Got money may as well get unifi + streamyx + Yes as backup and still cheaper than leased line. Guaranteed no outage.

You mean a leased line doesn't use any submarine cable for international links? The line is leased up to the ISP, that's all, it will still have to share international links.
*
But those ISP that offer leased line (forgot the name...), they do reroute when there's prob with undersea cable, better than what TM can do.

please note that LEASED LINE HAS SLA thus higher priority on the sub cables...

your common traffic = lowest priority... smile.gif

aka congestion.. slow speed.. leased line.. no worries smile.gif

Why don't just change to Cat6??
Cat5 and cat5e main difference is cat5 up to 100mbps 5e up to 1gbps and less interference.
Cat6e up to 10gbps.

Correction. Its not the ethernet cabling. There are other factors involved. I'm using cat5 I can get 4ms ping. Always remember the network cable is not the main factor.

It does matter for local. If the source is reliable then... Cat5 can't transfer at gigabit speed.

I'm using the streamyx 512kbps plan, if I subscribe to Unifi, will I need to change my house number?

Also, since the contract is 24 months, if there are other plans that are more attracted after 12 months, am I entitled to upgrade or am I stuck with this for 24 months?

You need not to change your house number but you will be given a new number. In that way, you'll be paying separate bill for the old phone number while new number is billed under UniFi. Remember to terminate your streamyx at tm point after UniFi installation to prevent further charges. If your house old homeline is not important to you, just terminate whole phone line else you must bear extra RM27 per month for rental (Or Rm26?? ~)

Yes, but keep in mind. You can ONLY upgrade, NOT downgrade. After UPGRADING, your contract reset to 24 months. But i doubt you will downgrade it. lol...
