QUOTE(ad1gjm @ Jun 8 2013, 01:43 PM) Stoker Score : 3/5 review : strange, beautiful, horrifying and at times awkward film. It's not an easy film to watch, or indeed to get in to. The pacing of the film is slow and will try some people's patience. That's not to say you shouldn't give it a chance though just watched it. i'll give it a 2/5. try this metro 2013, good. but make sure u have eng subs as it is a russian film. kind of like stallone's "daylight" minus the heroism. very disappointed with phantom. story is somewhat a mix of hunt for red october and crimson tide. a star studded cast with ed harris, david dukovny and william fichtner, yet the suspense and drama is so weak. duchovny shudn't have played the villain with his baby face. still, if you are a cold war-submarine thriller fan, it's still a watchable 2 hrs. it still has that "torpedo in the water, launch countermeasures, brace for impact". QUOTE(Mov_freak @ Jun 28 2013, 11:26 PM) Olympus Has Fallen (2013)Calling this movie a piece of turd is an insult to turd... Avoid at ALL cost... You've been warn kiddies. YOU'VE BEEN WARN.... My Two Sen agree... disappointing. same old stale story. other than the scenes with the gunship firing and the sentry guns blasting away at the choppers, no awe. more interesting watching diehard or under siege!

QUOTE(Mov_freak @ Jun 29 2013, 11:53 PM) Battle Los Angeles (4K Remaster) (2011) i find this one ok, not too bad. of all recent alien invasion movies, i like battleship best. drug war, a chinese crime thriller, is watchable. a johnnie to film starring louis koo and sun honglei plus all the usual familiar "gangster" faces in hongkong-china showbiz. syfy fans, this is one you gotta watch. i dun mean the action-thriller-alien flicks but serious sy-syfy as in arthur c clarke's 2001 a space odyssey and 2010 odyssey 2. europa report is about humans landing on europa, an icy moon of jupiter looking for et life. while there must be a lot of cgi used, i think much of that is based on photos sent back from spacecrafts like pioneer, voyager and new horizons. think it is an independent european film; daniel wu is in the show. as europa holds the best prospects of et life in the whole solar system, this project will probably become a reality in the next 100 years. it's been syfy week for me... after watching europa report which i thought was very good, i looked up some lists for "top syfy movies". i have watched most of them but missed a a few. got hold of them and found... serenity 2005 has good ratings but is poor in my view. more like a usual hollywood cowboy flick. moon 2009 is light but have some eerily funny moments. watchable. sunshine 2007 is a british film (michelle yeoh in it), good enough to be recommended. just i dun like the last part with a slasher twist. could have had a better ending.

gi joe retaliation is good fun, highly entertaining but not a show u will remember much. crap story as expected but lots of explosions and swords. bruce willis, like in diehard 5 puts on a "i'm tired" face. beside the guns and missiles, there is a fair amount of shinobi and insect bombs, almost like naruto shippuuden!

QUOTE(Mov_freak @ Jul 17 2013, 10:07 AM) Sharing is caring right! There are actually two version Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection (14 of Alfred Hitchcock movies) Psycho 50th Anniversary Edition I've just watched the Psycho 50th Anniversary Edition. Watch the opening scene and tell me that hasn't been copied to DEATH by many MANY directors every since!! No one and I mean NO ONE ever did a shot like THAT before (Psycho)!! gud, now u spurred me to watch it. i haven't watch this psycho 1960 but have just finished with the current tv series season 1 bates motel - the latest one loosely based on psycho. norman bates the psycho! anyone like old westerns? just re-watched clint eastwood's the good, the bad and the ugly. still liking it. a fistful of dollars and for a few dollars more are next! lastly, any ghost in the shell fans here? if you enjoyed the 3 movie serial, take note the the 1st of 4 in a new ova series called ghost in the shell: arise is out. this one i like because of the vision in cyborg syfy way before anybody else. even matrix copied the ideas... this is one film i'll recommend. forget all the syfy, thrillers, pyschos, terrrorism, etc. a feng xiaogang 2010 film about life and and the appreciation for life (and death), the tangshan earthquake of 1976 that killed 240,000 people and the sichuan earthquake 2008 that killed 69,000. i was in sichuan in 2007. chen daoming gets an award, rotten tomatoes give it 90% rating. if u missed, get it, watch it. warning - can be a tear jerker. note: title is aftershock 2010. aftershock 2012 is another film about the chilean earthquake. QUOTE(peter32 @ Jul 20 2013, 08:10 PM) Nothing about movie loving or what, but among all these three films (airport- can't remember much, since I watched it in 1970's, towering inferno and earthquake), only the towering inferno impressed me the most, partly because of the shock of some scenes, the great acting of some, and the soundtracks. Among all thing, I still remember about the scene where bodies flow out with a lift full of water when the lift door opened. Nonetheless its one of the cinematic classics. the 3 old disaster movies, i remember somewhat. they were impressive during their time but no longer. much to do with technology special effects. e.g. poseidon 2006 with josh lucas n kurt russell and is much better than poseidon adventure 1972 with gene hackman.

OH MY GOSH!!!! err... i wonder how the extras will add to the entertainment as the story is not as good as lotr... QUOTE(ivanchingkl @ Jul 24 2013, 05:28 PM) Oblivion !!! Like Tom Cruise  hmm.... while i am both a cruise and syfy fan, i'll give it a 3 of 5 only. the script is not very well written but compensated by the excellent visual effects and techy touches. some scenes don't give the awe anymore as similar ones have been seen in minority report and independence day. man of tai chi is keeanu reeves' 1st directored film. starring himself, tiger chen hu and a few familiar hongkong actors, it's a rather crude martial arts film. story is rather weak but the fight scenes are very good, as you can expect from action man yuen wo-ping and his protege tiger chen. well, reeves doesn't seem to have improved on his kungfu since the matrix! still, a fairly entertaining film to watch. perhaps reeves will come up with a better product in the near future. this great gatsby is a remake of a remake of a remake of fitzgerald's novel... about class, dreams and attitudes in 1920s booming new york. i never liked the story or movie much but this new version is quite good, thanks to fine performances by leonardo dicaprio (titanic, inception) and tobey mcguire (spiderman123). the settings, costumes and colors will probably win an oscar for cinematography! iceman is a low budget film but a riveting true story of a hitman who supposed killed 100 people:

QUOTE(lussen @ Aug 17 2013, 10:37 PM) the berlin file 1st korean movie i ve seen great action movie n sound berlin file will probably have a sequel! was pleased to see the cop character back in an action blockbuster since "shiri (swiri)", a 1999 korean thriller. if you are into tv series, check out "iris" and "athena goddess of war" - these are good korean productions, much like berlin file. "the thieves 2012" is quite a good heist-crime thriller. QUOTE(lussen @ Aug 18 2013, 08:34 PM) rerouni kenshin best japan samurai movie good sound. yes, this one is v good! somehow, i find more good korean stuff than japanese stuff these days...

QUOTE(low98944 @ Aug 18 2013, 09:09 PM) Mud [Blu-ray] (2012)Now I know why this movie scored quite high mark in both critics and viewers yet box office is quite disappointed. Acting is good but storyline is somehow narrow to focus on adventure of two young boys. i had the same feeling... such shows are done well from the acting perspective but the theme and scope appeal to a very limited audience. so, poor ticket sales!

QUOTE(zephyryj @ Aug 22 2013, 12:20 PM) i feel Kill bill is not so interesting compared to Inglorious Basterds & Pulp Fiction ! i like all of them! kill bill is more action-martial arts, liked the white eyebrow eagle gordon liu, that innocent looking japanese teen girl cold killer and sonny chiba's katana cum sashimi! inglorious is killingly smooth... but pulp is my fav - i can watch and listen to samuel jackson's "miracle" and chris walken's "watch-in-the-ass" talk again and again, so funny!
