the prob is in my view,, aqua is the most technical in most midfielder we get.. he even has more creativity than gerrard.. thus havin him in a squad is a bonus especially against defensive minded team..

see against arsenal in last game for example.. at 1st half, whole team unable to break against arsenal defence back line who are packed with inexperienced player.. tis showed how lacks of quality the team was.. glad to hav suarez n meireless at last minute who luckily break their fortress..

Yea I know...I wish he stay too. But unfortunately he has repeatedly mentioned that he prefers to stay in Italy...homesick maybe? And Milan is coming up with their offers, as confirmed by Berlusconi. That's why Kenny is not naming Aquilani on the bench at all, as he probably believes Aquilani wants out. Most Italian players would love to play for Milan anyways...

It's not for us or Kenny to decide to keep him now, it seems like it's himself who wants out. hmm.gif

Anyways we already have decent cover, though he's creativity and movement can work for us...just wish him good luck in Milan then. sad.gif

Read Milan wants him but not willing to pay >6mil Euro.
With this kinda price, might as well keep him till contract expire since doesn't generate much income & we got another creative outlet

It isn't just his selling price. I believe we're trying to trim our wage bill. Not sure how much he's on but Fiorentina were unwilling to match his demands which leads me to believe, it's quite a fair bit.

I think they trying to minimize the price as they are very confident that Aquilani prefers to play in Italy lol...but oh well, lets see how this plays out. I don't mind playing him against teams that park buses for their defence. And maybe convince him to stay along the way. tongue.gif

Definately looking forward to the next match. Apparently Kenny Dalglish says that Suarez and Meireles was on the bench last week because he don't want to rush them back due to fatigue and just recover from injury....though they took advantage and look sharp against a tired and demotivated Arsenal side.

Good to see Enrique, Downing, Adam, and Henderson settling well so far...though they did have one or two loose passes, but that will improve after playing together more often. Most importantly no one is injured and 3 points in the bag for us! smile.gif

it was a 'luck' 3 points. (i'll still take it regardless how it was claimed).

Against a team thats quite depleted (sorry arsenal but almost every feels the is the weakest arsenal in years, granted the injuries n lack of personel)

I'm not so critical of KD's tactics on the starting lineup with carroll leading which on a hindsight using carroll first meant a at your toes arsenal, then shifting tactics (aided by the red card) to overun arsenal.

I hope aqualani stays, there are still much more games ahead & against the other big guns, his vision is valuable.

On why the insistance on more english players first? perhaps just perhaps there is some truth our spaniard gaffer felt about...  (shrug)  whistling.gif

Luck is very important in football =)
The ball is round, both teams can win the game..
Deflections, own goals, anything, you named it, luck is something liverpool lack of last few seasons..

Read somewhere its ard 80k/week. Thats ard 4mil/yr.
But to sell him at 4mil GBP made no sense even after taking his pay into account. To be honest, he's nvr given a chance to show what he can do, he did show glimpse of brilliance to open up defences in the short time he's on the field. So to buy someone @ 18mil & sell him off @4mil without him given proper chance is smack of foolish deal.
Esp 1 year down the road when we're crying out loud for playmaker to open up defences & spend another 20 mil for another playmaker. AA prime is to come btw.
All said, I'm against selling him at such a low ball price. Milan is just squeezing to milk us dry.

Added on August 22, 2011, 5:13 pmTo trim wage, need not look further than Cole at ard 110k or Poulsen @ ard 60k, even Ngog rumoured to be on 40k doh.gif

Disclaimer: no hard evidence on their exact pay, just speculation which normally is almost there.

Don't get me wrong. Like most supporters, I'd prefer Aqua to stay.

Having said that, if you want to sell a player for a better price then it make sense to play him and let him display his skills for prospective buyers to see. Instead of 'haggling' with the likes of Milan, KD should let Aqua show off his skills on the pitch and then tell Milan (or whoever): did you see that? now give me 20m of buzz off..!

Hopefully, after Aqua turn in a few motm performances, KD will say : he's not going anywhere .. just buzz off!

Maybe for someone young but we're talking about an established international here not 1 cap wonder. The only problem he has is the injury record which he dispelled with his stint at the Old Lady last season.
Moreover KD doesn't see him as 1st team player so why would he bother to alter his preference to suit someone that the club is looking to flog off? Afterall its Commolli or the mgt problem not his. This is not some Footie mgt game to play a player to enhance his value dramatically.
We actually got our hand tied by spending heavily & not clearing the deadwoods earlier, hence everyone now knew we're desperate to offload players which result in the rumored Milan absurd bid.

I concur. Even if we view both Cole and aqualani on level terms at the begining of preseason, Cole hasn't done much to impress:(

Might backfire though... just take a look at Uncle Poulsen. No matter how many sticks the fans giving him, he is still the same uncle poulsen! laugh.gif

getting doyle for 10m pound (rather keep ngog) and selling aquilani for less than that is plain stupid... We are not 'supermarket', aquilani is not in last year of his contract... at least 14m pound or gtfo, milan

no way I am seeing Dirk Kuyt leaving us , we still need his energy and experience.Never complaint or felt tired when he is on the field.

he is very nice to fans and watching his celebrate his goal against Malaysia as it was an important goal and being the only liverpool player that wave to the fans when they are leaving the stadium.
