Gen X,

can we have a write up on the Ambank cards on their latest promo?
tq
*
I just checked out AMBank promos, the 20% cash back looks good but after reading the T&C, looks like one most probably will only benefit if they swipe on the first Saturday of the month and maybe lucky get something on the first Sunday of the month. AMBank only allocated RM200,000 per month for the promotion. Unlike AMEX cash back promo where it is only applicable at malls in Klang Valley, AMBank promo is applicable to entire country at all hypermarkets and as such I believe the amount would be reached on the 1st week of the month.

The other good promo is AM FlexiPay where can convert purchase to 6 months 0% installment.

And sure, I can think of something to write about the AMBank Promo.

Haha, actually i did, just cant understand only.

OK, I reread your post.

1. You be imposed late charges of 1% (Min RM5 and max RM50) if you fail to pay minimum payment by Due Date.

2. On interest charges, read my article titled Credit Cards Are Cash Cow for Banks. Are You working for the Banks? by clicking here.

QUOTE(zenquix @ Jun 20 2011, 06:37 PM)
i think posting date is inaccurate. It is not related to the posting date but rather the merchant's processing date that directly affects the actual transaction date.

example 1: a lot of online merchants only process orders taken on weekends on Monday, so your transaction date is Monday and not the weekend (and miss out on 5%)

example 2: a transaction made between 12am - 1am Saturday came up to be a transaction dated Friday (as the merchant only processed the previous days orders at Saturday AM)
*
Noted, based on merchant's processing date. Example 2 if for different time zone yah?

QUOTE(hye @ Jun 21 2011, 11:49 AM)
If you are in a different time zone then what counts is where Malaysia is as the transactions are captured back here in Malaysia.
Can be confusing  rclxub.gif
*
Let say we use the card on Saturday Morning 7am for online transaction and the merchant processing centre is in US where it's 7pm Friday night. So that means the transaction will be captured as Friday I suppose.

If you remember Bata case, he posted his card at around 12+ am but the fraudulent transaction for Air Asia was captured on prior day E.g he posted on 24th 12.30am but transaction was 23rd. I know AA outsourced their ticketing but got no idea where it is located.

i just noticed we don't have a dedicated thread for citibank cards
anyone wanted to start one? citibank is having their "usual" promotion

i no longer hold any citi cards  tongue.gif
*
Even you do not hold any Citibank CC, so it can be that great tongue.gif If Citibank have some sort of auto annual fee waiver like swipe 12 times, sure more people will consider it as save us time calling CS for waiver.

As requested, I just posted my article on AmBank Credir Cards Promotion at my blog.
Click here to read my article AmBank Group Credit Card Promotion 2011. Those of you that spend RM400 on the 1st Sat & Sun of each month can consider this card.

FYI, all MasterCard transaction of RM100 and above are entitled to enter MasterCard 1Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival Contest where the Grand Prize is RM100.000 shopping spree in KL. With most of us using MBB 2 AMEX, more chances for those without the AMEX card, hahaha.

I want to add here that you get RM50 reward with new card application with minimum spend. That will help you to cover first year GST.

Thanks for reading the article. As for the RM50GST, I did see one ad but the promotion have expired as gerrardling mentioned.

hi,

Wanna ask.

Currently i wanna apply ocbc titanium card, i'm using PBB gold card. For the PBB card i'm using the expiry date is july 2012. As i know, the government GST will be charge on the month of the expiry date. My statement cut off date is 12th of the month. I have received this month statement. may i know when exactly can i expect the GST to be charged?

I'm considering to cancel the PBB card before they charge me the GST. But i'm not sure whether ocbc will approve my application that fast. I've just registered my interest on OCBC web.

Thanks  notworthy.gif
*
recently many people reported that their OCBC application was approved pretty fast. Go check out OCBC Thread.

sorry if my question sound silly..

I really interested to apply Maybank 2 card...but i'm a bit scared to used AMEX...from what I read...AMEX is charge card rite...and the interest rate is much more higher compare to normal credit card..

Am I rite?..or Maybank 2 card (amex) is same as other credit card?
*
for both credit card and charge card, if you settle before the Due Date, you won't be imposed a single sen of interest.

Ambank Credit Card is offering 20% cash back (during weekend) until March of 2012. What I know is it applies for petrol (any), grocery (tesco and more), and some other...anyone got more info?

Also the monthly cash back caps is at RM80.

I guess you did not read last few pages where I posted an article on AmBank promo, click here to read more on AMBank Promotion 2011. Also read the Terms and Conditions in AmBank Group website.

I don't get you. What do you mean by Citibank is upgrading Platinum to PremierMiles ? Citi PremierMiles card, despite being a VISA Signature card, is actually a class lower than the regular Platinum credit card in Citibank Malaysia system.
*
Miles & hye, I know what he meant. Citibank offering PremierMiles to existing Platinum Cardholders. Someone mentioned this in my blog.

hi all,
i got question.my credit card has expired.
can i renew it or need to apply a new application?
I m aware that normally bank will send you a notices or new card few month before the actual expiry date.but in my case i didn't receive any letter/ card.probably because the letter is not posted correctly to my address.
i hope somebody can guide me whether i can still renew it or need to apply a new application.
thanks in advance
*
a new card should have been sent to you before the existing card expired. Call Customer Service to check if they have sent it out.

Added on July 6, 2011, 11:07 am

Next round perhaps ? Though I wondered whether it is the bank or the LYN staff who approached the banks for advertising space.

Citibank need to do something to regain their market share. No new products for a long time and existing card offerings are a bore and a mismatch to current consumers needs. I think Maybank is quickly eating into their market share very quickly, especially since MBB2 cards appeared in the market.
*
Aiyah, your fan club all left you. since you become Mod, no more fun, no one dares to go against you or else they be banned hahaha

Yah, Citibank need to contact you, Miles and Me if they want to have a product that everybody wants, hahaha

I cannot recall 100% contest, was it UOB? EON has a 50% cash back contest. But those are contest so chances of winning it is very slim. Furthermore it is no really 100% or 50% because there's a cap to it too.
