I was JK, anyway good for you that your wife does not want debts.

OT: Click here to read about my post on my thoughts regarding the wife's club at Ringgit Wise Fool.

I also just posted an article titled Credit Cards are Cash Cow for Banks. Are you working for the banks? I must admit that I did overspent with banks offering 0% plan for this and that sad.gif

Click here to read my article Credit Cards are Cash Cow for Banks. In this article I mentioned about 0% Installment Plan, BT and other benefits of credit cards that entices us to spent beyond our means. And then we are imposed interest rate which is damn high. And that credit card is the best product in the world to make money.

SCB fan reporting in..

SCB Business Visa offers
1. 1% cashback (0.5% instant cash-back, 0.5% ChoicePoints redemption)
2. UNLIMITED KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge Access
3. 3X ChoicePoints for overseas spending

HLB Essential offers
1. 1% cashback (credit into your CC)

I use the SCB Business Visa for big purchase, places don't accept AMEX or whenever used up the Cash-Back on OCBC Titanium or Maybankard2 AMEX.
*
Alliance Plat
1. Minimum 0.6% cash back and up to 2% but capped for spending up to RM5K PLUS 1X reward Points for local spending.
2. Unlimited KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge
3. 2X reward Points for overseas spending.
4. Points are evergreen
5. Auto annual fee waiver with 12 swipes.

The thing with Alliance Plat is get the MasterCard where the overseas rate is lower compared to the Visa (mentioned by zenquix and observed the same in my case). Click here to see overseas transactions with my CC.

Alliance's TBP can be converted to CASH ?
*
Nope, but can convert to Enrich Points.

Just FYI, the returns for Giant, JJ and Parkson cash voucher works out to be 0.46%

Anyway, below is link to Alliance Cash Back, once you spent above RM2550, you get 2% for remaining RM2450. Total max cash back about RM68/month

http://www.alliancebank.com.my/ccard_cashback.html

If you like spend RM5,000 locally, approximate total returns = 1.36% (cash) + 0.46% (voucher) = 1.82%

Do you also know that MBB and CIMB cards is also aggressively promoted in Singapore ?

In Singapore, UOB got AMEX and it gives 10X points. Takashimaya Amex gives cash back 6%.

hahaha, this thread a bit slow, so here I go OTing. Mods please delete if any of you find this post not appropriate.

Nowadays with all kinds of cards, men's standard wallets having 6-12 slots for cards are just not adequate. Even if you can manage to squeeze in all the cards, the wallet becomes thick.

Myself, I use to have a cheap Bonia wallet that can hold 12-15 cards until my wife bought me a LV Multiple wallet which has only 6 slots for cards but I manage to squeeze in 7 CC, JJ card (free parking at JJ), IC and driving license. The rest of my cards are in a elongated wallet which I bought for 70% discount at Robinsons, click here to see it. And I carry a sling bag (for years now) for the elongated wallet together with my 3-4 phones, house keys, car keys, pens, other merchants cards, hair brush, hacks, fags, lighters (keep loosing them) and can also fit in an iPad. And many people have commented that I either look line Ah Long or VCD seller (last time worst, use to dye my hair blonde), hahaha. milentechie, time for you to carry a sling bag too biggrin.gif

Haha...so many credit cards thumbup.gif Govt really needs people like you to contribute GST rclxms.gif
*
you should thank me for subsidizing your sugar in your teh tarik and petrol for your car tongue.gif and I thank you for reminding me, just called UOB to cancel my wife supp card (but in actual fact I paying more GST for the UOB cards this year doh.gif ) And with my wife now having her own principal cards, yeah, paying like too much to the government.

So far, EON Bank credited RM50 into my account 2 months back and last month RHB gave me RM50. Now waiting for Citibank to credit RM50 into my wife and my accunt since we have used in more than 3 times in the first month. As I mentioned in my blog, HLB last 2+ years no need to pay GST since they gave me free 20,000 points (last time only need 7000 points to offset GST). OCBC auto GST waiver and hopefully I get another RM50 from EON Bank for using the card 36 times. I have canceled MBB Petronas and AMEX Gold CC to save RM100. My Amex Gold Charge Card which I don't use anymore got enough credit ( AMEX credited Jan cash back recently only) and MR points for next 7 years for me to shiok sendiri, hahaha

But, what the govt really need is people having outstanding balances so that they can earn 25% from the interest charges. Govt actually losing out with me having so many cards, because I get cash back or other returns in form of discount (which means less profit for the merchant and therefore less tax) and cash vouchers which are not taxable, hahaha. But then again, this year I am no longer in the highest tax bracket so they not losing out much.

But seriously, you are right, if one does not earn more than RM50 with their credit card, really no point having the card unless they are a fool like me, hahaha

you should change and start having your wallet in the front pocket, not only will that prevent damage to your cards but also sitting on your wallet is not good feng shui practice.

I don't like to submit payslip together as i know i would get a lower credit limit. Lets say my salary only 8k, the new CC will only give max 25k CL? Meanwhile my other CC that more than 1year already given me 50k CL. So if i don't provide any salary slip, i may have the chance to get 50k or more than 50k CL... else i would just ending with 25k CL.
*
if you income is more than RM36K per year, the CL guideline of 3X monthly salary is not applicable.

Doesn't work for me on MBB CC CL. They rejected my request to go higher than 3x, even when I submit all the docs.
CIMB gives me 5x on my new application recently.
*
I think no one here really knows how the bank assign credit limit and each bank got their own way of evaluating their customers.
Take MBB for example where they gave you 3X CL. My wife MBB 2 CL is about 4.5X her monthly income (take her last year total income declared to IRB/12) and at that time she only had 1 principal Credit card from Alliance Bank that was 4 months old.

When I got my Citibank Plat recently (apply via CitiGold), they even increased my CL from my previous Clear Card CL (which has hit the upper limit of RM30K) and that's with me declaring I'm unemployed (it was updated in their system when I opened a savings account with them).

hi. i got some confusion <or noob>..its like this

Let’s say I wanted to buy a laptop for RM2000 and the store offers 0% interest installment plans with 36 months to pay. If I had a RM5000 limit that is used until RM 4500, and I buy the item, how will my credit card be charged?:

a.) upon buying the item and
b.) every month provided I get the 36 months installment plan?

or i have to have at least RM2000 unused in the card to make the swipe?

THANKS A LOT~
*
yes, you need at least RM2000 unused credit

a) and b) RM2000/36

well maybe RM56 if they round it up. If you got outstanding balance, better you use a different card (if you have one) for the installment plan. Why you want to pay interest? Seriously, if you have outstanding balance, you should not even consider buying the notebook.

Wonder anyone here owns UOB Preferred Platinum?

I was charged for annual fee of 388 and GSC 50.

Annual fee can be waived if I make one transaction from now on till 7 days later with any amount.

GSC 50 could not be waived anyway unless using point redemption.

Thinking to cancel right away since seldom use it.

Any privilege of holding this card?
*
QUOTE(shiroikun @ Jun 15 2011, 01:38 PM)
I have this card too. As usual the annual fee waived, for my case, I need to spend RM300 continuously for the first 3 months. Call the CS to get the rm50 rebate.

Not much privilege except you can enter both LCCT and KLIA Premium Plaza Lounge during your travel (only applicable to the first 400 CC holder monthly)
*
LAst time when I had UOB Plat Visa and MC, I had to swipe 12 times each for auto waiver.

After I cancelled my MC, for my visa I have to swipe 12 times and spend RM3K to get auto waiver. So shiroijun, pretty good deal you got there. For this year, I have spent more than RM3K and therefore no need to worry about my coming annual fee.

I did rank UOB Pref Plat at No.7 for my article Malaysia Top 10 CC, click here to read about it.

And click here to read more about UOB Preferred Plat. UOB good for buying Coach handbags as we get SMART$ cash.

Actually, I will be going to Swiss Watch Gallery later this evening to check out what promotion they are offering UOB Preferred Plat card members (received invitation from UOB via sms last week and had to reply to confirm). Anyone going there?

OT, but if the price of the watch is the main criteria and not the buying experience, ask the watch sifus ck77 or patryn33 at The Watch Thread v3 for recommendations. Cash normally gets you a better price but not all the time - do read up the topic to get an idea of the authorised discount level given by authorised distributors (AD) for a particular watch brand. Just be careful not to get poisoned tongue.gif
*
just came back from Pavilion, a bit high as they serving free booze smile.gif Was told that Rolex watches now only 10% discount and solid gold 15%. So I called up another Rolex watch dealer and she confirm that effective last month, the standard discount for classic models have been reduced from 15% to 10%. Anyway, thanks wshoh for the info, I am not into watches and furthermore just got a Rolex early this year for wifey.

While at Pavilion, saw a booth for MEGA sale 15 June - 31 Aug. MasterCard Rewards - Free beauty vouchers when you charge RM100 and get additional shopping vouchers when you charge RM500 to MasterCard.

For more info visit www.mastercard.com.my/shopathon

EON Bank - free exquisite spa gift when you charge RM3K to EON Bank Pavilion Card. Free travel gift set when yo charge RM300 with EOB Pavilion CC or RM500 with other EON Bank CC.

What the heck, the gift is like for ladies and we men are paying for it.

Also did a comparison to determine the cash back from the four cards above, and as you all know, MBB 2 the best lah.

Thanks for doing that table. One question... Would it be better if you included Smart$ into the table as well because you have included TreatPoints into MBB2 Amex? If want to leave out the Smart$, then maybe should also leave out the TP for MBB2 Amex so that can compare apple to apple.
*
you must to be the covert agent I 'm talking about, hahaha JK

In my article I did mentioned that I am not sure if the SMART$ Cash is still applicable for BHP, Giant, TESCO and carrefour. You got a point, if the One Card earns you 7% cash back at BHP, then it is excellent, but it is only at BHP and not at ESSO and Shell, therefore if I were to state 7% for petrol in the table then it would not be apple to apple also. On top of that, I would then also need to mentioned Smiles points and Bonuslink points at ESSO and Shell to make it apple to apple too, haha Then for cinema, I have to state that Citibank gives 1 for 1 free tickets (up to 2 for 2) at TGV too......

dont know why my topic was deleted, seems like some people are overzealous in their attempts to keep the boards clean?

Anyway I would really like some advice.

I'm currently overseas and might be running out of cash. I only have my credit card (maybank2 cc), didn't bring my ATM.

Is it possible to use the credit card on their ATMs to withdraw? ATMs will ask for a PIN number but I don't have one for my CC. Can I call maybank to give me a PIN?

Thank you
*
alexwsk have changed the title of this thread to "Ask General Question" smile.gif

Since you got no pin number with you, I doubt MBB will give one over the phone, so it is not possible for you to withdraw cash from ATM. BUT I remember more than 20 years ago in USA, anyone can go to the banks and withdraw cash with credit cards over the counter with the tellers. If there is a MasterCard or Visa logo on the bank door, most probably I guess you still can do so. Check it out.

My advise to all, get a Debit Card for overseas cash witdrawal, while in US 2 years ago, I had no problems withdrawing cash with my UOB Debit Card at many of the ATM but couldn't do so with my RHB Debit Card hmm.gif

Thanks for the replies.  When you say high interest rates, does it mean interest will be charged from the day of withdrawal, and I am still subject to paying interest even if I clear my CC balance on time?
*
Read below link where I touched on cash withdrawal briefly and go to MBB site to read more on the T&C
Credit Cards Are Cash Cow for Banks. Are You Wroking For The Banks?

And by the way, withdrawing cash from bank tellers are imposed the same interest rate as withdrawing from cash machines and not sure if there are additional fees.
