nothing beats the original bro..
the hackintosh system is not guaranteed to be stable or compatible on all configurations.
its easy if you do it on pc since incompatible parts can be swapped.
for laptops, its hard to find 100% compatible laptop without tweaking here and there to achive compatiblity.
thus for laptop its better to get and MBP instead
*
Agreed +1+1+1

Laptop will have a different experience compared to MBP as Laptop mousepad won't work the same with MBP Trackpad. whistling.gif

As others have suggested, go for the MBA or MBP if you're looking for a notebook. I've two MBPs myself .. and no, I'm not thinking of hackintosh-ing a notebook.. too much hassle and not worth it. With MBA/MBP, I could install VM software to run Win7 if I want to.

my old 2009 i7 1st gen pc (dfi board) now running smooth (it have been 2 months now from the installation) with os x lion 10.7.3 without much hassle. compile my own DSDT, basic kext for build-in soundcard and customize the chameleon.boot.plist including add something valuable on smbios list to look more awesome. smile.gif

Hi guys.. Have been reading up alotsa information on this for the past 2 weeks while I try to 'hackintosh' my desktop.

Tried alotsa methods (basically using iATKOS L2, either putting it into DVD, thumbdrive, adjusting bios settings etc etc) but no luck sad.gif . My desktop just won't boot into the installation menu.

I found one installation method using Kakewalk for my mainboard (Gigabyte H61M B3 S2P) but it seems that I need a Mac to create bootable disk.

Since I don't have a Mac (well thats the reason why I wanna hackintosh) begin with. I am thinking of running a VMWare but that doesnt seems very easy as well (need to get the retail version of Lion).

Just would like to check is there any other better solution for me to install OSX on my PC without a Mac?

I have really spent alot of time on searching but all the information are hard for me (a person totally new to hackintosh) to understand because everyone have their own method to get it working.

Help me please!

I'd agree with you, but not everyone can spend over 3K on Core i5 and without ATI or Nvidia graphics. Although if color accuracy and good solid black level is a huge concern, then you have no choice but to go Mac. You could do a lot worse with something like Acer S3.

Shouldn't be any problem. Did you at least google?

If it's Intel GMA 4500MHD, then no. That is to say, it will run OS X, but you will not like it.

BTW here's a question for all you guys. Anyone here running Crysis 2 on their hack Mac?

Well, in case if someone is still reading, I've succesfully ran Mac OS X Lion on my windows PC using VMware and have created the bootable USB using Unibeast.

Transmac doesnt work for me. Bottomline.. You really need a mac to perform hackintosh. If you don't have it, you can use VMware. As for the guides, there are plenty of video guides (regarding how to get Mac OS X on Vmware) on YouTube.

Identify your hardware (especially mainboard) and check whether has someone successfully installed hackintosh on it. If someone does, follow their method. Unibeast is the best currently (and probably most compatible with most PCs) but too bad you need a Mac to run it.

Check here.

Good luck!

There's nothing magical about Unibeast or VMware. What you can accomplish with Tonymacx86's method, you can do the same with iAtkos. For my mini cube desktop, I only use 1-step iAtkos install.

Everything works.

There's no need for post installation patches, except for the ones from Apple to fix security issues.

The magic is in finding the right board with the right chips and the right graphics card.

Just giving your model name as Inspiron 530 won't do you any good. Just try and google up "Inspiron 530" for yourself and see how varied the model's specs are.

Only one thing is for sure. Inspiron 530 belongs to a generation of computers that are at least 3 years behind times. If you're interested in a more current, 100% compatible system specs, you can PM me.

I want to get started with mt hackintosh project. My last concern is the wifi. Did anyone managed to get any USB wifi dongle to work perfectly? If so can u share your experience?

I wanted to modify a wifi card like is mention in tony log. But I am wondering if the parts are available in Malaysia. If so is anyone had actually done it?

Shouldn't be a problem if you've the correct bluetooth dongle. I haven't tried myself, so I can't say much smile.gif
