QUOTE(6so @ May 14 2017, 11:02 AM)
There are way too many good shows to chase right now.
1. American Gods - Enough said.
2. The Handmaid's Tale - Could easily become one of the best show this year. Elisabeth Moss deserves to win any awards in contention.
3. Sense8 - Love it or hate it with the silliness, but when it hit its stride you cannot look away.
4. Master of None - Significant upgrade from season 1. It's a happier and likable version of Louis CK's Louie.
5. Veep - The crazy shenanigans almost a reflection of the trump administration.
6. Silicon Valley - The unpredictable twisty outcome always a highlight of the show.
7. Better Call Saul - It's still well made, but lose out a lot of steam as other shinier shows came about.

The handmaid's tale delivered a soul crushing finale. That swearing scene alone will make your stomach tied knots.Do wonder how will they do season 2 as 80% of the book already in the show???Elisabeth Moss gonna be a big contender comes the award season.

Glow - Napoleon Dynamite meets OITNB
Wasn't a fan of community so I got zero context on Alison Brie. But Marc Maron and Betty Gilpin the MVPs of the show. They really put up superb performances and draw you in early. There's no beating around the bush, you either hate it or like it cause I'm only 2 episodes in. There are plenty of those awkward deadpan comedic beats but you can sense something good might be cooking underneath .Will give it 2 more episodes if you want something off-beat or just stick around strictly for Betty Gilpin. Really love her brief appearances in American Gods.

Glow pretty much bingeworthy if you don't mind the OINTB tone and feel. The whole show click when Alison Brie become Zoya the Destroyer around episode 4 and everything fall into places. The laughs and smart dramas came together beautifully that usually shepherded by Marc Maron. Betty Gilpin took a backseat during the last few episodes as the spotlight being given to the smaller cast members. Recommended and catch it before it got into 2nd season as the rate for sophomore slump unusually high in my recent memory of new shows that went into 2nd season

Gypsy(Debuts-June 30 2017,10 episodes of 60 minutes)
Executive producers-Naomi Watts, Liza Chasin.
Cast
Naomi Watts, Billy Crudup, Sophie Cookson,
Lucy Boynton, Karl Glusman.

Created by newcomer Lisa Rubin, reputable for
screen-writing good sex scenes.
Inspired by Fleetwood Mac's 1982 hit song"Gypsy".
Stevie Nicks recorded a new version just for the show.
Her new arrangement is pretty without the urgent
emotion of the original.

Naomi Watts as Jean Halloway, a Manhattan-based therapist
with a good husband, Michael(Billy Crudup),
and an adorable child, Dolly(Maren Heary).
She spends her days seeing patients, discussing treatment
plans with her colleagues.
Invests too deeply in her patients' lives and
crosses boundaries.

First two episodes are directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson
of(Fifty Shades of Grey).

Naomi Watts has enough shine and appeal to make Gypsy
an adventurous character study worth following.

Preacher season 2 pretty much a better show than the first one. The pace is a lot more snappy and less pandering. It's worth a second chance.

Stars: Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Sofia Hublitz

Byrde, a Chicago financial planner played by Jason Bateman
Good at his boring job, a good dad, cheating wife,

Finished 2 last night, not going to change the world.
For Saturday evening entertainment with no other good movies,
well, it does a pretty decent good job.

The Last Tycoon(2017)
Created, written and directed by Billy Ray
(The Hunger Games and Captain Phillips)

Matt Bomer as Monroe Stahr
Lily Collins as Celia Brady

Nine-episode adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s
unfinished 1941 novel.

Brady-American Pictures, the financially struggling 30s era
at the peak of the Depression and on the eve of World War II,
Hollywood of studio is the center of this series.

The production design and goodness, it looks beautiful,
the people, the costumes, and a whole seductive world.

Better see it on 1080p with big screen.
Review not kind to the film.
saw 2 yesterday, and thought it was okay.

So David Fincher back at tackling serial killers. So what more you need to know.

Strongly urge everyone to watch Rick and Morty. The show is on a roll and you need to look beyond it as a parody or cheap knock-off of Futurama. It has the smartest script and funniest thing you could have watched every week. It is so dense with originality and using high concept idea as punchline like you couldn't have fathom. The crazy thing about the show is there are actual science accuracy to their ridiculous adventures.

The Sinner(Eight episodes weekly-Wed.Premier August 2017)
Cast : Jessica Biel, Bill Pullman,
Christopher Abbott
Executive producer: Jessica Biel
Created : Derek Simonds.

Based on the best-selling German novel by
Petra Hammesfahr
Jessica Biel joins the list of actors/actresses
producing and starring in their own limited series.
Returns to TV after more than 10 years

Biel plays Cora Tannetti, a young mother,
a seemingly average suburban woman
with a boring husband (Christopher Abbott)
Detective Harry Ambrose played by Pullman

The selling point of this murder mystery
series as a “whydunit” as opposed to a “whodunit,”.
And make you curious.

After watching 1st episode last night,
will stick around to see where this goes.
Biel gives her all to define deep and darkest
secret that Cora hides away.

Trust Me(August 2017 )
Debuts-August 8-Sept 5, Tues
Written by Dan Sefton, a qualified doctor.
Jodie Whittaker as Cath Hardacre
Blake Harrison as Karl(Cath's ex)
Emun Elliott as Andrew Brenner(Colleague)

She is whistleblower Cath has been fired from the hospital in
she works as a nurse.

Jodie Whittaker's character Dr. Ally Sutton is extremely nervous.
Understandably hesitant about cutting into patient's bodies.
Because she's not really Dr. Ally Sutton at all.
She is Cath Hardacre, a nurse and single mum who has stolen a friend's
identity and is trying to make it as an impostor doctor.

After watching the 2nd episode,
Jodie Whittaker she is is warm and watchable.
And I would recommend watching it only with subtitles because of the strong
British accent.

Manhunt: Unabomber(Weekly-Tue.debut-August 2017)
Created by -Andrew Sodroski.
Director - Greg Yaitanes.
Executive producers-Kevin Spacey-8 episodes.
Cast-
Sam Worthington (FBI agent.Jim Fitzgerald)
Paul Bettany (bomber Theodore Kaczynski)
Elizabeth Reaser (played Fitzgerald’s wife)

Discovery Channel’s first scripted true-crime story drama.

He's lonely. He's smart, precise..and he's angry.

Kaczynski was a mathematics prodigy with a Harvard degree and 167 IQ.
He is promising young man end up a recluse, living in a one-room
cabin in Montana with no electricity or plumbing,
building explosive devices by candlelight.
Why?

And Fitz is the perfect person to help track down the illusive Unabomber
since he has an ability to see things others don’t
and is able to think outside of the box.

Took me until the third episode of Manhunt for the show
to really click for me.(and to recommend)

The Defenders(2017)
Debuts: Friday, August 18
Format: Hour-long drama(8 episodes)
Starring:
Mike Colter(Luke Cage),
Krysten Ritter( Jessica Jones ),
Charlie Cox(Matt Murdock/Daredevil),
Finn Jones-(Danny Rand, aka the Iron Fist),
Sigourney Weaver(as Alexandra, New York businesswoman)

We've had the great (1st seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones),
the an average of (Luke Cage) and the lows of (Iron Fist).

The four heroes now team up to defend New York City
against a clan of ninjas.

The strength is that it's telling its story in just eight episodes.
(Good decision)
The show gets off to a slow start and takes three episodes
for our heroes to assemble.

Weaver play a compelling villian,
and tycoon with a lust for world domination create a kind of next-level
threat it would take to bring a group of heroes together.

Through three of the eight episodes, and still Jessica Jones was
the only one that really stood out.Not quite have enough of Ritter.
And also would be nice for Jessica to be a bit more than Luke Cage.
The shining spots of this show was Daredevil and Jessica Jones so far.

Again, Iron Fist the least interesting.
Though fight choreography seems much improved but in the pitch dark.
I think they don't really know what to do with him !
