Don't think it's down to Sammy Lee. Perhaps we expect too much of Flanagan, Kelly and Robinson even though Flano and Kelly played really well. I could still see their potential at Bkt Jalil but they have yet to reach a high level of consistency.
We were also missing senior defenders in last nite's game although one guy's seniority may really be working against him more and more,..and I'm referring to our vice-captain. Of course, he is one of the pillars but he really is slowing down and making more mistakes.
Let's see how the team does in Turkey and Norway. I'm still optimistic but I certainly don't envy Dalglish's task ahead.

Every player wants to play in the first 11 and that includes Aqua. Towards the end of last season, I remember KD saying words to the effect that he would like to have Aqua back with the Reds.
Looking at the way he played and contributed in the pre-season, I don't think KD wants to lose Aqua.
Lets just hope that Aquilani features in the opening few games, does well and becomes convinced that he has a future playing for Liverpool in the EPL!

If I am Henry, I'll be quite anxiously looking at the money being spent as well as the escalating wage bill. Afterall, there are only 3 competitions for us this season - how big a squad do we need?
Quality of selection is much more important than simply buying every player hyped up by their agents as being the next big star..
I believe one reason why KD brought Steve Clark in is to cultivate the existing young players. Instead of buying Enrique or another CB, I am of the opinion that we should cultivate Danny Wilson, Martin Kelly, Jon Flanagan and Jack Robinson. They are really decent youngsters..

Aqua would at least make the bench if not for the midweek game. KD really mean business to start Suarez from the go..
This is a strong team. For me the only worry is central defence but if they have ironed out their problems (based on the Valencia game) then we can look forward to a bright start.

There must have been many posts about the game already and many opinions expressed already. Sorry if I am repeating stuff but i just need to express my own opinions and thoughts.
KD has been rather unorthodox - no doubt he really means business, but very few managers will start a match with 4 new boys in key positions and two players who recently returned from a hectic summer programme. Both Lucas and Suarez, as well as Enrique also missed pre-season and I think this has somewhat of an effect.
Of course if the penalty and Downing's superb attempt had gone in, we would all be singing praises of KD and the team.
Where individual players are concerned, I think far too much has been expected of Henderson. He seemed reluctant to play and repeated passed backwards, much to our frustration. Too much was also expected of Flanagan after his superb few games last season and his mistake of leaving Larrson totally unmarked turned out to be fatal.
It's early days, but it's painful to draw a home game. On the other hand, it's a terrible reminder to KD that money cannot buy success and a disappointment for us to wake up to harsh reality.

One thing I felt very disappointed by last night was what I would call the 'bad habit' of passing the ball to the 'best player' - not sure if it's out of respect for the 'best player' or being afraid to take responsibility.
I'm referring to the many times when the ball was passed to Suarez unnecessarily, and also when Suarez was not even in a good position. This 'bad habit' is seen most often when Gerrard is playing. The ball will be passed to him whether or not he's in good form.
KD has to stop this and get the others to take ownership.

Great to get a win over Arsenal at the Emirates and great to collect our first 3 points of the season.
For me that's where the "great" stops. By the look on his face, I don't think KD is satisfied either. Put it simply, I think we didn't play well.
The Positives : - Lucas getting back into groove - Downing's consistent skills - Martin Kelly's back and solid
The Negatives : - Henderson : what?! - Adam : agree with most people that he's slow - team-work is still not good enough - defence is not that steady despite the clean sheet - Downing's skillful runs and crosses often wasted
Well..we won! Great!

Don't get me wrong. Like most supporters, I'd prefer Aqua to stay.
Having said that, if you want to sell a player for a better price then it make sense to play him and let him display his skills for prospective buyers to see. Instead of 'haggling' with the likes of Milan, KD should let Aqua show off his skills on the pitch and then tell Milan (or whoever): did you see that? now give me 20m of buzz off..!
Hopefully, after Aqua turn in a few motm performances, KD will say : he's not going anywhere .. just buzz off!

Sad to see Soto go. Glad we caught a glimpse of him playing in the flesh here in KL. Wish we had him a couple of seasons earlier. He did a terrific job holding up our defence during a short spell last season, and he could score too - thanks Soto and all the best!
On a more exciting note (sorry if this was already mentioned earlier today), there's talk that Liverpool is trying to bring back Craig Bellamy. I've always felt that he could have contributed much more when he was with the Reds. He will provide a good option to KD's attacking plans.

Great to get past this round, unlike last season!
Worrying that the goals dried up after Suarez got subbed. To see Suarez starting this game is a bit of a concern already. This kind of 'reliance' reminds me of the way Gerrard was depended on. In fact, Suarez scored one goal and got a hand in the other two!
On the other hand it was good to see Henderson playing with more confidence. I think this young chap could be frightened by the expectations of him in the premier league.
