QUOTE(Acey @ May 3 2006, 09:37 PM) wuah, a lot of investment experts here... invest in World Cup 2006 good no? This is not called investmnet but gambling is a better word, not the same Regarding the SSF, apart from the first day of trading, there is almost no trading at all, with that kind of response, suspect it is doom. But to be fair should give a few month time to see then. It is actually quite a good product but with low response and low liquidity in the SSF, most investor would rather invest into the stocks. Also, there is only a few securities provided real time qoute which also a factor that hinders the growth of SSF.

QUOTE(Darkmage12 @ May 6 2006, 01:46 PM) can u give us more details? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Kuala Lumpur, April 10, 2006 - ING Funds Berhad, announced today the launch of the ING AsiaPac Capital Guaranteed Fund, the first capital guaranteed fund of its kind in Malaysia. The fund assures investors 100% return of capital after three (3) years, with diversified exposure to five selected Asia-Pacific equity market indices via the ING AsiaPac Index Option. It is ideal for local investors who are looking to participate directly in the Asia-Pacific markets and are prepared to stay invested for the three year period. At the end of the three years, the fund will return 100% of the invested capital plus any returns from the performance of the five selected regional equity market indices.
The ING AsiaPac Index Option consist of a basket of equally weighted market indices comprising the of Kospi 200, Korea; FTSE Xinhua, China (listed in Hong Kong); Nikkei 225 Japan; ASX 200 Australia and the MSCI Taiwan Index.
The unique feature of the ING AsiaPac Capital Guaranteed Fund is that it provides 100% equity participation in the five selected regional equity markets via the listed basket of ING AsiaPac Index Option - the first index option to be listed and traded on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. The fund provides investors with potential upside, based on the average market movements of the five selected market indices over a three year period.
Steve Ong, Chief Executive Officer, ING Funds Berhad stated: " The ING AsiaPac Capital Guaranteed Fund has been specially designed for investors seeking to preserve the value of their capital, whilst seeking higher potential equity returns from investing in the five selected Asia-Pacific markets. This fund provides investors with cost effective and easy access to the five Asia-Pacific markets. By investing across the five equity market indices investors are essentially investing in the 750 blue chip counters across the region.
In terms of risk diversification, the ING AsiaPac Capital Guaranteed Fund spreads the risk over the five equally weighted market indices, and across the 750 blue chip counters. We selected the five regional markets as they enjoyed significant growth over the last three years. Countries like Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea and Australia are expected to provide potential upside in their respective markets over the next three years." He added that in comparison with current available global offshore funds, the ING AsiaPac Capital Guaranteed Fund is the most competitive and charges only 1.5% entry fee plus an annual management fee of 1% for the three year period. This translates into investors having more money working towards generating potential returns on their invested capital.
A unique feature of the fund is the return of the ING AsiaPac Index Option will be averaged across thirty six months and this means that any volatility in the five market indices will be spread across the three year period. At the end of the three year period, the return will be the difference between the average thirty six monthly observations and the starting index levels of these markets. The ING AsiaPac Capital Guaranteed Fund's approved fund size is 300 million units while the entry price during the 45-day offer period from 12 April to 26 May 2006 is RM1.00 per unit. The fund is also recognised by the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and investors have an option of taking-up the funds through EPF's Members' Investment Scheme, therefore allowing for greater participation by the public.
Investors can purchase units of ING AsiaPac Capital Guaranteed from authorised ING Funds Advisers as well as authorised bank distributors, which are EON Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, United Overseas Bank, Alliance Bank and AmBank.

QUOTE(hfmea @ May 6 2006, 12:32 PM) Anyone here invested the "ING AsiaPac Capital Guaranteed Fund"? It sounds very promising.. I thought so too until I got the prospectus. They said there if the USD/MYR rate goes down, you're not going to make a lot. The USD/MYR rate (currently at 3.60) is forecast to drop, so now I don't know if that's a good idea. What's an SSF ? EDIT : Found the brochure. It says : "Investors may receive low or even sero performance bonus.. if the USD/MYR exchange rate moves against the indices." Not too long ago it was 3.80.. then it was 3.70... now it's 3.60. Is it a good time ? I don't know. This post has been edited by wodenus: May 7 2006, 11:20 PM

SSF - Single Stock Futures
The TM's Futures hasn't been recording a single contract until now. Daily trading is less than 10 contract most of the time. With that kind of low liquidity, it is not wise to trade with since you will have difficulty to get out of the market. Until now, the KLCI futures is the only futures product that can be called successful apart from the CPO. Others are just merely 'show-off' only.
Btw, the 'goreng' has been excessive in the market, better be carefuly. There is no real serious foreign investors into the market since blue chips and large caps mostly quite quiet. The market is full of punters and some hedge funds with hot money to take advantage of both appreciation ringgit and 'goreng' activities.

Hello everyone,
I am with Public Mutual dealing with unit trust. If your guys are really interested, it cannot be explain within this forum.
My office is at Cheras Business Centre. And we do conduct free training for people who are interested ... either as an investment or as a unit trust consultant (i.e. you can also earn extra income).
To be a unit trust consultant, you must have SPM and must be above 21 years old. Of course you will have to sit for an exam (which is pretty easy).
Interested then PM me. We can discuss from there.
Regards.

SSF... The bidding and offering prices are too far apart. Underlying stock doesn't fluctuate much as well. My clients were like "We'll see how it goes." So basically, everyone is saying the same thing. Probably through settlement we will see some slight increase of volume but not much. I'm looking forward to the FTSE indices though.
Anyone knows SBB Mutual well? Like its standing within the unit trust industry in Malaysia? How their products fare? Was it affected by the merging and so forth?

QUOTE(Minimayo @ May 11 2006, 01:57 PM) just wanted to ask what is the exact meaning from the word " Real Estate" ? is it like land broker , house broker all that ? correct me if im wrong "Real Estate" means land and/or property. Some related terms : "Real Estate Agent" = someone who sells real estate (land or property) "Real Estate Investment Trust" (REIT) = a fund indexed to the value of one or more properties. What this means is that if the price of the property goes up, the value of the fund goes up, and vice versa. If the property's price comes down, the price of the fund goes down. If you invest in a REIT, you're not actually buying a property, but buying a share of the property. It's like this lah, office buildings are expensive (10mil or whatever) so they break it up into shares (called units) and then sell these units to people. This means everyone who buys units has a share of that office building. What they then do is rent out the office building, and then share the rental with all the investors. With US and global market are significant down last week when out market is closed and news with Iris being designated, wonder how the market will react.
Btw, there are a handful of Mesdaq company major shareholders already disposed or reduced their substantial shares to the market so even if their share is hitting limit down, it won't hurt them.
