I had the same problem with my A5.

Still using the original toroid and crossover board.

No volume control for now, but I have a DAC-AMP so not a problem for me.

Nope, still an active speaker, as the amp is in the speaker. biggrin.gif
For the amp that I'm using, I connect the output of the amp to the crossover board of the speaker. I cut the crossover board from the original amp board.
As for the input, I use the top auxiliary connector to the new amp.
Unfortunately I did not take any pictures of my amp replacement. blush.gif
But you could refer to this thread for the general idea.

ok thanks for the info bro..appreciate it..at least i can look at the amp area very closely...my 1st tot is the other part of the board (i think the small dac board)....if i have the time, i'm thinking of replacing all the ics/caps (tda7294,ka7805 and etc) if that will do any good..LOL

I think that's the preamp board. It could be it that causes the problem. I cant find other 3rd party that will fit in the speaker.

Hey guys. Tan here. Been an Audioengine user for quite a number of years. Anyone knows a place to repair the S8 subwoofer? Mine is still powered but no longer works. All I get is a faint buzz type thumping in tune to the music.
