Can anyone suggest a good place to learn how to trade in forex? I am interested in a guided training course and not some website that you can find online.

Is this a good place to learn?

sounds like self promotion, what's wrong with online website ? They may be not prefect but at least they are independent. smile.gif

Aiya, where got ppl use robot before playing live?(Maybe got some la, maybe poks)
Usually is demo>live>robot.
Do your research on which broker to make account with. There are some info on brokers on the first few pages.
Things you must know about brokers is
1. Spread - Difference between buy/sell price. This is the comission broker makes
2. Speed - The lag between the time you click for order and the time your order is executed. Very important if you are a scrap trader.
3. Pairs - Some brokers like AvaTrader offers commodities and over a hundred different pairs of currency. HotForex only offer forex pairs. So if you want to trade gold, some offer gold but some do not.
4. Leverage - HotForex offers up to 1000x leverage. Leverage is like how many times more profit you can make. Beware, leverage could cause your account to go into -ve region.

Bout the time, I use Google sidebar. Then download OANDA FxMarketHours. So no matter where you are in the world, you can know what time it opens.

And please do your research before coming back. Sifu-sifu dont like if you come back empty handed. Worse is empty headed.

actually robot should be proven in demo before bringing life ... else no point using that robot.

Oanda has about 48% success rate while others are only 20-30%, I read they also has the largest users base but I never heard of them, does anyone here know Oanda ?

1. Create a trading plan.
2. Demo it for a few months.
3. Restructure your trading plan if needed.
4. Go live with small lots.

Trading is a lonely journey. Don't rush it. wub.gif

when i 1st started, my 1st week of trading has been very successful. i still didn't know you can short. i haven't read babypips or any website. i only download client, try demo, and go live in 1 day.

2nd week on, everything goes downhill. wiped out in 1 month. then i topup. before i trade live again, i scour the internet for tips, strategy, robot. you name it. i even bought fapturbo (LOL!!!) and try a lot (literally) of robot. then i return to manual trading. 4H, 1H, M5, tried all TF, still fail.

after that i continue my search. dig more websites and strategies. i even try naked trading, support resistance technique, you name it. i've probably tried all the famous one. still fail.

after all those wasted money and time, i finally found where my mistake is. i was overtrading. there's nothing wrong with the strategy. every one of them are doing good. PEBKAC. after i sort out my patience and stay out of market when i m unsure of the direction, my life got better. my trading is still so-so. but life definitely is better.

my points is:-
1 - get a good strategy.
2 - patience. do not overtrade at all.
3 - use good money management.

sikit sikit lama lama jadi bukit. this is not quick rich scheme. use compounding magic if you plan to trade full time to build your capital. if you just want to make side income, then can withdraw every week. hehe. everyday even if you make enough profit smile.gif

p/s: sorry for the wall of text. just want to share my experience. hope someone can make good use of it.

just back from cuti2...
i sure missed a lot...
now gotta read a lot...

mr scar.... never tot you'll go that far blink.gif
i agree on the over trade thing... i monitor the 6 main pairs, 7 including gold (except jpy)... but will only make 2 trades at one time...
and i take only that suit my requirements..
and always WAIT for confirmation... (which i seldom do biggrin.gif )

1.) Not all the gap to be filled/closed
2.) Some gap is only to be filled/closed by 50% but not 100%.
