Hi people~ Been thinking a question about the A5+ recently. Is it worth it to buy the speakers and to use in a living room for tv? I come to notice it does gives good sound in the audition but the thing is the room is kinda empty so i suppose the sound will be more focus. If i am to bring it home and play movie, should it sound as good as in hifi music? Also about in future with additional speakers with an amp, will it work that time?

Audio Engine A5+ can go really deep and it has adequate power to push up to 8' x 12' room. But if for movies and if you wanna go deeper, match the S8 subwoofer smile.gif

And since it is an active speakers, it can't be added to an amplifier

soundstick cannot beat a5.. it just sounded so thin, the vocal is pretty hopeless. Better save more for other speaker. a5+ 1 of the best for it's price.

Please ignore the speakers setting, I know it's a bad setting but it's temporary. Will get a proper speaker stand and replace the position of my book shelf with that. Anyway, I don't get it when people complained bout the lack of bass as for me, the bass coming out from the speaker are adequate enough, if not at times can be a bit overwhelming. I did get the whole set (DAC + S8 Sub), but most of the time I didn't turn the sub on (if I do, I only set it to like 1/10 of its volume) as it is too much for my ears to handle. But again, I'm not really a bass fan and most of the time I listen to music (.flac / 320kb mp3s) and occasionally some movies. Even when I listen to my analogue set, I always set my Marantz to 'Source Direct'. tongue.gif

As for first impression, these speaker sounded really good in the audition room but when I plugged in mine fresh out of the box, the bass (as the bass from the speaker not the sub) is a bit boomy to my liking, and on certain songs, murky. Audioengine suggest at least 30-50 hours burn in, but I'll stick with my 200 hours. Will come back with results after the burn-in and as soon as I figure out the speaker's positioning (this speaker needs a really good position, especially in a small room like mine). But all in all, I can say it's a really good speaker. Worth every cents spent! Go frigging get it! biggrin.gif

I'm well aware of that. Like I mentioned earlier, it's just a temporary set up for the break-in period. Will get a proper stand and put it on side of the table where currently my book shelf resides biggrin.gif

I didn't audition the AktiMate Mini but have a chance to test the AktiMate Micro. To be frank, I adore the AktiMate Micro more than the Audioengine. It's really good with vocal and the mid-range is lively and super sweet. The only reason why I opted out with the Audioengine is because it sounds better on the type of music I listen to the most. I did bring my benchmark CDs (The S.I.G.I.T - Hertz Dyslexia EP / Terrorizer - World Downfall / Orchid - Capricorn) to audition both speakers and found that Audioengine surpass the AktiMate Micro when it comes to agility, speed, consistency and details smile.gif

Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my pc audio to another level.

Currently been using logitech's speakers 5.1 for a very long time, I think it's time to toss out the bulkiness of these speakers and get something good for my room space. Just recently bought a 42" LG TV which is connected to my pc O_O

Any suggestion for a budget friendly speaker? is A2 the best choice? or A2+ would be better? thanks!
