Hi guys, just to share my personal experience on Milkly rom. I tested it using Gallery for smoothness. It lag and frequent reboot. This even happen after flash to Talon kernel. Finally flash back to JVP plus Speedmod kernel. Performance is comparable and battery life also. Just my 2 cents.
*
Gallery is always buggy for me. You might've hit the frequency exceeding maximum frequency bug in Talon/Galaxian/Semaphore that people experience when using Gallery. I use QuickPic, better than Gallery and not buggy at all.

You were using 0.4.3 right? Try using 0.4.4.22.

*
You should flash the original Talon. It's stable for me as Milky's kernel is not properly tested although its a derivative of Talon.

Edit: And the kernel comes with 1.2GHz by default. Some phones might not be able to handle it, hence the reboots and hangs.

Don't worry smile.gif

Just that you have my support if you have problems with Galaxian or Talon. I follow both these kernels' development closely.

Describe your problem here, and I can probably offer some advice or workarounds to your problems.

Try using OndemandX governor, it saves battery in the long run.

err OndemandX governor is kernel ? or apps ?  biggrin.gif
*
Use Voltage Control and click the dropdown for governor. You can choose Ondemand, OndemandX, Performance. Choose OndemandX. Never choose performance though, you'll lose battery very fast (it gets locked to 1GHz) and the performance is not as smooth as the other two as its not tweaked at all.

Currently I have set my SGS to use automatic brightness. But from time to time, when I'm outdoor, I find that my brightness does not go up. I go check in the setting and realised that auto brightness has been disabled.

Anyone has any idea how does the auto brightness setting got disabled by itself? This is really annoying, chasing the chicken around.
*
What ROM/Kernel are you using? And do you have any apps that tweaks the display or Tasker like app?

Using Simplicity 0.33 now.

In fact this happens on all the ROMs I have used previously.

Don't have display tweak or Tasker running. I wonder what causes the auto brightness to be disabled by itself.
*
I'm using Simplicity too (0.31 though) and this doesn't happen to me. Did you flash any themes/mods?

Try TalonMTD:

See if it solves the problem smile.gif

The loopy_smoothness tweak doesn't work. It's based off a script that actually doesn't do anything but run in the background doing a renice (which the Linux system will do so automatically anyways).

*
No, for any script that runs in init.d, it should have full permissions to execute.

QUOTE(ic3joker @ Sep 4 2011, 02:31 PM)
already on it for second day. so everything is ok. smoothness i would put it likue this milky>criskelo>simplicity. for stable both are almost the same, no random reboot or hang. still a lil bit lag and delay there. sad.gif  maybe i am too used to cm7. overall not bad have to try few more day. for those on simplicity do you encounter some lag and delay after used for a few day without reboot? when i was on simplicity i have to reboot once a day to gain back the smoothness.  hmm.gif
*
What kernel were you on? The smoothness of a ROM is greatly attributed to the kernel.

QUOTE(ic3joker @ Sep 4 2011, 02:47 PM)
cm7 not = MIUI. MIUI is base on cm7 coding. which mean no cm7 no MIUI. actually the most stable kernel is the stock kernel. try to wait and see the problem still there if really cannot detect then only flash custom kernel. for custom kernel i think Fugu or neo are currently up-to-date kernel.

ohya does talon cm7 support MIUI? it should be can right?
*
TalonMTD is compatible with CM7 and MIUI.

yup.. on simplicity.. if use for long time.. will feel a bit lag & delay.. then need to reboot..
usually yes.. after used for a few day, need to reboot than fine back..
may i know how to delete that "loopy smoothness script"?
if not mistaken, that script work to kill apps is it?
*
Loopy smoothness script is a script that tries to make the dialer have a higher priority, but it's a constantly repeating script that can drain battery as well as making other apps unresponsive or creating lags. Best to let Linux manage the "nice"ness of each app and delete that script. Some devs already commented about it that its not doing anything good to the phone. Wonder why ROM chefs are always including it in their ROMs.

Odexed ROMs are the way to go. Simplicity and Milky are both fine ROMs.

why the juice defender icon got red dot?wat the meaning of all radios/interfaces is disabled
*
When it has a red dot, it means all radio interfaces are disabled (Wifi/3G are examples of radio interfaces)

6 hours battery drop 32%...[attachmentid=2419395]

How long was display on? Display eats a lot of battery. Best is to use minimum brightness to reduce battery usage. Only use auto-brightness when you're outside.

If you are on JVR, you can install $omator's Stock+. It includes the disable converting to MMS for long messages along with other things including extended power menu, statusbar icons with battery values etc.

Added on September 5, 2011, 12:06 pmset auto brightness mean the phone will increase or decrease the brightness automatically?
*
Juice defender's role is to disable radio interfaces at certain intervals to save battery. When its disabled, it will show a red dot, but you can configure it manually to enable/disable at certain time/situations also.

Yes, autobrightness means the brightness will increase/decrease automatically.

Reach 2 days 10 hours soon with my Talon 0.4.4.22 + Simplicity ROM. Display time is 2 hours ++. Wifi or 3G on all the time. Wifi around 10 hours and 3G around 14 hours.

Might be due to me using XXJVQ modem + Platypus init.d screen_scaling and tweak scripts.

Yeah, I don't use it much for these 2 days. if 2 hours can last 2 days, 7 hours is not really good I think. My display takes 20% of my battery use.

Hi bro. May I know wats the platypus thingy and tweaks?

I m having the same rom and kernel..but jvr modem and u.s.a.s init.d tweaks. I had wiped my init.d folder before flashing this tweaks. Only 1 script in the lnit.d folder now

Cheers
*
Platypus scripts are scripts that are made by Zacharias.maladroit. I tweaked them a bit to be more compatible to Talon. I can attach them here if you want them. the SAS (Acid Tweaks) init.d scripts are useless. Actually, I described them here:

wanna ask.. what if our phone has damaged partition, what do we do?  can someone explain more on this?
*
Damaged partition means there are corrupted files inside the partition. Run fsck on that partition to fix the data corruption (probably will lose some data on it)

QUOTE(alf @ Sep 7 2011, 11:16 PM)
hey bro, can you share the link for the modem? thank you~
*
Check Perka's file stash. XXJVQ modem or download any stock JVQ firmware. The modem is there (flash with Odin). I'll upload it later if you can't find it.

QUOTE(ken2291 @ Sep 7 2011, 11:30 PM)
thought so.. thanks! but how do we check and wad r the effects?
*
The effects of corrupted data in a partition can range from FCs, apps working weird, lost data on apps or in worse cases bootloop/non-booting ROM. Usually the non-journaling CWM zip comes with FSCK. Just copy the fsck and run it manually (or use an init.d script to trigger it to run at every boot).

After few weeks.. experiencing bit lags n app fc dy..
*
You might have a busybox problem. Install busybox installer and install 1.17.x into /xbin. After that remove all other busybox instances. Actually, copy those scripts to init.d and you can choose to wipe (or not wipe). Not wiping will potentially cause problems though smile.gif

I know this person very well.
He writes a lot but have no useful information to share.
He and SC are the two major g.p.l police.
None of them can it either.
Just read what they want and ignore the facts.
He can comment on things he does not have a clue about.
Will he be wrong then he will change his tactics and often is about language.
Which he claims he is very good at.
He is certainly better than me at it, but I see plenty of errors he do.
He also writes in many threads where other developers are and think he know much.
He and SC were those who always wanted to have my source code.

Always after they received it they used it in code or tell other how to do it.
SC made it very ugly and it was so obvious when he days after came out with a new kernel that he had changed so it worked better.
Given that I knew what was wrong, it's pretty easy to see the changes he made.
They both have very difficult when others are talking about things they do not have a clue about.

Then they use any dirty metods they can find.
Both of them shut down my topic on the Smurf place and both of them used my code without giving me a credit for it.
Unfortunately, both are smurf place sweethearts so they can do as they please.
Do not be surprised if the thread is closed when they do not like what is written.

RANT OFF ...
Edit: I didn't know that I used to compile kernels from Damian's source code. LOL. Must be in some alternate reality. Damian can see alternate realities??? tongue.gif
