@hellwaker, it is not impossible to have MacOSX running on AMD platform but it is hard. You can't use the stock kernel, Apple has released the Lion's kernel but you need to wait for someone to make this available to the masses. Probably the easiest is to have the OSX runs in vm environment. Lion can run on VM and the EULA allows this.

@hellwaker, it means that vmware couldn't boot Lion from your boot drive (usb/dvd/paritition). Did you follow the guide found on the net? If yes, which one?

@olivur, the most importing thing to get MacOSX to run on your hardware are the motherboard and graphics card. If you've the right one, installing MacOSX on your i7 desktop is just straight forward thing.

@olivur, try the guide found using myhack at http://osx86.sojugarden.com/guide/ though I usually prefer the tonymac guide but you can always mix them. For my previous SL setup, I was using myhack + multibeast. For my current Lion setup, I was using Andy's p6p67 guide found at insanelymac + multibeast. Why I used multibeast? Well, almost everything needed to be done after initial setup contained in that utility.

@olivur, according to Lion licensing, you're free to install on the machine that you can run the AppStore smile.gif So, what most of us are doing is to buy the Lion off the AppStore on whatever Mac available, and before the upgrade, we copied the necessary file(s) as backup so we don't need to redownload. And no, buying SL will not give you a free upgrade to Lion.

Is it possible to fresh install Mac OS X Lion on a PC without a Mac? Because I don't know where to buy Lion other than Mac App Store.

Not possible as of now but rumors said that Apple is going to sell Lion in USBdrive for US$70.

@olivur, haha, sorry, didn't know it is not a rumor anymore but announced already. TQ for the link. So, this is the best option for you guys. If you want to go for SL + Lion way, the cost will still be the same I believe. SL is RM109 + US$30 (bare in mind, availability of SL is 1-2 week.. guess they don't want to sell it anymore).

@CatDog, I believe what you're looking is actually a desktop PC. i5/2400, 4GB RAM, 1TB HD, Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3. Problem will be the graphics card. The popular among Hackintosh users, the Radeon 5770 is hard to come by now. So check what are working for Lion here. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=256103 and here http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewforum.php?f=15.

@CatDog, well, the cheapest i5 desktop CPU will set you around RM500++, probably you want to go for a cheaper motherboard since you won't overclock the CPU, go for Gigabyte GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3 around RM300.

@CatDog, on motherboard, if you want to have Hackintosh system with less headache, go for Gigabyte no less. BTW, was told by one forumner, the one available here is the GIGABYTE H67MA-USB3-B3 not the one I said in the reply before.

I've burned Lion into USB thumbdrive, managed to boot up using USB, but im stuck with the installation part. It doesnt let me install to the partition because my harddisk is using MBR, but it requires GUID Partition Table. Is there any way to install lion into a MBR partition harddisk?

Is this a fresh HD? If yes, why don't you go ahead creating a GUID partition table. If you want to install Win7 later on, you can always create an NTFS (or FAT32) partition using diskutility first before booting up Win7 installer.

@izziguy, need more information. What OS you're trying to install, what method did you use, what stage did you get the blank screen, what motherboard do you have.

izzi, I've no idea if anyone has successfully installed SL using iboot + USB. I believe it requires the CD + SL DVD combination. But if you still want to use the USB method, I've successfully used myhack method for my DVD-less setup. The graphics card should work just fine on SL, you may need to add the PCIRootUID=1 during the bootup (or if you're using myhack, I believe you could add this in the comp.apple.Boot.plist in the USB drive).

Whoppys, myhack requires you to have access to OSX first.

Yes, during bootup time. If you need to use the busratio, just append the pcirootuid separated by space.

You might or might not .. if you've installed a DSDT file, I believe you don't really need it..

Why going back to chameleon when you can do the same with chimera? Did you use the latest multibeast? Restarts mean that you probably need to specify the busratio .. but wonder why if you've chimera installed by multibeast.

Did you run the nvidia updater? Try it and see if this solve your problem. Might be the best to upgrade directly to 10.6.8.

Added on August 9, 2011, 10:33 amOh, the nvidia updater should comes with the latest multibeast I believe.

Put the DSDT.aml file that you've downloaded into your Desktop. Run multibeast, there is an option to use the DSDT within the multibeast, tick on that option.

@izzi, as digswell said, put the DSDT.aml either in your /Extra folder or the / (root) folder. The boot process will try to read the file in either of those two directories.

Added on August 11, 2011, 5:40 am@RaplaJingga, try adding PCIRootUID=1 during bootup and see if this fixes your problem.

Added on August 11, 2011, 5:43 am@Chyan, installing Hackintosh on laptop is surely not easy since you can't mix and match your hardware to get the perfect combination. The best is to check the related forums/websites that may have discussed about your specific hardware.
