Godless (November 2017)
Created, written and directed - Scott Frank.
Executive producer - Steven Soderbergh.
Cast- Jeff Daniels, Jack O'Connell,
Michelle Dockery.(Downton Abbey)
New seven-part Western limited series.

Set in late-19th century, a small isolated mining
town of La Belle, New Mexico tell the story that was
just all about La Belle.
A community population run by mostly tough, strong-willed
women after all the fathers and husbands lost their
lives due to a mining accident.

Those left are trying to rebuild their lives when
marked man Roy Goode (Jack O'Connell)once a member of
Griffin’s criminal gang takes refuge there.
Wounded Goode takes shelter with a tough widow with a
traumatic past, Alice Fletcher (Michelle Dockery) and
reveals his gentle side and playing father to her
half-Paiute son from her 2nd marriage.

Chased by a menacing, one-armed outlaw Frank Griffin (Jeff Daniels),
who has threatened to slaughter anyone who harbors him.
Griffin sees Roy Goode as a son. But things went sideways between the two.
Who also gives the show its name by proclaiming the West as “godless country”.

Plot may be too slow for some but it grows on you, its momentum
and plot really kicking into gear by Episode 3.

Excellent performances with good sequences of both violence
and beauty with some truly gorgeous landscapes.
Beautifully shot on location in Santa Fe.

Originally intended to be a movie but Soderbergh encouraged Frank
to turn it into a miniseries.

Good to see Scoot McNairy who's the Sheriff Bill McNue in Godless.

Missed him on Halt & Catch Fire!

Netflix's The Punisher damn slow and the story don't need 13 episodes. Was skipping episodes and jumping scenes of my least favorite character arc here and there yet still able to tell what is going. Think this will be my last ever Marvel's TV show and very annoyed with dragging the premise unneccessarily. Jon Bernthal is good as Frank Castle but the story and grounded execution bog him down.

agree with you. fast forwarded until episode 5 then only the story picking up the pace.

Olivia Ross, Ed Stoppard, Julian Ovenden, Sabrina Bartlett.

1291 the year Acre fell to Muslim attackers, ending the Crusaders
control of the city.

The Knights Templar were a Catholic military order that had also
been forced out of the city.
As the forces withdraw, the Holy Grail that Christ drank from

That’s where this 10-parter picks up.

The first episode offers a strong debut with a nice blend of action

Little Women-(Dec.2017)
Written by Heidi Thomas
Produced by Susie Liggat
A U.K/U.S production, location shot- Eastern Ireland.

Adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s 1869 two-volume classic novel.
The story has already inspired several adaptations for both
TV and cinema screens.
One of the previously known adaptations,1994 film starring Winona Ryder
and Susan Sarandon.

Set in Massachusetts the three-part period drama, follows the lives of four March sisters
on their journey from childhood to womanhood while their father (Dylan Baker) is away at war.
And in his absence, the girls are being raised by their mother Marmee(Emily Watson)

The March sisters classic story of "sisterly love." portrayed by-
(Willa Fitzgerald) as Meg,
(Maya Hawke, daughter of Uma Thurman)as energetic writer Jo,
(Annes Elwy)as loving and musical, Beth and
(Kathryn Newton)as youngest and spoilt Amy.

The best performance came from tragic Beth as she wastes away from scarlet fever.
A last moving moment as she lay by her deathbed and her mum whispered.......

This is a wonderful family series.
Though some plot points raced through too fast whilst others lingered over.
Still enjoyed this adaption though never read the book.
Where it does succeed consistently though is in the performances
of its incredible young cast.
The directors went outside familiar talent.
A mixed affair but on the whole a good one.

The Miniaturist(Dec 2017)Two-part series.

Originally planned as a three-part series.
Based on Jessie Burton’s bestselling novel.
Set in 1686 Amsterdam
The death of Nella’s father left the family in difficult straits,
with unexpected debts and declining standard of living.
And the mother finds a suitable match for Nella, in a successful
Amsterdam merchant and trader.

The story begins as
Nella(Anya Taylor-Joy)arrives at the home of her new
husband Johannes Brandt (Alex Hassell) and
as a wedding gift to his 18-year-old bride, a lavish doll’s house.
Nella commissions an elusive miniaturist to decorate the house
with a few intricate ornaments.

But as unsolicited packages keep arriving with dolls and decorations
that eerily predict the future, reflect their owner's fears,
concerns, secrets and also tell truths.

Nella determines to find out who this mysterious miniaturist
is and what is behind these small objects.

Taylor-Joy gives an excellent performance playing the innocent Nella.
Really enjoyed, beautifully filmed, wonderfully acted.
The ending left me wondering if there was a really a part 3.

Black Mirror season 4 pretty bingeworthy with enough variety. At the same time some of it started to feel familiar. Standout episodes for me Crocodile, Hang the DJ, and Black Museum your true and true Black Mirror experience. Make sure saving it for the last as it really embedded with awesome easter eggs.

Counterpart(2018)
Creator - Justin Marks
Stars - J.K. Simmons, Harry Lloyd, Nazanin Boniadi.
10-episode Cold War thriller series.

Oscar award-winning acting from J.K. Simmons plays Howard Silk
inhabits two characters and it is about somebody meeting
a version of himself from a parallel dimension.

if you are fans of sci-fi (spy-vs-spy)cloak and dagger
double agent scenarios, this will be a welcome addition
for your viewing pleasure.

The first episode really enjoyed it!
Wouldn't call it excellent yet, just it has potential.

Was not expecting Netflix's Devilman Crybaby to be good. Reallty glad my itchy finger pressed the play button accidentally. If you look past the anime mumbo jumbo of using teenagers as protagonist and non-sensical set-up...there are a lot of things to like over this new update. The animation is visceral with a pulsing electronic soundtracks to keep it present. There are plenty of ultra violence of body mutilations and wanton of nudity. It just one step shy from hentai.
Like how they integrate present day social politico talking points into the storyline. It's not too childish and able to tackle heavy themes.

Nope...this is a super dark and provoking show. Boy turning into a murdering demon that ramped up to biblical proportion. The original manga gave birth to demon porn genre and a basis for Kentaro Miura's Berzerk.

Altered Carbon - A case of lost identity.
This show reminded me of an old comic book i like when i was cutting classes from school. Aesthetically and premise mirrored Geoff Darrow and Frank Miller Hard Boiled. A Bladerunner-ish setting without the heavy philosophical questions, just a one man army inflicting maximum violence against corporation overlord that stops at nothing to kill the protagonist detective. Yeah Fran Miller was doing his crusade against giant corporations back then.
Then throw in story beats of sci-fi iconic movies for the last decade or two. Out comes a super messy rojak that way too complicated for its own good. So you have a bit of Minority Report, Cloud Atlas, Looper,etc...but not solid identity of its own. Curveballs of story development keep stacking without proper setting up. The dialogues can get so corny like a script you found existed only in porn. Sheesh!!! But it does have that campy and thrashy charm to it.

Well the first few episodes can be sensory overload as there are few story mechanics to figure out. The hook sinks around episode 6. If you are a fan of Joel Kinnaman you will enjoy it more. Just don't expect it to be Bladerunner but more of thrashy Firefly type of tv show.

Right now this UK game show is my obssesion. There are plenty of YouTube full episodes and highlights out there. The ability to outwit each other and who has a better story to fool each other just pure comedic gold. The three mainstay host just have this impeccable timing to riff at each other. The comebacks and word plays just incredible.

Collateral(UK-2018)
Four-part crime drama, every Monday.
Directed by S.J. Clarkson(Jessica Jones)
Written by Sir David Hare(The Hours, The Reader)

Introduced to us, stories of DI Kip Glaspie (Carey Mulligan-
who played the part during her pregnancy in real life),
David Mars, MP (John Simm) and Rev. Jane Oliver (Nicola Walker).
And Karen(Billie Piper), the chain-smoking, jobless single mother.

The fatal shooting of a pizza delivery driver, young Syrian Abdullah Ali.
Was Ali the intended victim, or was the shooter expecting somebody else?

Kip Glaspie is the latest addition to the growing list of TV detectives,
a breath of fresh air in many ways.
A calm and also a former Olympic pole-vaulter, unconcerned with the
bureaucracy of MI5, or whatever spin the newspapers crave.

The acting was very good.well-made dramas.
Mulligan stand-out performance.
Who’d have thought she had this detective performance in her?
Personally, I think she's stand-out in everything I've seen her in.
