what do u mean only 4 speed on manual mode? U mean sports mode? But how's that possible :-S
wad kind of issues do u mean?
*
the dual clutch gearbox on volkwagen cars are quite good in terms of performance but kinda weak in terms of reliability from what i read.

QUOTE(chuakz @ Sep 27 2012, 11:51 PM)
that is true....malaysians do care a lot about space that is why jap cars dominate in this segment...jap cars do not rely on high specs or great techy features....they rely on space and comfort to challenge the europeans and koreans in this segment...very evident in B segment sales with vios dominating....downside is that MOST jap cars drive like boats....vios for example...dead steering...no feel at all....very boring car to drive  shakehead.gif
*
don't get me started with the vios.
even the saga flx has better tech!

QUOTE(foxstertail @ Sep 28 2012, 01:13 AM)
I'm not trying to prove that the focus have a great interior space. as you can see from my first post, i did say that if you really care about those seating at the back, the focus is not the car for you.

and i'm not trying to justify the focus is a comparable car against its c-segment rivals in terms of interior space because i've said that you will feel claustrophobic when compared to its rivals.

so in conclusion, i do agree that the focus interior space is not up to the standards set by the class leaders. what i'm trying to prove from my post is to convince people that the interior is not that bad. some people keep on perceiving the interior of the focus as really inferior as if you are seating in a kancil. that's what i'm trying to debuff.

malaysian puts interior space as the first priority when purchasing a car. that's why you see a lot of myvis on the road. not only its cheap, but it's spacious as hell (or heaven. whatever you want to put it). hence by perceiving the interior of a focus is like a kancil will hamper its image (malaysians will disregard the car as incompetent due to interior space alone) which to me is really really unfair because the focus is a really great car.
*
my 2 cents about the interior space.
slightly bigger wrap round and plush seats compared to my civic fd1.
feels comfortable to be in.
rear space i couldn't really care because for me its a drivers car, and the 3 other people are bothering my personal space so should be glad they get to sit brows.gif

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Sep 28 2012, 03:00 AM)
aiks the 2 speed mana pergi? rofl
i didnt get to tekan the car as mentioned thanks to terrified unker SA lol

and yes, definitely having lag on R/1/2 gears for the ford's DCT. my year 1999 iswara auto responds much better on the transmission, which is a tad bit disappointing for a year 2012 car.
*
yes i have tested it.
when in sports mode you can go 1,2,3,4 thats it!
it only goes 5,6 in fully auto mode.
SA explained this by telling me 5,6 is mostly overdrive for highway cruising low rpm at high speed.
but then a similar dual clutch gearbox from volkswagen gives you 7 gears to play with.

my sa was a nice guy lemme test on highway but was during rush hour so couldn't really floor it.
but i guess the car not yet run in. only 70+ kms and feels really lazy wanna move from stand still or slight rolling after braking to 80% near round about.

It seems that even Honda City stock sound system is better than FoFo . . FoFo sound seems like lack of bass and the sound is mushy when u max its bass . . but FoFo has one cool feature . . the volume increase when u accelerate to 80 kmph
*
auto volume honda civic has that feature since FD series.
to still have integration you can always upgrade the speakers and still use the standard HU on the focus.

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Sep 29 2012, 06:46 PM)
im still on the fence with the lack of paddle shifters/DCT lag/sony HU LOL!
(and still waiting for the sentra to finish loan haha)
*
what is DCT lag?
the sony HU isn't all bad.

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Sep 29 2012, 09:42 PM)
and thats why im not buying now haha.

well when everything's good to go, i'll definitely test drive all the cars i am eyeing on. and hopefully ford focus will have eco boost or TDCI to give the competition a run for its money wink.gif
*
went to kepong's ford dealer next to carrefour to see the hatch.
previously i only test drove the sedan and seen the sedan in the flesh.

sedan
likes - blind spot detector
hates - beige leather seats although full leather and comfortable but feels uncle, sedan looks like a uglier hyundai elantra rear

hatch
likes - hatch looks and petrol tank cover
hates - half leather seats although nice black color, no blind spot detector

this place kinda stingy keep pushing me to put deposit but never offer me test drive.
ain't gonna buy from them.
i asked them if there is going to be ecoboost or tdci coming for focus they said no.

ford malaysia plan is ecoboost only for ST, tdci will no bring in anymore because new tdci is euro 4 so won't work with our shitty diesel.

Does anyone know if the Malaysian Focus has automatic door protectors? These are rubber things that pop out to prevent dinks at the edge of doors. See the youtube video below.

*
damn lately ford is very innovative! rclxms.gif

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Sep 30 2012, 07:57 AM)
talked about this during overtime TT/genting. but posting anyways for other readers on LYN tongue.gif
DCT = dual clutch transmission
its response in R/1/2 gears are sluggish/laggy
the HU is ok if you're not serious in ICE, otherwise it is rubbish lol.

btw the hatch no BLIS? i thought that comes with both hatch/sedan.
in fact both hatch/sedan have same specs except for cosmetics (like the petrol tank cap) and wheel sizes
speaking of the beige color seats, yea agree. would be nice if it's darker/black color. so i wont get my car old/dirty too soon XD
*
until someone really checks out the manual/innards to find a digital output i guess the only Upgrade would be better speakers. no output means no amp and subbie doh.gif

yes confirm hatch no BLIS, i went to see both cars.

QUOTE(zweimmk @ Sep 30 2012, 08:33 AM)
Ecoboost version will surely jump the price to 135k at least with the way they price the + version. If it hits 140k then it's a question of why not the K5 instead? As much as I hate to admit it, at that price bracket, there is no other competitor that can come close matching spec for spec.

Based on your budget though, you don't really have much else to go on. Anything above 130k is out and it's unlikely car prices will drop in the short term future.
*
lets say the current focus gets a 1.6/1.8 ecoboost and price hike of 10k, like you said
spec for spec nobody can touch it. and, like for like only vw golf tsi is its competitor.

ya main thing is the budget
if i wana get i think i get the + version sweat.gif
i can pay the monthly
but it will be tight sweat.gif
*
the sedan plus is alot of car for the price.
if its too tight then don't coz you might need disposable income more with economic and political situation being quite unstable lately.

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Sep 30 2012, 10:42 PM)
yeah you're pretty much spot on in that regards. maybe if i can get some pay raise just to be able to afford the 130-140k price range, that would be nice.

to be frank, while k5 has the specs, im personally not very confident with their engines in terms of max speeds, 0-100, torque and what not.ford seems to have a better edge on that at least (despite somewhat losing on the specs even with their new full spec focus )

granted, the idea of a c segment losing out to a d segment while being at the same price, is probably the breaking point for most people on the "why not k5 instead" fence sad.gif

its korean vs conti. icon_idea.gif

tdci is mad man

the push it gave u is just awesome

i asked about it the other day

still priced at 120k  sad.gif

anyone here wana sell their tdci?  brows.gif  laugh.gif

varies monthly?
you're business owner, salesman or mlm man?

the shop i went to at kepong offered me 15k discount.
i see in mudah 2010 models going for 90k.
think think 120 minus 15k = 105k for new car not bad what brows.gif
though my gf thinks the new focus is uber tech and smart looking.
tdci is a roaring beast......still doing my research brows.gif

tdci is fuel saver. can not win any drag race.if u travel a lot then tdci suit u beside of hybrids

for genting/ulu yam warriors like me torque is king.
for example my little 1.5cc car with 168nm torque at 1250rpm beats even 2.5cc cars going up genting laugh.gif

QUOTE(simchengheng @ Oct 1 2012, 09:43 AM)

i would have taken the sedan with BLIS too if i was going to buy one.

QUOTE(simchengheng @ Oct 1 2012, 03:03 PM)
how to difference between max power and max torque from specification?

New Focus:
Max power ps/rpm - 170/6500
max torque nm/rpm - 202/4550

TDCi:
Max power ps/rpm - 134/4000
Max torque nm/rpm - 320/2000

i did some research, learn that power=torque*rpm/5252

and i learn that torque is needed for pulling strength
power is the "thing" generated by torque at the specific rpm.

so heres come the problem.. confuse lea.. means power more important? coz torque wanted to generate power.. final thing we need is power?

but i see tru forum all says torque more keng since TDCi has better perfomance?
*
new focus needs to rev to 6500rpm only can get max power.
tdci only needs to rev to 4000 to get max power.

new focus only give you 202nm torque when you floor it to 4550rpm, so you need power you need to tekan it for pickup loh.

tdci can give you everything at 2000rpm which is almost instant.
you won't break your neck but after initial gear engagement it kicks you back to the seat like a mule.

some people cannot resist after feeling such torque to drive away with something else.

QUOTE(marvin.lee @ Oct 1 2012, 11:56 PM)
if your manual mode is referring to the S mode, then mine is able to do all 6 gears..

one more thing about paddle shifters, somehow i like it the FoFo way now instead of sticking on to the steering.
you can turn your steering with your right hand and still shift gears, up or down with only your left thumb.
so i can't figure why people doesn't like it this way, probably personal preference anyway...
the usual steering paddle shift, i cant do a gear change if i have the steering upside down.. u get what i mean?
*
yours is the sedan/hatch. i tried on the sedan only allow me to access 1234.
actually you can unless you talking about those paddle shifters on the steering wheel part that spins around.
if it is a fix point like signal stalks then shouldn't be an issue.

i too think its weird.
i'd take the normal gated -+ or paddle shifts over a peanut size button.

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Oct 2 2012, 05:46 PM)
Nah. I too quite like the Jetta actually. If it had come with a larger interior and a tad lower pricing, i might have gone for that. But i didnt feel that a RM 156K (OTR) price tag is justification even with the TSI and 7 speed gb.
*
went to vw yesterday.
my very big size friend at the driver seat and put to his comfortable seating position i'm squished in a golf but still lotsa space in the jetta. i might be wrong but its interior space is quite near d segment.

QUOTE(terdit @ Oct 2 2012, 08:26 PM)
there are big different when opening and closing the sunroof. which means with the sunroof closed, the NVH is good.
btw i think u should choose the plus or non-plus from other view instead of the sunroof.
for example :
- do you think BLIS is a good features and would like to have it on your car ( if u are taking sedan )
- is Auto park, active city stop, HID, cruise control, auto dimm rear view mirror... do you need those?
- front parking sensor, which i feel is nice to have. but not sure do u feel that too
- curtain airbag

above is those that have on + version compare to non +
hope that help

looks like the sedan has everything.
is it me or the previous hatch looks nicer at the rear?

Unfortunetly , my car still not ready, still waiting for wire hardness.WTF  vmad.gif  wasting my time .
btw , I had a chance to go inside the workshop and saw one new focus stranded  ,with front seat and the dashboard been taken off. Havent a chance to ask why

tdci got problem?
dun scare me sweat.gif

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Oct 3 2012, 11:56 AM)
Hence why i think the loudness of the engine should be properly measured and not be confused with good NVH. Either way, engine refinement is only 1 criteria amongst others. I would think safety should be paramount for everybody in choosing their rides not resale value or cost of periodic maintenance.  biggrin.gif
*
for me everything has to be considered.
if i only considered safety only i'd go for volvo's or renault's.

i also a bit curious. from the paper, it have the same engine, same cc, same Compression ratio...
even the max power and torque also same
so how to say is "sport tuning" ?

i ask jln ipoh Auto Connexion SA regarding this, his answer is kind of : Sport tuning will drag longer only change gear, that's y will more powerful.  rolleyes.gif

Actually i also dare not ask for test drive on the ST  sweat.gif

looks like it just have a sports tuned suspension.
nothing says anything about engine being tuned.
i guess they have to do something about it (suspension) as hatches usually come with torsion beam not multilink.

honestly, i dont feel Auto Connexion will bring in fiesta with ecoboost, at least wont so soon.

very good explanation.
But 1.0 shd get less tax, eventually shd cost less than the current lower spec at rm115K. What impressive is the 170 N·m  from 1,300–4,500 rpm and 200 N·m on overboost gonna make driving addictive! Not forgetting the 1.0 could be as frugal as K-car.

they just lower the equipment levels on the vios to make it cheaper and sell more because every uncle will buy for himself/family becoz its a toyota!

This is where you are wrong. The ST is tuned everything. The general focus ecoboost comes in 1.6 L Ecoboost. I

Mondeo/ST uses the 2 liter ecoboost only diff is ST is tuned slightly higher and a manual. Mondeo pushes out 240PS whilst the ST 250 PS.

u r correct.
although the ST uses essentially the same block from the Mondeo its not an engine swap only.
intake and exhaust is new.
and of course the ecu is tuned for performance while mondeo is for fetching fat bosses.

did you know that - the 2.0 ecoboost lump is essentially just one cylinder short of the one in the 2.5 turbo xr5?
