouch...their saliva might shrink the tissue paper plus tissue paper isnt cheap man...

other than that...using tissue paper in their sleeping place is good...as long as its the odourless soft type...

whoa your syrian is freaking adorable!

if you toilet train your hamster using tissue is good.
i think using tissue is actually the best cause its not harmful to their respiratory system and digestive system
it's also soft so it wouldnt cut their cheek pouch
but it will get soak so the best is to toilet train them
i use both tissue (as a base) and shreded paper and absorbancy is not an issue since hamlet is toilet trained.

haha... well havent tried that, but i have tried putting him in my breast pocket with his
head pop up looking at ppl when going to the mall during winter...
and he just stayed and watched in there quietly(during summer, cant do that at all since he likes to climb up and run away).

thanx
well in my case, the last time i used is the all natural aspen bedding(since both pine and cedar can cause alot of problems to our little furries).
they can be in form of pallet(use this, i recommend you since its not sharp, no dust, and can serap the bau more than shavings)
or shavings too, and cheap of course. but here, they look a bit expensive >.<.

but if ure looking for alternatives like me, since at first owning Peanut, i got no money haha, so i DIY his bedding.
1) if u got a paper shredder at home/office, USE Them!! makesure use plain white paper since u dont want those carbon inks on surat khabar end up in ure hammy mouth. (if kaya, just buy the recycle paper pallets, but i dont like to prefer them since i dont know how they make them and what chemical they use on it to produce those stuffs). If you dont have shreddar, just cut the paper manually la.. haha
2) Or if ure office has a lot of paper puncher

collect all of those circular cut papers(trust me, you need alot of them, beg my Uni lecturers to give me every month..haha) and use them. just make sure no scented paper are within that pile.

you can mix both of this 1 & 2 to get better result since my hammy likes to play with his bedding very very much.. and like to jump in that circular cut paper piles and drag all the long paper strips everywhere, ending up making my room a lil bit messy in the morning. NOT recommended to hammy who likes to chew paper though..mine just like to chew tissue..
