Hi there, is the lump extremely soft? My robo has that too for months I guess. I didn't bother cuz it didn't disturb him nor does it look/feel harmful. Plus, he's one obese hamster so I somehow resort to the thought of the lump being extra fats hahaha.
Hi jeremy, Yes it's exactly like what you have said. The lump is extremely soft like liquid watery feel. It doesnt bother him at all & continue with his daily rountine. My hammie was one of a obese hammie too so i google about it & i assume it was a fatty lump. So now i been watching his diet very carefully.. Not too much sunflower seeds & treat for him & the lump are under control too. Havent got bigger nor smaller.

Not sure they have that brand on list but you can check here.
http://hamsterhideout.com/forum/index.php?...opic=71864&st=0I personally cannot find anything good enough in our stores so I usually pick through his food to get rid of sunflower seed, corn and fruits which are supposed to be given sparingly and not as staple food as they are fattening and sweet especially for dwarves.
Added on November 8, 2012, 7:25 amone question I'd ask is if there are other hamsters in the same room
as this hamster? meticulous grooming can happen when hamsters
smell or sense another of the opposite sex... it triggers their "mating"
rituals!
there are other skin issues such as allergies, parasites and as you
know, the fungal diseases, that can cause irritated skin. has this
person checked the hamster's skin under the fur to see if there are
raw areas, flakiness or visible parasites?
what kind of bedding are they using?
note : pine and cedar beddings are very dangerous and should not be used as this can cause skin irritation and respiratory problems.
and the other lump scenario :-
the most important thing is the speed at which this lump is growing.
if it's growing fairly quickly, like visibly growing over the course of
the past couple of weeks, a vet needs to be involved now to remove
it. otherwise, it will continue to grow and, depending on its location,
interfere with internal organs.
Hi starrynight.. Actually his elder brother are just living beside him. My hammie was a male too. Previous brought another male thought to accompany my hammie but then they fight so i have separated them & put them in a separated cage so basically there are just living to beside each other side only. Currently i didn't use any bedding but i got put some shredded tissue for them. Tissue is it okay for them? Previous i have use vitakraft bedding for small animal but lately been out of stock so i'm waiting for the stock to arrive but actually i'm thinking of switching his bedding to wood pallet. Wondering will be better than woodflake bedding?
Vitakraft bedding (Previous Use) :-

I notice vitakraft bedding are too rough might afraid my hammie will not comfortable. It's kinda hard to find a good bedding at kl here. Too less choices =(
Bout the lump:-
It's like visibly growing over the course of the past couple of weeks & then when we notice about it we quickly google it to find out. Now we been watching over his diet. Previously give him too much treat & sunflower seeds so now we have reduce it & the lump havent gotten bigger too. When we slightly press it to examine he doesnt show any pain nor discomfort or pain. Beside the lump are soft & covered in furs. No red vessels or pink in colors.
Thanks alot starrynight. You really provide more usefull information than i can search at google. My hammie & i are so thankful. Thank you so so much
