SGS 2 > ICS at 2012 Q1
Added on December 23, 2011, 2:13 pmto simplify
ICS (4.0) = Windows 8
Gingerbread (2.3) = Windows 7
Froyo (2.2) = Windows Vista
Eclair (2.1) = Windows XPDonuts and earlier = Windows 95/98/ME etc...
Despite mixing up the chronology, i think it would be much more accurate if it were backwards.

Thank you so much for that info.
But will it really make a difference between a Froyo on a SGS compared to Nexus S?
Cos Im thinking of getting a used SGS.
Not planning to root or whatever.
Just need it for work and surfing and reading blogs and lowyat.
I would recommend you get the Nexus S since the ICS update is already available OTA.

SGS on Froyo = turtle... my colleague use it now... my htc desire (rooted) faster than her 1... 200%
if the SGS need you pay more than 600... forget about it... top up and get new phone with GGB or above.
Root = unlock true capability of your phone... but its up to you...
some phone people even help them root.. coz they can sell same phone but faster speed,, better battery, nice UI etc...
Added on December 23, 2011, 5:42 pmjust explanation la... like win 8... its there... but we no feel it yet only... same as ICS in malaysia...
Added on December 23, 2011, 5:47 pmNexus S= constant update latest version at least for a year even you dont root... SGS =EOL (end of life)
lagfix + gps fix was already present on the Gingerbread update. You must be at least half a year out of date.

1. Brand.Any
2. Budget. 600 and above
3. Specs. any in that budget
4. What you need in the phone . good camera, durable(can withstand knocks),good battery life...
Durable eh, Xperia Active, Defy+/Defy but I would recommend something more practical like a better casing(aluminium ones) and the sort so you can get a more decent phone.
Besides, despite having those features, you're probably still gonna get a casing and an SP so what's the point.
If there is no budget limit I suggest you try looking for any non-g S2's, or a Moto Razr.
