budget of usd20mil in 2013 vs usd10mil in 1973, i find conjuring lacking due to either a low budget or purposedly made to be less horrifying.
still, if u like exorcist 1973, conjuring 2013 is ok, but will probably not meet yr expectations.

What 1080p Movie did You Watch Today?, Its supposed to be a midnite...

the conjuring 2013... kind of a remake of exorcist 1973, esp the last 20 mins.

QUOTE(klimal @ Oct 11 2013, 04:37 PM) Pacific Rim is another Transformer movie with Ultraman monsters on steroids. yep, most will relate pac rim to transformers.Story line sucks and the dialogue is even worse but the bass is immense. but actually, pac rim's idea of humans piloting a giant robot fighting aliens in an apocalyptic war has been on the screen since the mid 90s via the japanese anime series/movies called evangelion or eva. i watch a fair amount of jap anime and find them extremely stimulating. more interestingly, hollywood will sooner or later make blockbusters out of them. anyone interested, i recommend ghost in the shell (steven spielberg bought the rights, still waiting on him to make a movie), deathnote (japanese movies made but will take hollywood to really bring this one out) and... naruto shippudden, a martial arts/ninja fantasy epic - this one better china/hongkong movie makers do it! white house down is a flop, imo. if olympus has fallen is poor, this one is just as poor if not a little worse.
but as roland emmerich always deliver, there is no lack of action - bullets, grenades, rattling guns, stingers, blackhawks, raptors, air force one - all of it. jamie foxx didn't fit well into the character in this show and veteran james woods couldn't help much. still, can have a blast with it. enjoy! while waiting for man of steel, i tot should give this superman2 a watch after decades! this is supposedly a diff 2006 version from the original theatrical of 1978.
well, it is a little diff with more of marlon brando as jor-el and some extras, but is very much what i saw decades ago. still, it's quite good for its time. enjoyed it. This post has been edited by AVFAN: Oct 12 2013, 05:57 PM |

QUOTE(peter32 @ Oct 13 2013, 09:41 AM) superman2 apparently had production complications - 2 directors. richard donner, original director had to hand over to richard lester who re-shot half the movie.this version supposedly has most of the film shot from diff angles, additional footage by richard donner who says, "what it shud have been". story is the same, but i do see many of the scenes are a little different. also, remastered, improved video. wud be worth watching if u liked superman2 (i like this one most from the whole lot) and like to rewatch! |

QUOTE(sherr127 @ Oct 22 2013, 03:23 PM) Already use media player(currently pioneer 450)for 2 years with no problem,i"m a bit particular about sq and aq..used to buy bluray disc ori or not almost everyday bcos like u i"m crazy about movie...any language will do. pioneer... u mean dvd player with usb input? if so, this way, you get reasonable video and audio but not the best. i have a pioneer like that too but use only for smaller mkv and mp4 files incl tv series. But i"m not downloading myself bcos of the poor connection in my area,so particularly i get my movie from hdworld.biz, already done a lot of test..no different with the ori bluray disc.. like movfreak was alluding to, playback 40-50gb bdmv files on a media player like ac ryan is this one, i like, very much. nice rework of superman and superman2. superman return looks pale compared to man of steel. besides russell crowe (jor-el) and michael shannon (zod), nice to see old faces kevin costner, diane lane and lawrence fishburne in there. great job from zack synder who's going to do batman vs superman! never a dull moment for 140mins. soundtrack is excellent. enjoy with bdmv dtshdma! |

QUOTE(sherr127 @ Oct 22 2013, 08:56 PM) Its bluray player bro .. ah yes, of course... via usb, dvd players can only play mp3 and avi files; bd players can play more formats but most can't read iso, flac, rmvb, etc.http://www.whathifi.com/review/pioneer-bdp-450 Also got oppo 103 but cant read iso file and most bdmv file, waiting for jailbreak.. i hv one of those pioneer bdp's but can't remember the model. i think oppo103 is also a bd player, not a media player. media players will read everything, incl those cheap china brands. current models will handle dtshdma and dolbytruehd audio and even 3d video; older models with old chips can't. you should check them out, much better in all ways since they are meant to handle media files only. not that costly, anything rm200-1000 depending on brand. only thing is if you are big on it, you'll be keeping lots of hdds. i won't be surprised some people here have 10-20tb of storage!! QUOTE(capoi @ Oct 23 2013, 12:08 AM) I want to try to play bd iso file. Just can't do that yet because my Hdd not big enough. Most of movie just download a 720p mkv file. Play it on my ac ryan pohd2. Really curious the different between mkv and actual bluray quality on my 50" plasma. Just want to compare PQ only because I can't enjoy a true hd dts yet. My htib just can support ac3 through optical. if u hv the pohd2 and play only mkv 720p, u r missing a lot!u must hv tried 1080p mkv on the 50 inch tv. great video, right? bdmv/iso files will come out a little better than 1080p mkv for video, but the big diff is in the audio if we're comparing dtshdma vs dts with a 5.1 or 7.1 full bdmv/iso files 40-50gb each are as good as bd discs, at least to me. the diff is probably imaginary... |

QUOTE(Mov_freak @ Oct 23 2013, 12:55 PM) One other point I would like to make is all ACTION in this movie is actually CGI... so the what is a practical shot and what is CGI is really REALLY blurred!! Very impressive work indeed. indeed, the cgi is obvious and abundant. but nicely done, so it's very enjoyable! Another peeve that I have about this movie is the last scene between Superman and the American army, that really ruffles my feathers... that part with the general and tanks facing the kryptonians is disturbing... reminds me of the scene in matrix revolutions where human-robot guns face a zillion sentinels about to breach the temple - a hopless situation. incidentally, it is harry lennix who played the general again! I am actually very shock with how badly it was translated to the movie (with Ben Affleck) never read the book but i actually like phantoms the movie. despite those days, vcds only! don't quite remember ben affleck but remember well peter o'toole in the show. |

i'm more of an x-files cum fringe person but stories and movies about ghosts, restless spirits.... fine with me!
horrific ghost and demons.... there is hollywood (exorcist, others, changeling, conjuring), chinese (eye, eye2, double vision), thai (nang-nak, shutter) and there is korean... killer toon is a 2013 korean crime-horror-ghost tale. i like the story. the scary part only comes in if you watch on large screen and full blast dts 5.1. so, not to be scared yet enjoy the movie, watch it on small screen and turn down the volume. (a tip - you need eng subs to watch this) ![]() |

QUOTE(Mov_freak @ Oct 27 2013, 10:09 PM) I forgot Eric Stoltz was in The Fly II (1989)... He is always on a verge of making it big, but never does... I'm sorry for not making my reference more clearly. I was actually referring to the fact that Robert Zemeckis & Steven Spielberg first offered the role of Marty McFly (Back To the Future) to Michael J. Fox and he actually turned it down because of schedule conflict with his Family Ties shoot. They hired Eric Stoltz, and actually shot two weeks worth of stuff with Eric, but Steven was still unhappy with him as Marty McFly. So he approached Michael again, and Production of Family Ties moved things around, so that Michael could do Back To The Future. With that, Eric Stoltz was fired from the movie... They then reshoot what they had done with Eric with Michael as Marty McFly... As i said, always on the verge but never managing to... i did not like back to future serial, so i dun remember! |
