if im not wrong, MSI GE620 does not support Optimus. I think it's the same with the DX version

MSI makes really solid laptops for a great price. I'm not sure if anyone remembers the GX420. It was like one of the most powerful 14" of its time. A Core 2 Duo P8400 with an Nvidia 9600GT for RM4k, specs that were mostly found in 15-16" gaming laptops.

Bleh... the GDDR5 version. In terms of raw power where memory is not really a concern, the GDDR3 one is still more powerful due to the increase number of stream processors and memory bandwidth.

hmmmm..very hard to make decision btw asus,hp n this T.T ~but wat i can say is apart from a better speaker(bigger space for reverb)...basically the Sonic Master is just a software on top of realtek soundcard..
DV6 does a better job here cause the beats system is a whole new soundcard wonder,how is the audio for MSI? it is THX certified isn't it? |

Sager NP5165 with GT555m type B2 is 40% increase from GT540m with 96SP/128bit. well GT555m type A is 96SP/128bit also. just higher clocked and 10-20% only? damn Nvidia.. screwing users and the market with all these variants.. or should I blame the laptop manufacturers instead? |

hmm. But 10-20% is quite a big gap from the type A and type B.

Yup.. Y570 using the most crippled GT555M. A user with i5 Y570 benchmarked his GT555M and its on par with GT550M with i7.
I've said before if the screen is 1080P or at least 900P like M14X, at RM2,999 this will be one to get over DV6. |

anyway, if u wanna help microsoft to solve it, u can ask them to disable the parental and internet query to recieve update about each game you have in the game explorer, and you should see tremendous improvement in Game Explorer... |

N45SF and GE620DX both use the same GT555M. The crippled Type B2 with 128-bit instead of the full 192-bit.

Basically.. Alienware M14x and Dell XPS 17 is using the best GT555m out there with 144SP/192bit bus.
This MSI GE620DX and Asus N45/55SF and Sager NP5165 is using GT555m with 144SP/128bit bus. The so called 'crippled' version Lenovo Y570 is using the worst with 96SP/128bit bus. |

its not intel's fault for making such powerful processors,but nvidia and AMD's fault for not not really focussing on mobile graphics.The GT555m is essentially a GT420m overclocked,together with GDDR5 memory(which is not gonna help since its only 96SP)

The unit i taken was actually just arrive here in malaysia, and allocated to IT Fair and lowyat.. the specification was really best on its class
and so far i,m impressed  Specification that i had: Intel Core i7 2630QM / Nvidia GeForce GT555M 2GB DDR3 / 15"6 HD Panel 1366X768 / RAM DDR3 8GB (4X4) / HDD 640GB 7200RPM Originally either to get @ RM 3099 with Goodies in box or 2999 or without.., The predecessor MSI unit the GE620 are equipped w GT540 The whole packaging (unboxing) can be view via Youtube Although it size to my surprise the weight of this thing are actually not very heavy.. but heck i really like the design .. as you can see it pretty slim though  The keyboard have special feature highlighted red WSAD.. for gaming of course.. & about the sound for my conclusion it was a great ( the sound are quite loud- 2 on above keyboard and other 2 at below palmrest - total of 4 SPEAKERS!! & its powered by THX Tru Studio PRO Laptop Side Profile As you can see from the left - there's got power INput - CPU Heat ventilation - HDMI - USB3.0 - USB 3.0 - Mic Input - Sound O/P  -On the right side- Philips DVD-ROM - USB 2.0 - VGA Out - Lan Input  -Back- -Batteries- no I/P or O/P  One of the special thing about this model at the bottom of the laptop you have 1 Door to access all critical components CPU/RAM/HDD so upgrade or maintenance is quite easy though...- like clean dust on the fan.. but for new owner got to be careful, to avoid unnecessary damage to your laptop (got to careful with the stickers also) as MSI will give you 2 YEARS International Warranty.. and 1 year shops warranty- as me i had to go register on MSI online first  -SYSTEM BENCHMARK AND RATING As to this laptop specification i7 with GT555M i had include several early tests..including Windows rating ( other benchs will include later )   Still many thing need to be tweak a bit on my new laptop.. The GeForce GT 555M that comes with Nx5 series is faster. It has 10.8 G/pixel fillrate, 675MHz GPU, 900MHz memory and 1350MHz shader while GE620DX's 10.4, 650, 900, 1300...

i don't see any bad design on chasis, so far so good 4 me now, yeah guys i try gaming straight for 2 hr, suprisingly just hot a little.. only when you put your hand on the ventilation you can feel the cpu fan kicked in warm air on full throtle. =playing price of persia

surprisingly, Aida64 and HW Monitor registeres the different temperature for CPU temp.
on Aida, it registers 29 degrees while HWMonitor does 56 degress. I wished they'd used copper for the heatsink and having some software being able to control the fan speed. Added on August 25, 2011, 7:34 pmoverall experience for me on this laptop, design could have been better. very simplistic and minimalistic gaming laptop design. they could add more USB ports. backlit keyboard would be awesome but I guess its too much to ask? its has 4 speakers, additional front left and right. Touchpad is kind of a pain.. the surface is sensitive to touch but scrolling is a abit of a pain. Must turn off touchpad when typing to avoid cursor jumping. Came loaded with some bloatwares. Hdd is pretty slow to my liking.. Probably due to the bloatwares. S-bar is needed for FN keys to function and i personally find it annoying. Boot time is increased thanks to some softwares. But I manage to reduce to 48s only.. I was told warranty would be voided if I replace my own HDD.. So I dare not open up the backpanel yet.. overall, its the best bang buck laptop out there and if it came in fullHD, it would be a perfect budget decent gamer's laptop. Well not all Nvidia cards I believe hehe.. My crippled 9600M GT Max 62c lol with 30% overclock well it's crippled can't compared
