S Plus is a LMAO phone.

Overpriced and performs the same as a Galaxy W.
And still lacks a camera flash.

If you plan on going for an S plus, I would recommend you opt for Incredible S.

Also, dev support is limited on the S Plus.

The G version is not recommended as of now. First batch has many issues. My bro told me there were many of them who sent their phone for warranty due to screen issues/corruption/etc etc.

Opt for other choices like Sensation XE/Razr if you can't wait.


O2x is an issue ridden phone. As far as I know, they're still not fixed yet. Won't go into detail, the few known ones are the yellow tint near the end of the screen, the fc issues(which I think got fixed by a minor update), though not being a problem but is still annoying, the crappy camera.

XE still runs on 800x480. How does it win screen wise? I would recommend the SGS2 over the XE any day due to better custom support and screen(S-AMOLED+). The Beats Tour included in the XE is also vaguely overrated and is quite shitty for its price(reason why they give it for free). Also, since you're a nexus one user, you might want to consider waiting for Nexus Prime.

Those two phones are in different classes. And since your requirements are quite general, I would say go for the best bang for the buck phone.

If your budget is >1.5k, SGS2(non-g)/Razr
If its any lower than that, Just go for the Original SGS if you're a fan of S-AMOLED, else go for Galaxy W/Incredible S/any other decent phone at that price.

Really depends on yourself though. Whichever one that feels right to you should be okay. But you should still ask here beforehand.

Arc S is not a good choice though.

I agree with you . The xperia l line looks better than most phones at their price but in terms of build quality, they usually lose out.

I highly regard the RAZR.
I'm pretty sure quite soon in the future the bootloader will be unlocked.

According to my bro, at least 5 sets come back a week for fc issues, screen fade issues, overheating a few more.

Though heat wise, if I'm not mistaken its supposed to run cooler than the non-g version so its pretty confusing.

You can try Garage Sales and see if anyone there still have new Non-G ori sets.

5 sets a week out of don't know how many thousand.

You can't count by saying you don't have the problem.

Of course you should lol.

Dual core era is bullcrap.
First of all, 95% of apps(excluding benchmarks) still run on single core and for some, despite being able to run on dual cores, doesn't need to for them to function smoothly.
Second, Dual core phones are still quite expensive compared to single core ones.
Third, Dual core phones bought now are just as an incentive, a lease to prevent your phone from being obsolete for at least another 2 years despite the speed of technology advancement.


Galaxy W is a VERY popular phone. I don't see how devs all around the world wouldn't port major roms(CM7/MIUI) to it. Even if no one might develop roms on it, with these major roms the phone would be decent enough.
Hell, if the phone itself came with a decent stock rom like Incredible S, they won't even see a need to flash roms and the sort. In fact, most people who buy android phones buy them for their availability and price, not for customization and tweaks.

If you're particular about sound quality, invest in a pair of decent IEM's. And no, I don't mean those currently popular Skullcandy imitations. A pair of IEM's like the Koss Sparkplug/Shure SRH215 should serve you well enough.

Camera wise, the SGS2 wins.

If you're just using it for surfing, a low end phone like the CSL Mi-300 should be decent enough.

Budget Android? CSL MI-310.

I don't see any 2nd hand mi-300 floating around.

A new one should cost you less than 400 though.

Not sure but they're not worth buying. Specs are not good and they're expensive compared to most other same spec-ed phones

Nexus S is a dev phone so updates would definitely go to the Nexus S before most phones. The Inc S has a much better camera though. And BQ wise, the Inc S wins too.

I would recommend you Galaxy S2/Skyrocket(AP) but since you don't like Samsung, I would say go for Razr. It uses a micro sim though so you will have to cut it.

Also, Evo 3d is not recommended. Some people complain that it lags even though it uses the same soc as the Sensation. The dual cameras, despite being such a high end phone only takes 5mp in monocular and only 2mp when taking stereoscopic pictures. I know that you shouldn't judge a camera by the size of the taken pictures but as far as I've heard the quality is not outstading.

More of a gimmick phone.

Nexus S best of the two. W uses a normal LCD screen.

Once you get used to the Nexus S's screen(tongue twister) you might not like other screens though. If they're not as nice that is.

Subjective. They both have roughly the same battery capacity but since the Galaxy Y runs on a lower resolution it might conserve a little more than the Mi-300. But it doesn't look good.

I suggest you look at Nexus S.

And also, the 400mhz of extra horsepower makes no difference. Most apps don't even need to run that high. Thus, it will be automatically downclocked. If you don't multitask a lot, it won't matter.

XE is not a bad phone but I suggest you look at Galaxy S2 first. HTC covers two years if you register it online. Also, when you buy the phone, check if the IMEI matches, behind the battery and other standard procedures. If you're buying from retailers(SenQ/HTC) there won't be anything much to wrry about.
You might get better deals from Garage Sales.

I suggest increasing your budget a little for an SGS2. Non-G preferred but you can get a G version if it doesn't mater to you. If not, Nexus S, Xperia Ray and most are already listed here. Galaxy R might be okay if you don't mind the scarceness of dev support.

How is it easily better than a Nexus S? If you mean screen wise yes. But nowadays only used S1's go for 800 or so. New Nexus S's go for 8xx too.

Samsung Galaxy W/Nexus S should do you well. There aren't any 4"> phones at that range. You can get used ones like SGS, HTC Desire S/Incredible S.

HTC Desrie S for the build quality. Camera is decent. If you're picky about the camera, Xperia Neo should be okay too but the bq is not good.

Since you won't root/flash, Desire S should do you better than the latter option.

Thats definitely nexus prime.

The extra 400mhz doesn't do anything at all if you're not multitasking. And even if you are, the processor itself will be too slow despite having extra mhz.

Your processor still needs too be fast enough to accept the load.

If good music is a requirement for you, invest in a pair of entry audiophile grade iem/cans. If you're not too picky about that even the stock earphones are quite good.

You can try Galaxy Note since you don't have any budget limitation.

If they fix all their issues then yes. If not, I strongly recommend you make more budget headroom for an SGS2.








Xeactor, even if you have enough ram, if your processor is slow it will still lag. On the other hand if you don't have enough ram, ongoing background apps which are not used will be automatically optimised to fit your new apps.

If you need a very good camera you should get a DSLR or a Nokia N8.

If you don't want to, then an SGS2/Motorola Razr/Sensation XE should be okay.
