JVH so so so smooth. too bad got battery drain problem. JVP too laggy. zzz
*
Don't think there are much differences for JVP/JVH in terms of lagginess. Might be differences in kernel?

Talon is so so smooth, like butter off a frying pan. The only bug right now is the tethering bug which is also apparent in Speedmod. HC fixed it and Talon will be porting the fix soon tongue.gif

Not much activity here these 2 days. Just wanted to report that Talon kernel fixed the Wifi when rebooting issue in GB as well as the battery dropping to <90% after pulling charger.

Odexed ROM is the way to go currently. It's faster than deodexed ROMs.

simplicity ROM best with rfs or ext4?
*
I personally prefer Ext4 as I'm using it with Talon rom. The dev (Existz) puts a lot of upstream fixes (code from newer ext4 repositories) and applies the to the kernel making it very fast and efficient.

U using the talon oc or non-oc?
*
I'm using non-OC. I can OC though as I've tried the 1.2GHz. I always go back to 1GHz as eliminates the need to troubleshoot if something goes wrong.

is there anything that we cant use with simplicity..you know like CM7 and MIUI we cannot make video call,no radio, choppy camera, bal bla bla...
*
Simplicity is basically a modded stock ROM. It pretty much has all of Samsung's stock features and more (you can read it in the first page).

gotcha, now waiting for it to complete, then give it a try
@pikachu01:

tqvm... i shall try the raw simplicity before add the spice :-)

I beta test the kernels, hence why I went for stability. This is to enable me to catch bugs and eliminate the usual suspects. Overall the kernel is very stable and very smooth and fast. The dev is also very knowledgeable in Linux and Android kernels.

Talon, by default is ext4 right?
or i need to enable voodoo lagfix
*
Talon is using Voodoo lagfix, hence it'll auto-convert your FS to Ext4 if you're using RFS on first boot.

I tried while i was on stock XXJVR (sammy), but ended with bootloop. Not going to do that again, cos it is such a pain to restore all the apps
*
Stock XXJVR needs to use odexed themes. Simplicity is odexed too, hence you'll need to use the odexed fixes.

After he ported to 0.3, I guess you need to download it using his Addon Creator?

QUOTE(erymanthus @ Aug 22 2011, 09:34 AM)
Hi guys,

Need some help here:

I have flashed my SGS with Stock ROM XXJVQ and then flashed with Chainfire Root.

Question 1
I would like to install a keyboard with dictionary...any suggestion where I can find it. Found 1 or 2 from XDA forum but when tried to install, it doesn't work.
Question 2
I installed the EXT4 tools from Chainfire. Trying to convert to EXT4. During conversion of RFS system to EXT4 failed, citing not enough space. How to get more space for system? Delete apps or delete files like photos, music etc?

Thanks
*
I can answer question 2:
Remove ringtones you never used in /system. Or remove some system apps like lcdtest or fonts like choco fonts (that you never used) to free up like ~4-5MB.

QUOTE(reehdus @ Aug 22 2011, 10:52 AM)
I've tried the Galaxian kernel, was initially interested because of the BLN. Then after further reading I discovered the BLN plugin created by neldar doesn't really work with the native messaging app on Android. Can anyone confirm this?
*
This happens with every Gingerbread ROM. You'll need a patched services.jar to resolve this. Where to get them? You can look at a custom ROM thread like Simplicity that already has this which comes with the ROM. smile.gif

Voodoo Color settings depend on your factory calibrated screen. Some AMOLED that are naturally blue/yellow are calibrated in the factory to restore it.

When you flash some custom kernels that support Voodoo color, you'll need to calibrate it yourself to one that is to your liking.

Here's a tip:
- Try moving the sliders when looking at the gradient.
- Move the gamma sliders together to a brightness that is suitable for you (or apply an aftermarket brightness adjuster like Screen Filter)
- After that, try moving the sliders bit by bit while looking at the gradient and try looking for neutral grays.
- After that, do the same for the RGB sliders.
