I would also like to ask about my pair of hamsters.. Both r females. I bought them last week..both come from the same cage.. They doesnt seem to fight when i bought home.. After a few days they seems like wrestling around.. How can i be sure that they're playing or fighting?

if one is chasing the other away from the food or kept harassing the other non stop, then it's fighting.

pay attention especially to their physical well being .. notice if there's any cut or injury or blood, separate them right away.. it can end up fatal

"If you give your hamsters a treat when you get home they'll come to expect it and be waiting for you!"

This is so true! But sometimes I pity them when it's not time for food. Keep on hooping into the food plate and jumping around the cage for my attention.

By the way, I have noticed a new type of bedding since mid of last year. Looks like marshmallow / cotton cube. Some brand even comes in few colors. Price is unexpectedly expensive though. Anybody tried that ?

I'm thinking of changing my bedding to this type since I have been spending quite some times on filtering the wood shaving for the every time I change the bedding. Wood shaving always in very sharp shape and a lot dust.

what is the brand called? bear in mind that cotton is dangerous to hamsters, they can swallow it and gets caught in their digestive system or the cotton can get tangled in their limbs cutting off blood supply ..

I use paper bedding - expensive but also a bit of dust. Like you said wood shavings are sharp and the hamsters cannot pouch/carry it to nest or play with ease.

arr maybe not really cotton, just the shape and color look at least to me like cotton or something edible LOL.
But now that you mentioned you are using paper bedding i think it's paper bedding then.
Can't recall the brand but it's something like Carefresh or Kaytee bedding that I look through online.

Mind give some idea where you got yours and the price is ? I find them more comfortable.

Nah, not really Carefresh though. I seriously forgot about the brand already. But the bedding is that type. Got color and non-color 1 then anti-odor type also. Saw them in a pet shop in Cheras leisure mall. Quite pricey. Small pack 1 around RM50.00 big 1 RM100.00 like that. Possible that the 1 i saw is the 1 you are having.

Good to know. biggrin.gif

I joined the Hamster Hideout forum, I learned that hamster should not be given pine-based bedding. I bought already, I is the Chipsi brand and another is pallet type.

I am contemplating on ordering carefresh / kaytee but need credit card to pay. aiyo.

I try n use this one first la before i decide how to order the other two. hehe biggrin.gif

Anyone know where I can get white mask / husky roborovskis? Been on the lookout for some for a few months now. The pet shop in Curve has them, but they're all big and slightly old already. Only managed to pick one that was a few months old a week back. Any other shops/sellers that have them? Thanks.

Homefriends are paper based btw, its safe for hamsters as well. Avoid chipsi, some of the bedding are really sharp, there is even pointy sticks in the bedding that can accidentally poke your hamster.
