Guys, i'm struggle between this few phones - SGW, SGS+, Google Nexus S
My budget is around 1k...
since SGS+(AP) , Nexus S(ori) is around 1k and SGW(ori) is aroung 900+, so this 3 phones is my choices regard the specs.... BTW, i'm not interested in huawei or csi... tq  sad.gif  rclxm9.gif  peace
Pls give me suggestion which one should i go for and state the reason if can. TQ    sad.gif

Nexus S is the best of the three.
1. Official ICS update.
2. cheaper compared to other phones and better specced
3. It comes with a stock launcher. What's not to love
Also, Galaxy W is not getting ICS and I don't think sgs+ is. Cuz even the original SGS is not getting the ICS

QUOTE(LaiFany @ Dec 22 2011, 08:17 PM)
Hi guys! I need some help on choosing a new phone.  tongue.gif Using a SE x8 now, and I'm bored with it... sad.gif

My budget is around RM1k. Might be topping up a bit more for a better phone if available.

I need a phone that does not lag and hang. (or at least frequently)

I basically need it for multimedia usage such as watching HD videos, listening to music, and surfing the web.

Oh, and I definitely need a lot of space for downloading apps, which I cannot do on my x8. sad.gif

That's all really. Hope I could get some recommendations!

Thanks!
*
Nexus S at RM9xx would be the best choice. The lack of a micro SD slot might be a turn off for you but 16GB should be more than enough for you. If its not, then I recommend you go for an AP HTC Desire S. RM899.

SGS can update their firmware over Samsung Kies. They don't have the OTA function as far as i know. Also, since not everyone has a data plan and even if they do they won't waste it on updating a firmware, most people would probably use their home wi-fi.

Hi all,

1. Prefered Brand: HTC/Samsung
2. Budget: 1.5k-2k
3. Specs:
Ram: 1gig
Proc: dual core
Camera's MP: 5~8mp with 720p or 1080p capability
Screen size: ~4"
4. What I need in the phone
- reliability(hence the least faults out of the box)
- good battery life.
- good warranty/after sales services.
- knowing that the brand's will gonna upgrade to latest android OS as soon as possible.
- sound quality isn't an issue but preferably comes with a good pair of earphones/handsfree.

Personal Note:
I'm currently geared towards galaxy nexus but was fond of HTC sensation XE. the only think stopping me right now is that the XE wasn't that promising in terms of battery life and i know that the Beats software is just a gimmick. whether samsung malaysia is gonna bring in Gnex is anybody's guess but from what happened to nexus S on maxis, it'll cost a bomb. As for samsung GSII, there's alot of debate which implies to not being reliable(screen problem was overheard from a friend). then there's a debate on g versions and non-g versions. I guessed i haven't really see a phone that i really want from the android lineup right now but would like feedbacks and suggestions as to what sort of phones i can get now. Maybe in Jan/Feb, there will be more announcements like the 4 core htc. I'm not too keen on that as its gonna drain battery like there's no tomorrow. what do you guys think?
*
I recommend you wait for the Q1 MWC announcement for phones since you have such a high budget. The phones then might be more suited for your requirements.

After sales service wise, I can't really comment on this because as of now I still have not sent my phone for samsung's warranty. I did send my friend's Incredible S for warranty and they're really punctual.

If SQ is a major issue for you, you should invest in a pair of audiophile earphones.
Also, the screen issue on the i9100 is more geared towards the G version. According to my brother, he receives roughly 2-3 sets every week due to screen fade/overheating issues. Not sure if they have fixed it yet though.

GNex will definitely come to Malaysia but the only debate is when. AP sets have been pouring in lately so you could probably opt for that if you can't wait for the official release. But as of now, I recommend you wait for at least another month before deciding on getting a phone.

No problem smile.gif Just here to help.

As for your question, I'm not too sure of that. Maybe someone else can clarify it for you.

Palm sized would probably be smaller than 4.3" and since you're so geared towards a HTC, I suggest you wait for the MWC as current offerings just don't seem decent for their price.

The Sensation is not a bad phone though but I heard there are some touchscreen issues. It's only 1.2k now though shocking.gif.

Also, about your statement towards the battery drain of a 4 core phone, I can assure you it won't be a big deal.

Most apps now aren't even capable of running on two threads what more four? And those cores which are not used will automatically power themselves down. As far as you are concerned though, it should consume more or less the same power.

2. Budget: around 700
3. Specs: Android OS
4. What I need in the phone: Must be able to install Whatsapp and Viber. And also must have a decent battery life.

Thanks a lot.

SE Xperia Mini 3" screen.

SE Neo V top up slightly 3.7" screen.

Samsung Nexus S top up slightly 4" screen (best choice)

Battery life on the nexus s is immensely good and with the abundance of roms and kernals, you should find satisfaction in at least one.

RM800 in garage sales.

Wait for MWC in Barcelona on Febuary. The quad core phones should be awesome enough.

As of now I won't recommend you buy any high end phones.

Nexus S is a bit too exp. Im looking for new set, not second hand. What about Galaxy Ace?

Nexus S is only RM8xx now from garage sales. New set.

Ace is not a good choice.
